So what about Green Tea? What is the official stance there? I have heard vastly different answers on that topic. It supposedly has a lot of great health benefits.

It's silly...but decaf Green Tea is also WoW friendly and perfectly fine...BUT...its not about the caffeine...its about obedience...but decaf coffee is also fine...but its not about the caffeine...AND cold coffee icecream is ok too...BUT Iced coffee is Bad...so are we back to the old cold caffeine must be frozen to be (OK) and hot caffeine in any form is (BAD) argument again?

My head hurts. At least Alcohol is easy. None, no exceptions.

Ummmm...Is that what its called when someone contributes to a thread that they started or am I just tempting you more than you can withstand?

No... that is what it is called when someone is trolling. As I suspect you are doing.

I think that a careful reading of D&C 89 will show that obedience to the Word of Wisdom is necessary to enter the temple. :)

The whole "green tea" v. regular tea; non-alcoholic v. Utah watered downed alcoholic beverages v. every where else where alcohols are not watered down; coffee v. decaf....is just simply ridiculous.

The Word Of Wisdom, is stated as a prohibition against Coffee and Tea - it does not distinguish between decaf and regular, or green tea and black tea, nor does it delineate the % of alcohol that turns water into a alcoholic drink.

If green tea and decaf coffee are acceptable, does that mean that I can release Prince Albert from his can, because the current proper way of enjoying Prince Albert is to not inhale but simply enjoy the flavor?

I don't know what your motives are.. but I suspect you are trolling. It has the hallmarks of trolling. But why you would be trolling I do not know.

Ice tea is disgusting, pure and simple

CFR.. This is my first time asking. And I will count every additional CFR I demand of you.

Motivations?...Hmmmm....prehaps I was merely desirous of sharing a news story I thought would be of particular interest to the members of this forum...but then again...I'm confused becasue you seem to see my efforts as trolling...which if I understand the term is to merely post in the hope of insighting a riot of reaction and then sit back and watch as the infighting insues...

Feel free to question my initial motivations as you have...BUT...I know in my heart I was only sharing a story of particular interest...controversial? yes...trolling? that wasn't my intent...

Begs the question...is it only trolling when a non-believer posts a question? Or can a believer also be accused of trolling

BTW: Your avitar is intimidating...kind of like the Wizzard of Oz just missing the smoke and firewizard-of-oz2.jpg

I wanted to start drinking green tea when I found out it was a good antioxidant and might help prevent Alzheimers. A few years ago I actually called the COB to get an answer. They gave my call to a nice gentleman that told me it really was up to me to decide and mentioned hearing of LDS doctors that drink it for medicinal purposes. But even after that I just can't seem to drink it unless I put in a bunch if sugar!

Maybe. Maybe something else. I would not know.

I have not questioned your motives. I said I think you are trolling. But I do not know why you might be trolling.

I don't mean for my avatar to intimidate. But it is a big forehead.

A rule of thumb for all Word of Wisdom questions: If you are unsure, err on the side of caution.

If you are so insecure about making your own decisions about whether or not a particular substance is in compliance with the Word of Wisdom so that you have to ask and rely on the wisdom of someone else to answer for you, then you might not be wise enough to ask the right person so you'd better just abstain from whatever you have a question about. Just don't assume that you have then become wiser than someone who isn't abstaining. Things like green tea on ice or iced coffee drinks like a Frappuccino or Mocha. . . it wouldn't even occur to me ask if they were forbidden under the hot drinks clause . . . :)

That is the sort of thing that I consider to be trolling. Making illogical sequences of statements from unsubstantiated reports whereby you draw controversial conclusions.

CFR that it is a unsubstantiated report...there were witnesses, his own team confirmed it, the reporter reported it...why is it such a big deal if he likes coffee icecream...heck coffee icecream is good...I think it makse Mitt human

I will be pleased to respond when you can tell me how to prove that there is no source for something. I think it is unreasonable to request a citation for something when what I am saying is that no citation exists to prove it. I need you to tell me how to cite something I said does not exist.

However, to show that the press gets even big things wrong, let me point out:

http://www.time.com/time/specials/packages/article/0,28804,2032304_2032746_2033037,00.html

That they can get small things wrong is practically legendary:

http://www.rawstory.com/rawreplay/2011/05/local-news-anchor-president-obama-is-in-fact-dead/

And of course sometimes its not a mistake:

http://www.nytimes.com/2003/05/11/us/correcting-the-record-times-reporter-who-resigned-leaves-long-trail-of-deception.html?pagewanted=all&src=pm

In this case I note that you make bad assumptions and since you like CFR -- even badly formed ones -- lets return the favor....

1. There were witnesses. --- CFR that there were witnesses aside from the "reporter".

2. His own team confirmed it -- CFR that they confirmed it.

Your turn.

Ok what about the barley in the WoW? Is that beer? I know some disaffected mormons get a kick out of the WoW saying you can drink barley drinks. Meaning beer.

Posted (edited)

If you look at the picture, it looks more like vanilla than a coffee flavoured ice cream which is usually tinted a brown. Whatever it is, I highly doubt he's risking his TR by eating it.

His team simply treated it as a nonissue...which it is, without saying anything about whether or not he actually ate that flavour....they likely weren't keeping track and could care less....as we all should.

And he could have easily said something along the lines of "give me your best flavour".

This is such a silly, useless story, is there really nothing of more value for this reporter to write up?

is barley beer "strong drink"?

I drank barley drinks (aka mugicha) in Japan because it wasn't caffeinated nor was it alcoholic. Tasted a bit like Postum.

There are different kinds of green tea. The kind drunk in Japan as part of the cha-no-yu or tea ceremony is very bitter and highly caffeinated (it was drunk to keep the priests awake). American green tea, at least the kind in the bottles, has less caffeine than does Pepsi or Coke. I don't really like it so I avoid it.
