Colorado fined for fans’ bad behaviour at game against BYU
Tony uk replied to Calm's topic in General Discussions
If alcohol is what is manifesting the problem. Then maybe the fans could be forewarned, that if the behaviour continues as it is then, then the vendors would be charged extra, to cover the cost of any future fines. Alcohol contributing to the problem, vendor is charged, prices rise, the majority suffering for the minority. The prospect of this happening could bring about peer pressure, people keeping a check on each other, and taking a response for each other. -
Colorado fined for fans’ bad behaviour at game against BYU

There has been issues in UK sport, and also across Europe. Mainly in soccer, although last number of years things have settled down. Maybe if there could be more family areas in the stadiums. And limit the use of alcohol to specific areas, may help. -
Shooting at church in Grand Blanc Michigan. Pray
Tony uk replied to bsjkki's topic in General Discussions
I just wanted to respond, with regards to some of the posts. I do so, as an outsider looking in. What I say, I do so as a mid fifties RC. In the various forms of contact I have had with LdS, either in person, or through various media. LdS are people that I have always felt the most comfortable with. A strong commitment to faith, with a knowledge based of faith. Kind, friendly, supportive, attitudes shown to all people not just within their own community. The attributes that I have found, have not been in any weakness, but from an inner strength. The respect that I have for all LdS, has grown in the last year that I have been able to be on this forum. Rather than people attacking LdS, in whatever form. Either through action or word, is done out of ignorance, imo.- 207 replies

It is sad when a Christian Church, regardless of Doctrine, or specific teaching, is attacked, either with violence, or by word. -

A video explaining that Robinson may not be the shooter.

I imagine this has the potential to become the modern JFK talking point. Is there a patsy, different angles, people in frame behaving in a certain way, various groups alleged to be involved. Fact and conspiracy theories abundance of, in equal measure. -
I'm sure you will enjoy yourself, over here in the UK. Bring an umbrella, there's a reputation for rain the further north of the UK you go.

I have never been fortunate to have children. However, I imagine there will always be an intense love of ones own children. Parental protection of the child, even when that child becomes an adult.

I admire your artistic side. Although I do not have the patience ( unfortunately), for painting. Well done Tacenda

When someone near, friend or relatives, does something wrong. There can be a sense of anger, and hurt. Depending on what has been done wrong by the person or persons. The feelings that come, as a response to what has happened, will most probably have a stem from the love that exists with that person. Love between people will show itself in different forms, in different relationships. Husband and wife, brother and sister, friends and neighbours. So when anger, or hurt has been caused in one of these relationships. There is always a possibility of forgiveness existing because of the love which exist in those relationships. Although, forgiveness can exist, that does not mean we forget what has happened, or make that wrong go away. Sometimes, it is human pride that can get in the way of forgiveness. As for forgiveness of strangers. I would reference Jesus on the cross. Asking God to forgive his crucifiers, for they did not know what they were doing. Love of a stranger is a different relationship, a different type of love. Non the less, forgiveness is still possible, imo, as long as we can overcome our human weaknesses, which can prevent us from doing God's will in this world.

Amazing Grace is one of my all time favourites, and when sung well, it sounds fantastic. -
I am still heavily influenced by the Christopher Reeve films. May give this one a try 👍.

My sentiments also. A life is a life, regardless of who's life that it maybe. And for people to celebrating the cold blooded murder of a person, this can not be considered appropriate behaviour. I find it all very, very sad. -
I was wondering if anybody has heard how the Mission President is keeping since he was shot.

I believe what I know, and I know what I believe. Confusing I know, but the opening remark, somehow, had made sense to me over the years. Imo, the more we come into contact with others, the more our life experience develops, and from there, this helps with our knowledge building, and in turn how our beliefs develop. Coming to this board, I hoped to develop my my own belief in Christianity. Also to gain a larger understanding of LdS which is happening. I have never felt pressured by anyone here. And also, no pressure from any missionaries that I have come into contact. When people join a Church, LdS, RC or any Church I expect there will an expectation that the new member accepts the ways and specific teachings of the Church they are joining.

There have been a lot of view raised within this topic regarding. A democracy and free speech are marvelous gifts that are within our grasp, as long as the free speech is not misused to deliberately ridicule or be harmful. This is something that all people should be mindful of. Imo, a democracy, one that holds to free speech. Then people need to understand, that at times, they are going to hear things that they not support, or feel comfortable with. Rather than progress to anger, and fist wave. It is better, imo, to discuss with other people, listen to them, and learn about other people's point of view. Just because there is a difference of view, does not necessarily make anybody right or wrong. Resorting to violence, only makes people adamant in there view point. -

With you, on this Calm. Over the last few years in the UK as whole. Knife crime seems to have been on the rise, listening to media reports. Various initiatives have taken place, handing in of dangerous weapons. However, considering the various types of nives available, and the various domestic needs for this item. It is virtually impossible to cut out the knife as a dangerous weapon. Although, I am not inclined to dictate to another country how to deal with it's own affairs. Maybe if the US tightened it's gun licencing laws. Higher the age of gun user, limit the amount of guns owned in one household, and also by a person. The various weapons by type, be limited to type. Maybe this is already place, not my place, just trying to be helpful to all sides of the argument. I just hope the US can overcome any problems it is dealing with. -

I find it so very sad, certain individuals or groups, feel the need to take a life, on a whim. After taking onboard reports from various media sources, I hope and pray that people of all Nationalities/Creeds/Cultures. Can learn to live with each other, rather than resorting to unneeded acts of aggression. -
Spiritual Experiences as Valid Means to Determine Truth
Tony uk replied to stelf's topic in General Discussions
I think God will always get through to us, in our human form, in ways we can understand. I feel it is down to the willingness of the individual to interpret the message. Lots wife, while fleeing Sodom was told not to look back at the destruction. She looked back and turned into a pillar of salt. It is, I feel, for the specific individual to be open to God's message, and to interpret it accordingly. -
Thought this was a very good way of putting it. The saying that goes 'Look at the Big Picture'. We may need to look in the picture, to find a small piece of what we are looking for. It is down to the specific person to search for what they are seeking. It is down to the willingness of the person to look, and with persistence, at times.

About 20 years ago, in my early 30s. I decided to learn chess. A book and chess board bought to help me learn, at least the basics of the game. I have managed to get a few games online, where I have been resoundly beaten, but all in the intention of learning. I just wondered if any others of this board have taken on hobbies, at a more mature stage in life.
