Thank you all. I got the grab bar installed in Dad's bathroom. That's 5 total not counting what's in the safe step shower. I never have the fasteners I need even though I have a bunch. Now I just have a trip to the hated Wal-Mart to get Dad's scrips. They're really nice at the pharmacy but the road to there is jam-packed since Google streets became a thing. They run everybody right down our road to get from Moreno Valley to Redlands. Just Google Archibald farm and you can see my dad's place.

I need to build a handicap ramp but it won't be a legal ramp. It would stick 2 feet out into the driveway to make it 1 and 12 ratio. So I'm debating whether just to make it two and 12 Ratio or go as long as I can and not hit the driveway. I guess that works out to about 1 and 10 and a half ratio. Right now there are three steps 5 and 1/2 in high. We have other handicapped people on the property too. Leroy had a stroke and he uses dad's shower and it's hard in the wheelchair to get up the steps.

I would ask an expert.   The last thing you want to do is build one that won't work or that endangers the users.    There should be disability outfits or maybe even something online that will help you make it work.

Late to the party, but prayers for you my friend.  And your dad.  And your wife.  And your cats.  Piling it on thick, not spreading it thin.

That's the problem my rise is 16 in so I would need to go out 16 ft and it only have 14 ft before it gets to the driveway.

How much does it overhang the driveway. Would it prevent access of the car to the garage?

Is there a way to double back to decrease the slope, though operating a wheelchair around turns is a pain.

If you want to post a photo of the house where it goes, maybe someone will get a brilliant brainstorm after looking at the issue.

Well I didn't take any photos but I could certainly use more patience. The doctor said be here early for your appointment now we're waiting 45 minutes and I have to drive 12 hours when I get out of here.

That so bugs me when it happens. My doctors are usually very good with reasonable wait times and always apologize when late, so most of the time no big deal. But time is not money for me, I have quite a bit of extra time laying around here and there.  Still I am not a waiter or at least so not a patient one, so once it gets longer than 20 minutes the annoyance starts to grow. 45 minutes is definitely in the getting a bit pissed off range. As in I think the office should call about a delay that long if they are aware of it an hour or more before an appointment.

Speaking, with regards to the UK.Many doctors, hospitals. Suggest that patients are expected to arrive on time, with the passive suggestion a late arrival may result in the patient not being seen by the doctor. Maybe that could be reversed, where the doctor and medical are expected to stick with the arranged appointment, except for unforseen circumstances.

My doctors have started making appointments at say 10:30am lately and then in an email, text and call they will send a reminder for my appointment at 10:15 am.  The first time I thought I must have put it in my phone wrong though I thought that odd.  Then I realized the next appointment, they were all sending early reminders.
