Last Movie You Watched

Watched Galaxy Quest again to see Alan Rikman's hilarious performance. Now I'm going to watch Sense and Sensibility. Such a versatile actor.

Last movie I saw was Labyrinth, starring the now-deceased David Bowie as the Goblin King Jareth and a young Jennifer Connelly.  It is rated PG for Bowie's bulging codpiece, I guess.

It's about adventures in babysitting in a world just outside our own.

I love that movie.

And before that one, the Lego movie.

And before that, Star Wars: Harry Potter In Space.

Seriously.  Snape kills Dumbledore.

But even more intriguing was the World of Warcraft preview that preceded SW:TFA - seemed to be LoTR x HP.  I can't remember if there were lazor swords in that one...

Watched Constantine with Keanu Reeves. Very strange movie.  Lots of weird twisted religious themes and convoluted mythology. But I enjoyed it.  Just don't ask me to provide a coherent plot summary.

Sundance 2016 list

Mr. Pig - sweet story. Kinda. Road trip theme. Alcoholic, dying father (Danny Glover). Concerned daughter, who travels with him to the end. Pig that needs a good home.

Notes on Blindness - interesting documentary, but I did fall asleep for a bit. I could see it coming to BBC or PBS. Not so much a mainstream kind of deal. A man who went blind as an adult, made cassette recordings, an audio journal, about coming to terms with his world going black. Profound at times. The film makers used the original recordings, reenactment with the actors lip syncing to the recordings. Well done.

Captain Fantastic  - Viggo Mortensen. Enough said. 😊

Man with his own personal demons fights demons to save the girl. Similar to an episode of Supernatural with a bigger budget.

And save the girl's twin from hell.  Right?  But his own suicide attempt is too important to the story...and the bad angels...

I think the twin still stays in hell but maybe not. I don't think the movie really addressed it. 

I had to watch the movie three times before I could really figure out the plot, and I'm still probably not understanding it completely.

He saves the twin by using the reward given to him by Lucifer to have her released rather than a longer life as Lucifer expected, iirc.  It is that sacrifice that grants him heaven and causes Lucifer to resurrect him so he can damn himself again.

It is always the end of the film I stumble across, lol.  Not completely sure about the rest of it.

I got dragged by a film junkie to see The Revenant. It sucked. Just super violent and it's boring, just Leonardo Dicaprio crawling for 2 hours. Don't see it. Yet it'll win the Oscar for best picture.

Prince of Egypt on Sunday while sorting through German Merchant Marine records to find anything on my German-Jewish great-grandpa who immigrated to Chile. No luck, but I felt in touch with my Hebrew roots.

My German Jewish great great grandpa, Abraham Lesser, immigrating to England, is where we lose his line more or less.  Know a bit about his father, Solomon, and a sibling or three who also immigrated, but Germany info is zip.

I saw Everest starring Josh Brolin, Jake Guyanthall(sp) ... based on true events... the loss of about a dozen+ members of a climbing expedition in 1996... It was very realistic and gave an account of what climbers face... I can't imagine why anyone would want to subject themself to the rigors of the climb... it is not for the everyday person that's for sure.

That was my thought as well GG.  

I've read the book the movie is based on (it's very interesting that book and the movie paint Krakauer in such a positive light knowing that other people who were there did not agree with the way he portrayed himself), and i've read the book written by the guy who woke up from the hypothermic coma and had to be helicoptered off the mountain (his name escapes me right now but his wife's name is Peach) and the biggest thing i got from both books and the movie was how crazy people are who want to climb those high altitude mountains!  It looks absolutely miserable.
