  1. I have always felt, at least from my own angle on the matter. That prayer and fasting, is way of showing a commitment to what is being called for. And for God to see the persons desire for the outcome to be acceptable. If God then desires the outcome to be done in a certain way, so it will.
  2. Since my early retirement, at 56 at the end of years. As a result of ailments and age, my healthcare team have recommended a healthier lifestyle. I have, for a number of weeks, have a exercise walk of about a mile. This is near my home and is more of a circuit. Also, and the teams main concern, was better eating habits. I have begun eating more salads, and drinking more water and fruit juice. I was wondering if anybody on the Dialogue, had any advice or suggestions in relation to this. Any input, of any kind is most welcome.
  3. This one looks interesting, I will keep a lookout for this. Thanks for the tip.
  4. I seem to be of a similar mind to yourself and husband. There seems to be little that grabs the attention these days.
  5. Just watched Independence Day again. Basically know the film scene for scene, seen it so often. I think I need to start watching some more modern films. There is not really that much that catches my eye at the moment.
  6. The only issue that I have been having is slow loading of board. Was not sure if it was at my end
  7. I felt the need to share some good news on this forum. Just had some test results come back to me via my doctor, all clear. I have a hospital appointment coming up, and will be having a few tests there. As things stand I am feeling confident of the results in advance. I just wanted to share my good news somewhere. After my friend/neighbour, I just wanted to share my relief here.
  8. Many thanks for your message, very much appreciated. I am not having the issues from a few weeks ago, recovering has been strength sapping. My doctor has referred me to hospital for a check up and tests. Hopefully I should not have to wait to long for the outcome. I have begun to look into a number of things to keep me busy in early retirement. Myself, and a friend have always had an interest in old trains, the steam type. There are a number of places in the North of England that operate as Historical Trusts. So that is one area of interest to occupy my time.
  9. There's a few more hours to go here in the UK. Best wishes for the New Year 👍.
  10. Many thanks Kenngo. Just waiting on some final test results, and hopefully New Year, new start, or restart, depending on view point 😁
  11. Navidad, I am so very sorry for your loss. You certainly have had some difficult situations to deal with. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
  12. Absolutely correct.
  13. Unfortunately, after my initial post, had a relapse of an health issues. However, now on the road to full recovery. Part of the recovery process, is visiting this dialogue. Now my retirement is in full swing so to speak. I can start planning ahead.
  14. I have been away for a few weeks. Sort of fell in with my retirement. Unfortunately, had a spot of I'll health, coming back to earth now, and revisiting the Dialogue for my intellectual development Glad to see everyone posting. Keep up the good work one and all.
  15. The LdS has meat on the bone so to speak. There is doctrine which is based on belief. And also, an organised leadership. This unfortunately will make it a target, for others.
  16. I believe it to be a commandment, and advice. In my own thought process, one of the ways we can show our true nature, is through speech. Jesus, in his Earthly mission, spoke with people in a grouping or as individuals..I believe he lead the way in this matter. The way in which we speak we others, is one way in which we show Christian kindness towards others, and also about others.
  17. I've found, in some cases, what people can not reasonably argue against. They try and make fun of, or try and fault find. If the LdS is being targeted by whatever means. Maybe because the LdS is rightly on a higher ground to the people taking aim. I hope that makes sense 😃.

    Retirement

Well yesterday, Friday. I finished my last working day, on leave now before I formally retire. Mixed emotions, lots of memories, and leaving with a lot more friends than I realised that I had. However, as one chapter ends, a new one begins. I am certainly looking forward to the new start.

    Retirement

I think, maybe I should have used the title early retirement (I am mid fifties). By the end of this year I will have taken retirement from my job. This is, as a mix of health, personal and professional reasons. I just wondered if any of the contributers to the Board, had any ideas, or thoughts to pass on to someone who is about to enter this stage of life. I have a few ideas, which include, travel, and purchasing a bicycle for exercise and also for short distance travel. Also, volunteer work, to help keep active and meeting people. Any thoughts, suggestions and ideas are most welcome.
  23. I certainly appreciate this post and the context. In my own view, over time. People may have attempted to give an image of God, that may have suited there own thoughts process. Rather than the God the father, who Jesus taught, and spoke about. Some people may prefer to go with the God of anger, retribution and damnation.
  24. This is something that I can appreciate in my own way. It is easy to understand how someone is feeling if I have been through the same or similar experience. However, if I do not have a shared experience. Then I can try and understand how the person is feeling, and support them the best that I can.
  25. Also the more modern composers, such as Enio Marraconi and Vangellis . Seem almost in the past now.
