If the LDS is bringing to the attention of it's members the events leading up to Easter Sunday. Maybe it is just that, bringing to the attention the events, rather than giving them any individual significance within their own right. And just as a point of reference. The Catholic Church refers to Maundy Thursday/Good Friday/Easter Sunday, as the Easter Triduum. Basically, in my understanding of this. Three parts, of a ongoing connected event. Although, a teacher in Catholicism, could give a better account of this than I ever could. And I sincerely hope that one day. Terms such as "Whore of the World" will no longer be used for the Catholic Church, or any other faith or belief.

I imagine, in the early days of Utah. As with a number of other states, it was very much early days. People settling, the land being developed, new business enterprises only just starting up. I expect it would take some time for the state to become organised.

I have had an interest in history since a young. Recently decided to learn about the history of the USA. Although I am familiar with the general history of America, I thought it maybe of interest to dig a bit deeper on the subject matter. Is there anybody on the Dialogue who could point out a good YouTube or online material that may at least give me a good start on the matter. I especially would like to start on the history of Utah. Any suggestions welcome, thanks.

Then I take it, your issue is with the Church of Jesus of Latter Day Saints not the Catholic Church.

Rather than get involved in any discussion in this post, I just wanted to add some information, which people here may already be aware of. In the 1960s, the Catholic Church held the Second Vatican Council. One of the many things to occur as a result of this Council. Was for the Catholic Church to become more acceptable of other Christian Churches, and aside from Doctirnal matters. Hence, Pope John Paul 2, the Polish Pope, holding a gathering at Assisi of various Christian Churches, and also other Faiths. To my knowledge I don't think the LDS were not there, for whatever reason. Although differences, I would hope. That we could all offer the hand of friendship to each other, rather than offering condemnation.

Just catching up on the Kevin Costner Robin Hood Prince of Thieves. Part of my Back to the Past revisit. Looks slightly dated now, some may say that the story is set a few centuries ago, so it would look dated 😁. It is still good fun to watch I think.

Hi Notatbm I can, from my own perspective appreciate what you are saying. I think the similarities between RC Church and the LDS, is a phrase that is familiar to older RC Church attendees. The phrase being 'Meat on the Bones', this meaning doctrine and beliefs which are sustained by information. I think our two traditions meet that criteria. I have found, at least in my own Church, a calling for adaption and change to fit the needs of others. And in a sense to modernise for the sake of modernisation. So I can appreciate where you are coming from.

As a Catholic myself, with a high respect for LDS. I just wanted to contribute to this discussion. I am no expert in Theology or Doctrine of the Catholic Church, let alone any other Church. My understanding of the matter is as follows. The resurrection of Jesus took place on (Easter) Sunday. The early Christian leaders, took to breaking of the bread on this particular day, Sunday. So, as I understand, all Churches, have all continued with this particular practice. So when I hear it said, we do not follow as the Roman Catholics do, it would seem to me at least, that they do.

My own understanding of AI, which I admit is limited. It can only operate within the realms of how it has been programmed. Where as a human can operate on existing knowledge, as well as search for further knowledge and understanding.

I think, as we get older, our outlook takes different angles and perspectives. This, I feel is our knowledge taking shape through life experiences, and our interactions with other people. People may drift from one position, but come back at a later date, with their perspective tuned from their own individual experience. As for myself, I came to this Dialogue, from my own standpoint. Completely out of my own comfort zone, to help me progress as an individual, hopefully for the better. I believe we all raised questions, or look for answers in different places. Possibly, some of the more commited members of this Dialogue, are looking for their own answers.

Just watched a 2002 made for TV adaptation of the Sherlock Holmes story, Hound of the Baskervilles. Richard E Grant is in one of the supporting roles. I missed this when it first aired on TV. Managed to catch it this time around, and found it to be quite good adaption.

This is far from my subject matter. And I am far from knowledgeable on this matter, as the majority of people on this Dialogue. I just felt the need to have my say regarding, how an uneducated farm boy, like Joseph Smith, could be chosen to deliver the message he did. In my basic understanding of the Bible. There are a number of people, who from humble beginnings, were brought forward to do the work of God. One example from the Old Testament, is David, who became King of Israel. In the New Testament, the Disciples came from every day positions. I have always ran with the belief. That is by God's own choosing, who he calls on to perform specific tasks in this world. I am completely out of my comfort zone, posting this. Just wanted to contribute, as this post of Analytics caught my interest.

I think that there have been terms used by people of certain races or religions to identify themselves. The same terms are picked upon by certain individuals, and used in a condescending way when referring to the group of people. Just as an example. Here in the UK, the citizens of Britain may refer to themselves as 'Brits'. However, people from elsewhere, may use the same phrase, but using a different tone of speech, in a condescending way. Although that is an example of what I am trying to say, and something that I have never experienced myself. There are adjectives which are wrong to use. However some, I find are dependent on the manner that they are used.

As we grow from childhood to adulthood. Along the way, we may feel hard done by or confused by the attitude of parents to us. However, along the way as we become adults ourselves, and fortunate cases, parents ourselves. In many ways, we start to understand the attitude of our parents towards us. I feel this is how God is with his people. Sometimes we maybe confused by the things God does, or allows. But in time as we grow in knowledge, and allow ourselves to be open to his calling. We can understand that what is being done is for the best. Even at times if we are confused by the events God allows. We just need to trust in him as we would a parent who is there for us.

Maybe God, in certain circumstances at least. Allows people to work things out for themselves. If that doesn't work out as planned, maybe that is when God intervenes. This could be through prompting people accordingly.

This is a movie I have fond memories myself. I have been trying to catch-up on the films of yesteryear. This is one of those movies that I want to revisit. Great movie, one of Bill Murrays best.

I found, in my own opinion there seems to be a normal process for people to be called and serve others. The first way is through there own specific Church, whichever one that may. This may involve being called by a Church leader, or maybe offering there services. Helping in their own Church community, if done in the correct way can help build up the Church community to have more of a generic family feel about it. Especially if it means helping those less mobile, and those with health issues. As well as performing Church related functions. The second way may involve the wider social community as a whole. Where an individual person may choose to help at a charity shop, a hospital or any other places that has volunteers helping. The individual person helping will still be responding to a call. Although through a more individual calling.

That is something I never thought about. Being put into a situation that a person would not have considered. Especially being put alongside people that not automatically be another persons choice. I see how it would help a person to grow a better understanding of themselves, and of others.
