Nicholson isn't dignified enough, he's just creepy, not Satanic in my view.

Boye is my first choice for Satan and my second would be Shawn Bradley, I heard people follow tall people

Would it be against Board Policy if someone reveals whether they removed the part(s)

where Adam and Eve are smiling in the Garden of Eden before the fall? From what I

read in the Book of Mormon, they had no joy.

Regards,

Jim

If you are talking about 'Adam fell that men might be and men are that they might have joy', that is not referring to whether or not Adam and Eve ever smiled in the garden.

It's teaching that without the fall, being exalted (that state of being which is necessary before anyone can receive a fullness of joy) would not have been possible.

This is because opposition is necessary (learning the difference between good and evil, bitter and sweet, etc.) in order to experience true joy.

Jack Nicholson would be preferrable.

Only if we get Cher as Eve. :diablo:

My wife always told me babies don't smile, it's just wind. Maybe that's your explanation.

I love the live presentation. I do think something is lost when the symbols are illustrated from someone else's perspective in filmed narrative, even though I understand the value of a filmed presentation. It seems some of the personal interpretive power is diminished a bit - you arrive with the canvas already painted in from a particular artist's point of view.

As Hamlet says, "the play's the thing."

Attending several live sessions radically changed my perspective on the endowment. It made so much more sense.

I think making it more realistic is a step backwards. When you read Nibley it's very clear that throughout history the temple drama is a symbolic play, not a documentary. I only fully appreciated this when I went through a live session. Making it more realistic may detract from this.

Joy is generally seen as something more eternal than temporary satisfaction or pleasure.

Ryan Gosling as Adam!

Only if we get Cher as Eve. :diablo:

In case it was too obscure (and from a too rated R movie) this is what I was referring to. It would be a different take on the Adam and Eve story to have Eve say this to Satan after being offered the fruit:

And did they take out Adam's physical interaction with the pre-embodied apostles? Because from what I read in D&C 129, this is highly problematic.

What I appreciate about Nicholson is that in his recent films he's not afraid to look old...

in fact it seems to me he aged fairly quickly, i.e. facial lines, receding hairline, etc.... one of my favorites...

edit to add: I'm anxious to see the new film...

The temple ceremony is symbolic. It's not supposed to be an accurate depiction of actual historical events.

Went to the temple yesterday.

I was overwhelmed with the beauty of this new film. It is simply an amazing presentation. I really felt like the view of God and His plan became more focused for me with all the nuances that were changed in the film. My wife cried. She has often had difficult with the film in the past. She was so happy.

I cannot overstate how amazing this film is.

hahaha! well, i just find him very, very irritating like I find Satan to be irritating. I wouldn't mind seeing John Bytheway as Satan either! very x3 annoying! but not my will but thine be done. I guess I have my reasons for hoping these two brethren were but not likely picked.

There is something I can say here that would be funny maybe but I won't..biting my tongue though....!

Do Deity appear as powder-covered manikins in the new film? It got so that I could not bear to look at the (old) films at all, and sat through them with my eyes closed most of the time....

Hopefully that at least should help people realise that IT'S NOT A DOCUMENTARY!!!:aggressive:

(Not saying that at you... but at the countless people I hear trying to evaluate it has a piece of history rather than as a symbolic play)

Sometimes, for special occasions, I want to be able to give more than one rep point.

Are you thinking perhaps sort of a "Shining"-esque portrayal?

And Jim Carrey play Adam?

Well, if we have Michael McLean playing Satan playing Richard III, then why not.

Sorry... Can I just check. You're saying Michael McLean is playing Richard III?

Out of my sight! Thou dost infect mine eyes.
