Hi Bluebell Although the Catholic Church, in principle, may accept Protestant baptism, making their Church members Christian. It is partly due to the understanding of Second Vatican Council in the sixties. Which Calm in previous post has touched on. The only Baptism fully recognised by the Catholic church, is by the Catholic which then makes you a member of it. If that makes sense. I think 3DOP can give a fuller explanation than me.

In Britain, over the last few centuries, there has been issues regarding denomination. Over time, culture and history gets dragged into the debate. In time it becomes, in my opinion, a never ending argument of, you say this, and I say that, with both sides constantly finger pointing at each other, fault finding and points scoring on each other. The last few years, things have begun to settle down. People learning to co exist with each other. It is easier, I find, to accept all people are individuals, with both independent, and also shared beliefs.

I recently got to rewatch the first two Superman films with Christopher Reeve. The third and fourth films in that specific series was shown on consecutive nights on TV. The first two are those I prefer to watch, and still enjoy them as much now as when I first went to see them at the cinema when I was a youngster.

As a Church attending member (RCC). I has been my understanding, that the Papacy, is inspired by God, through the Holy Spirit, to instruct the faithful in the teachings of Jesus. That is the very basic view of the matter, in my understanding. As for the right Church, I would much prefer to leave the big calls to God. It is easy for people to adopt the approach of I am correct, but you are wrong. I personally feel that this stance can only cause division rather than unity.

It is easy, I presume, for a person to fault find in something they do not understand, or want to understand. If there is an issue with an institution, whatever that institution maybe. Then the issue itself should be addressed in a calm, reasonable and sensible manner. As with an institution such as the Church of Jesus of Latter Day Saints, as with my own institution (RCC). A person may pick up a actual issue, or consider to be an issue and run with it. I admit I can not comment on the the things Bluebell as mentioned in her post. It is a good thing when people feel they are able to stay within their Church, and able to overcome issues in a sensible mature way.

I'm looking forward to watching this one myself. Yes it is set in England, with a very good cast. I have always found Hugh Jackman to be a very good actor, and person. Emma Thompson came through into acting, with a number of other actors, male and female in the early 80's. All various degrees of success.

I think it maybe like This and That. It maybe down to geography, also the grammar used by different groups of people. I am aware that I am a number of people on board from England, and a large number of people from America, so try and keep my grammar neutral. Although at times, the more I try and sound neutral, the more I sound like someone from England.

Original sin is passed down to the individual, however it is washed away at Baptism, at which we become part of one body in Christ, the body being the Church,from whom grace is given to the person. The parents bringing there own children with the correct guidance is correct and proper. The problem I find, is when government laws and regulations are enforced in away that the parents are not comfortable with but are expected to bring them in accordance with the law, that they had parents are not comfortable with.

I have held to the thought process, that the terms and phrases used in Biblical times, was used in a way for that specific time to understand, and for future generations to adapt to the understanding of their own time. So, to carry on what Stargazer has touched on. The term/phrase of Mansion, could relate to a celestial body.

If this was in someway a cry for help on the part of the man, possible mental health issues. Then at least he went to a place where he felt that help could be initiated. I am certainly not accepting carrying the gun in the manner he did to be correct. If the man was suffering from mental health health issues, maybe there was something in his mind to go where he did, do what he did to gain attention from a sympathetic understanding person or people. From there the appropriate help would be provided.

As part of the Second Vatican council, the members of the 'RCC' are called to be open to other Christian Churches (Ecumenical). Also to people of other faiths. I consider myself to be open to other people, my own opinion, not someone else. My own concern regarding the excamunication. How can the Church expect the members to be open and welcoming to others, when it is closing doors on those within the Church. When constructing a building, you start with the foundations and move outward. Perhaps the church could use that thought, before any knee jerk reaction.

By my understanding, as RC. The Apostles Creed was a statement of faith by the early Christians, who lived in a time, not that long after the mission in this world of Jesus. A creed that was later updated by the Nicene Creed.

This is one I will certainly look out for.

I agree, Calm. After watching movies of this type. I tend to look at the actual historical side of the story and then come away better informed. Although, like yourself. I prefer the factual documentary, rather than the fictionalised drama.
