(can't STAND anything coffee flavored. Disgusting flavor!)Separately... Romney may well have ordered it for a staffer not for himself. The article is not clear really about that... and is more about innuendo.However, the aroma of coffee brewing over a campfire in a tin coffee pot is most delightful. I hope it's not a sin to smell the aroma.

As I drank about half of it he chortled in glee about how it had some sort of alcohol or something like that in it and how I had sinned.I told him... no, I had not sinned but rather I enjoyed the drink -- which as Jesus promised -- we could drink poison even and be ok. But that he would have to pay for in Hell for trying to trick one of the Saints of God -- or he could repent and beg me and Jesus to forgive him.He was quiet for a long time after that. 2

Later it become, without any revelation, a policy that obedience to it now becomes a requisite to enter the temple. There is so much more to the WofW than not drinking coffee, tea, and not smoking. There is a all the rest about proper eating and more.Unfortunately, this policy was what was the single most known fact about the LDS Church and its people. It was not our belief in Jesus Christ, our love of God, or our service to our fellowman. I remember teaching a gospel doctrine class where I asked the class what was more important, obedience to the WofW or the law of Chastity. They chose the WofW. I cried and very poorly tried to explain that the WofW was a policy and disobedience would not blacken the soul or tear the heart out of our body, that it was a telestial law and has nothing to do with eternity. For me, and I know that I am in the minority and may be absolutely wrong on the topic, but it is a policy that could be done away tomorrow and not a single person's eternal salvation would be endangered by drinking coffee, tea and eating just the same as we do today. My counsel to all is this: Today the prophet asks that we remain obedient to the WofW. Do what he says and all will be well. If you should break the WofW repent as quickly as possible and all will be well. God is seeking the contrite heart and the broken spirit; be that type of person. Should you see others that do not keep the WofW you must understand that they could be just as righteous as you, if not more so, they just don't have a prophet or teaching that requires it of them; of you, it is required.

So simple and within the capabilities of the weakest of the weak but such a stumbling stone to the legalistic amongst us. Much like the general Naman the leper who when the prophet told him to bath in the river Jordon scoffed. He was then asked by his servant if he had been asked to do some great thing wouldn't he have done it. The word of wisdom such a little thing.

I think you are wrong in two ways. First, I don't think that anything we do in this life does not follow with us after death. That is one of the things the Gospel teaches us and is the reason we need the Atonement of Jesus. Our thoughts, our words, our deeds all matter -- and how we treat the body also matter. Although the Word of Wisdom was not given by commandment, I still think the basic wisdom that the Lord gave -- that is that there is no commandment that is merely temporal -- would apply to the Word of Wisdom as much as to other mundane things.Secondly, I think that it is presumptuous to say it would not affect anyone's salvation. Addictions are soul destroying. To declare that they do not have eternal consequences is to deny the obvious effects on those same words, thoughts and deeds alluded to earlier. Unhealthy addictions make it very hard to be contribute effectively as a Saint and are often unclean in and of themselves.So for those two reasons, I think you are wrong.
