Duncan Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 get married and have a daughterI have a good enough job for now, it's mind numbingly boring but it's okay but a wife would make it all the more worth it. I have my son so he keeps me going! 1
Garden Girl Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 One day at a time, sweet Jesus... one day at a time... (I forget the country singer who recorded that). I'm on the downside now... will be 73 next month. If I would get myself in gear, I think I could still do pretty well with a greeting card line featuring Bob... my black and white cat... He's a beauty... and I've been thinking about doing cat cards for several years. Now that I have Bob and have seen how popular Black/White cats are (there's a website devoted to B/W owners, and they post pictures, tell stories, etc.) Not only do cat cards sell well, B/W cat cards I know would do well. I keep getting these flashes in my mind of designs featuring Bob in various scenes... now if I'd just paint them for reproduction I think I could do well.So that would be a goal...The others I've pretty well covered... from the beach... GG

3DOP Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Tough question...I wouldn't mind retiring and being alive all at the same time. But the main thing is retirement. If I have to croak early, it would be nice for it to happen in the next few years so we get a good life insurance settlement. But I wouldn't call that my goal. Heh. 1
Calm Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 is Video Game Junkie a parody account like Stake President Paternoster? If he is, he is a bad parody because he comes across realistically balanced for his age to me and not making a certain type of individual look foolish or extreme. I have known individuals like him, I was focused on some of the same things as he is when I was his age...though granted this is at the level of the superficial knowledge that can come from interaction on a message board and thus it might be easy to imitate though for what purpose I wouldn't know. Why do you think he is a parody?
3DOP Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Who is Stake President Pater Noster (Our Father)? Never heard of that. Video Game Junkie seems like a good kid to me. One of these days soon he'll hopefully be a good old man with a happy family, few regrets, and not have any goals anymore except to die well...which is mine...but that would have sounded a little too pious. 1
Calm Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 I don't really have any goals save to be a better person at helping others in ways that I can, being more understanding, not screwing my kids up and helping others help themselves primarily so my help won't make life harder in the long run. I've tended to avoid setting goals these days because I don't have a lot of opportunity to fulfill the normal ones or the ones I used to have and have had to give up so I figure I will simply focus on what is most important and what I can do no matter where I end up...if the doctors create a miracle cure for my disorder tomorrow or I get hit by a car and end up paralyzed.
jkwilliams Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Who is Stake President Pater Noster (Our Father)? Never heard of that. It's a snarky parody blog. (And, for the record, I've never had anything to do with it, even at my worst.) Video Game Junkie seems like a good kid to me. One of these days soon he'll hopefully be a good old man with a happy family, few regrets, and not have any goals anymore except to die well...which is mine...but that would have sounded a little too pious. I don't see what he's supposed to be parodying.

jkwilliams Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Hey JK...thanks. I'll have to look that up...The Pater Noster part caught my attention. It sounds kind of half Catholic/half LDS I have to admit I sometimes find him funny, but other times way too snarky and mean-spirited.
VideoGameJunkie Posted November 8, 2013 Author Posted November 8, 2013 I'm not a parody, I'm a real person. Maybe my threads seemed weird and he thought I was? I'm just a 28 year old lifelong Latter-Day Saint who is going through some personal struggles and I'm worried about my future. My future in this life and the next. That's all.
The Nehor Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Get marriedPerfect my grilled cheese, ham, and pepperoni sandwich recipe.Die wrestling a shark and ascend to become a God and rule all of Creation. That is pretty much it. I can probably knock this all out over a good three-day weekend. 1

Gohan Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 What time period do you especially like? American Civil War, that's what got me into studying history initially. In addition, I enjoy the Plantagenet dynasty in England and early LDS history. 1
thesometimesaint Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 American Civil War, that's what got me into studying history initially. In addition, I enjoy the Plantagenet dynasty in England and early LDS history. Cool. I lived in the South and got an intensive and broad education on the time period. I'm more of a American Revolutionary War(before and after) time period fan myself.
Tacenda Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 (edited) To not get Alzheimer's disease before I reach 75, but that's pushing it, it's in the genes. To make each day count. To get as much family time possible. To travel somewhere with ancient history. To not embarrass my family, hopefully leave a good legacy. To spend a little of my kids inheritance, use some of my savings. Live somewhere in my dreams. I guess these are both long and short term goals. Edited November 8, 2013 by Tacenda

Gohan Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Eh, don't worry about the sanity thing. Actually teaching will get rid of any you have left. (Said by the wife of a history teacher )Lol, well that's encouraging right there. :-P Cool. I lived in the South and got an intensive and broad education on the time period. I'm more of a American Revolutionary War(before and after) time period fan myself. The Revolutionary War is a great period to study, I've been getting more into it lately than I had in a while. Found some genealogical ties that got my interest peaked again. 1
