Calm Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Went to the temple yesterday.I was overwhelmed with the beauty of this new film. It is simply an amazing presentation. I really felt like the view of God and His plan became more focused for me with all the nuances that were changed in the film. My wife cried. She has often had difficult with the film in the past. She was so happy.I cannot overstate how amazing this film is.Someone at the conference stated the portrayal of Eve is quite beautiful. It is interesting that even with no change in text (apparently?) that one can still have a dramatic change in the personality portrayed. I am eager to see it, probably will go to Provo when it reopens.
Calm Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Sometimes, for special occasions, I want to be able to give more than one rep point.Gave him one for you.

Duncan Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Every character is represented in a manner that is so much better and deeper than before.are there one or two new films?
canard78 Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Gave him one for you.Cheers. I already owe you dozens. The down-side of being on the phone most of the time.
canard78 Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 (edited) are there one or two new films?Rumour is that 2 more are in production to have some variety. An unanswered question on another forum from someone was whether any of the Adam and Eves in either of the other two films will be of a different ethnicity. By the way, have the church made any public announcement about this change or has this only spread by word of mouth? Also, are there any official publications of the church saying a film is used at all? I had the temple prep classes but it came as a complete surprise to me that I'd sit down and watch a film. Edited August 2, 2013 by canard78 1
Stargazer Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Do Deity appear as powder-covered manikins in the new film? It got so that I could not bear to look at the (old) films at all, and sat through them with my eyes closed most of the time....Eyes closed? Well, sometimes i do that anyway. While trying to not snore too loudly.
Stargazer Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Well, I was wondering when this would happen.I am going to miss the two old films actually. I used to distinguish them by way of whether they reminded me of Star Wars or Star Trek, because the opening scenes of one had asteroids floating in the blackness (Star Wars), and the other had planets passing by (Star Trek). Our Temple, the Seattle Washington, has its upcoming maintenance closing soon: Monday, August 12, through Monday, August 26. I suppose we will then have the new film.Looking forward to it!
cdowis Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Posters,Please remember this is not a feature film, but sacred instruction. Some of the comments show disrespect and spiritual immaturity.Thanks. 3

Deborah Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 A couple of my college professors have played Satan in different versions of the film. We do have it here at Oquirrh Mountain Temple and they had to change the times to accommodate.
David T Posted August 2, 2013 Author Posted August 2, 2013 (edited) I did go to the Atlanta Temple last night, but for several reasons, decided to do initiatories with family names instead. At the end of the evening, I saw a member of the Temple presidency, and asked him if they had recieved the new film. He was kind of weird and cryptic about it, first saying, "No comment." "No comment?" I replied. He paused, and then said, "Not yet...come and see."Sounds like they're under instruction not to specifically talk about it. Which I thought was unfortunate, seeing as I was there in the temple as a patron.Oh well. Couldn't tell if he was saying it's coming but not there yet, or if he's not allowed to talk about it yet.Great experience doing initiatories, though. The Atlanta Temple's initiatory section is SO much nicer (and bigger) since the complete renovation of the Temple a couple of years ago. Edited August 2, 2013 by David T 2

kassie Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 I went to the temple last night and the new film is amazing. I would encourage everyone to go see it. Of course I would also encourage Church members to go to the temple anyway. It isn't just about the film as we know. Also, someone said to remember this is a sacred part of the temple. I think that is good advice. 2
David T Posted August 2, 2013 Author Posted August 2, 2013 Millennial Star has a post up about it, with individuals in the comments reporting their experiences as well, FWIW.

afamilyguy Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Dang, I wish I could have delayed my faith crisis a year. I genuinely want to see the new film. It's not too late to repent and return. Go talk to your bishop.

Senator Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 An unanswered question on another forum from someone was whether any of the Adam and Eves in either of the other two films will be of a different ethnicity.Wouldn't that put some old folklore doctrine in a tail spin.......having a black Adam and Eve.....
Duncan Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 You don't think that will happen with these films?ah, I hope not!
omni Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 It's not too late to repent and return. Go talk to your bishop.Yeah, I'll get right on top of that.

She was so happy.I cannot overstate how amazing this film is.I wonder if there is a correlation between the production quality of the films and the Temple experience. Over time, the productions will naturally get outdated, and the technology (i.e. special effects, CGI), hair styles, set design, acting styles etc. will become byproducts of the era in which they were produced. As this happens, does it diminish the Temple experience?I suspect it has much more of an effect on new attendees. It must be quite a shock for an 18 year old in 2013 who was raised on modern film technology to find themselves watching a production from the 1980s. At what point do they start to wonder if they're seeing actual footage of Adam and Eve? 1
Bernard Gui Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Dang, I wish I could have delayed my faith crisis a year. I genuinely want to see the new film. There is a way to fix that.
