When she was told she needed to beef up her book, she added 10 iircpages just about Joseph of Egypt which was then pared down and the response is people want her to give more about all she has learned about these men, the flood, dinosaurs.If she is adding details to scripture stories and people are taking them as filling in the gaps of the record, this is essentially creating new scripture which is equivalent imo to creating new doctrine.She conveniently ignores the comment about distorting, getting what is known doctrine wrong.She keeps saying it is her personal story, but she knows and promotes people acting on it as facts. She doesn't state the energy healing worked for her so you might want to try it, she says it is a revelation from God for all mankind. How is that not creating doctrine?Calm...even as I read this, I kept thinking this so much like what Cal would say...I thought you were a new poster and then I saw the avatar photo! I hope the name change is because your life is calm and tranquil!
Calm Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 (edited) My meds are affecting me more since the surgery, so even though I have gotten back down so quicky to the usual dose....didn't even take ibuprofen today (gives me heart burn so that is nice)...when it's nighttime, I get rather loopy.And two nights ago I got annoyed at how long it took to one finger type in my name and came up with the brilliant solution of removing half of it. No one would be confused by it as the change would be so obvious to people (did I say I was loopy?) Plus...how clever (looking back on this just shows me how stoned I was) to have Calm as a name, kind of like a CTR ring.Not going to be able to live with it in the light of day I am afraid. Just got to decide whether to go back, use my MWC alias Calian, or something else. I am favouring the second because of the sound. It has a definitely not calm vibe to it though given its meaning.I want to think about it for a few more days (and not nights) to be though. Even if it is time probably that I replace my last beloved caftan (I have had two in my lifetime), I do not want them to be ever more than a minor part of my wardrobe.

I make no apologies for what I have said."Given that the Church has labeled her books "spurious materials" I don't think she is being as open to the Spirit as she thinks she is...or is at least claiming, though imo she has convinced herself it is real and appropriate what she is doing, even selling the spiritual gift of healing.

After that, we prayed about it a bit more and decided just to follow what the church has recommended for us to do in terms of preparedness. Pretty sure the church has never told us to go buy a huge canvas tent. 2

According to my friend who is a big follower or hers (or was, i'm not sure if he still is) this is because the church doesn't want to 'scare the chickens'. They want us to continue to be productive up until the end. Only those who are special enough to read her book and believe it get to be 'ultra prepared'.

She isn't the first to promote this idea and won't be the last. Millions of members of the church who have no idea that they need a tent. Ludicrous. 2

More than one, you say? Looks like I will not buy his book or books. He obviously does not heed the doctrine that spiritual experiences intended for you personally are not to be splatted all over the place. This makes me wonder about the source of his "visions".

I've followed a number of prophets of doom and conspiracy theory specialists over the years, and let me confirm to you that it just isn't worth the effort. Even if some of them have some good ideas, the crap they dispense does not make the good stuff worthwhile. I did learn some things about how the law in the US works, however, so it wasn't a complete loss. I can now read legislation and court decisions and follow what the holy heck they're talking about. Usually.
