Those on this Dialogue, who are familiar with me, will be aware I am RC (Please don't all scream 😊). I came to this Dialogue to help me with my own personal journey in faith. And very glad I did arrive here, and hope to remain as long as allowed. From my own experience, all Christians can learn from each other how to develop in their own personal journey in faith.

I could really use some prayer from you all again
Tony uk replied to rodheadlee's topic in Social Hall
Hi rodheadlee You are going through a really tough time, and for sometime. You are in my thoughts and most of all prayers. I know it is easy for me to say over here in the UK. You need to push through these present circumstances, using the law to your advantage. It is circumstances, and situations as what you are facing at the moment, that push a person to their limits. Physically, mentally and with their faith, and every personal way possible. At what is possibly the worst, or one of the worst parts of your life. You are also experiencing the worst side of people with these squatters. Keep going as you are, remaining within the law, and what God would expect of you in these circumstances. Please do not let you get yourself dragged down to a bad place. Take care. -
I hope all goes well with the FAIR Conference.

Recently revisited both Deep Impact, and Armageddon. Both meteor coming to Earth movies, both released around the same time. My own preference of the two is Deep Impact.

I think people may watch a movie or a TV series, and enjoy it. All tho they know it is acted, and made with cameras, and lighting and so on. When something happens in the real world do so speak. Especially when it is something on a grand scale, never before achieved or since. Ot may become easy for people to question the reality of what has happened. The moon landing for one, also religion, brings questions to debate if it really happened or not.

There is a LDS Temple, in the North of England, near the city of Preston. It is point of reference for people travelling on the motorway. Due to the landscape, it is set above the motorway, surrounded by trees and other greenery. The spire is very noticeable, and gets the attention of people, for the right reasons 😊.

I have always felt that people have an image of God, and appearance of Charlton Heston with a grey beard and hair, along with the voice of Morgan Freeman. This with the expectation that God will intervene as in Biblical times. As I have grown older, I have felt God intervenes in a way suitable to the time. A bit like a sculptor working on a project. At the start, big chunks being cut off, and along the way chiseling less to get to the finished article. At a time when God made big incursions into the world, maybe in the present time, God still intervenes, but possibly in a less noticeable way. For myself, when facing personal concerns and I have prayed to God for help. Assistance may come through the help and/or guidance of other people. Alternatively, the normal process of events may take a turn where I can overcome the difficulties that I face. So maybe God like the sculptor is gently chipped away, without any grand gesture. God, through the Holy Spirit maybe guiding us, and sometimes through other people. When people, through relationships, family, friends, workplace. Are facing difficulties, as problematic as it maybe. Need to understand the other person position, and work together through the issue. Sometime, people, may walk away from their church, because of issues they feel strongly about. Unfortunately, walking away still leaves the issue there. I prefer to face whatever issues, and try to work on the issue to influence for the better. The thing is, have faith in God. He's been around for a long time, and knows what he is doing. Just trust in him.

I personally don't understand what would upset people. For a number of years, women have taken employment in various professional positions. With regards to parenting, there are better work place conditions than a few years ago. There is maternity leave, and certain places may include nursery places attached to the place of employment. So, best wishes the lady for taking a career, and also to the gentleman in the post for being a responsible person.

Normally, the arguments that exist against the Roman Catholic. Seemed to take shape in their present shape, around the sixteenth century, when the likes of Luther, Calvin and their peers were spearheading the protestant reformation. However, from my own perspective. The Catholic Church has been in existence for two thousand years. Although, some may date to the Emperor Constantine in the fourth century, when at the council of Nicea. The Catholic Faith was taken on board by the Empire. It is in my own thought process, as I see it. In the western world at least. Established Churches take there stem from the Roman Catholic Church, which grew from the early Church Fathers. Imo, it is easy for people, outside the Catholic Church. To try and interpret parts of the Bible, as showing the Catholic Church to being the dreaded 'Whore of Babylon'. And the Papacy as being the product of wrong. But maybe, just maybe, people would like to reconsider there perspective on the matter.

There was a film in the late 70's, Capricorn one. It was a story regarding what turned out to be a fake landing on the planet Mars. There was a studio used to film of the Mars landing. An entertaining film of its time, with popular actors.

Yes I am Bluebell. 😊 Although, I am prepared to learn and understand from other people. Especially the LDS.

I would like to add one further point, and I am sure 3DOP can expand further. The early Christians first met on the first day of the week, Sunday, for the breaking of bread. As recognition of Sunday being the day of the resurrection. These early Christians, would have been meeting in the time period, not long after the resurrection. So they would, I expect, have first hand understanding of the matter.
-
For Christianity to exist, the resurrection of Christ was needed. Jesus commissioning the Apostles to make disciples of all nations. Along with the Holy Spirit at pentacost, gave the Apostles belief, and strength of character to preach of Christ.

Glad you are to make the point far better than I could. Within the Catholic Church, there maybe a lack of education, with regards to this among a minority of people. Outside the Catholic Church, there maybe a lack of understanding on the matter.

As a Roman Catholic, there is an argument against religious imagery, that I have always struggled to grasp. In the RC world we have crucifixes with Christ on the the cross. Also statues of saints, and various artwork on a religious theme. When I hear non RC giving criticism of this. I rarely hear the same people offering criticism of statues in public places of politicians and other notable people. Also artwork, or other imagery.

BYU professor speaks to UN about peace, human dignity
Tony uk replied to Calm's topic in General Discussions
Until we all learn to live in peace with each other, and overcome issues through dialogue, and patience. Unfortunately, imo, as the status quo exists, there will always be force used as a way of enforcing a view. Those in position of responsibility need to accept there are better ways for making change, than by using force -
Once again, I am on the outside looking in on this, but felt the need to contribute. There are women that hold teaching, and leadership roles in the wider world. As well as the important role of mother. So, from my own experience, I have always found a women's influence to be calming, and with a natural to lead and teach. I think that a female influence within a Church is most welcome, even at only local level. And from my own knowledgeable, and limited experience. The LDS have missionaries that are female, just as they have males.

Russian and Ukrainian missionaries visited the other day.
Tony uk replied to Tacenda's topic in Social Hall
Although there countries are at war, maybe these two are level headed enough to think outside the box so to speak, and are able to get along. Possibly as a result of being missionaries in another European country, or some other reason, their journey as brought them to the USA. -
Glad to hear that Tacenda. I very much enjoy learning history, and about the various places and people. Utah it seems, is a good place to learn about. 😁

Prayers assured.

Anaconda is one film, of both versions. That I've not seen yet, hopefully in the future I'll be able to watch in the future.

A Secular Theory of Where the BoM Came From
Tony uk replied to Analytics's topic in General Discussions
Firstly, I admit, this is a subject matter I am not qualified to add to. I just wanted to add my thoughts. Languages around the world, have progressed, and developed over time. For example, Latin over time forming into what is now referred to as Italian. Other languages especially English being influenced by other languages. Grammar developing and adjusting with time. Also regional dialects of a particular language. I presume Joseph Smith and many others at this time spoke English, with what may constitute a form of dialect(s) of his surroundings, and with the grammar of the time. One as only to look at the works of people like Shakespeare. To see how the English language has evolved over the last few centuries.
