Peter Santello starts a series of videos on the Mormons

Does anyone else watched Peter Santello videos?  Dude has a youtube channel with 3 million subscribers.  He basically goes into different communities in the US, finds some folks willing to talk about those communities, and asks a million dumb questions and learns.  Indian reservations, Chicago's most violent hood, Appalachia, Las Vegas sex workers, US border towns, Amish, Hasidic Jewish enclaves, etc.   I've probably watched a dozen over the last few years.  They are fascinating glimpses into worlds I know nothing about.  Dude shows up with genuine interest, his only goal is to go, as an outsider, into a place and learn straight from the source.  

3 days ago, he released the first of several promised videos on Mormons.   

Cool stuff.  He found a BYU student history buff who walked him all around SLC and Provo.  I look forward to his next LDSocentric videos.

I’ve previously stumbled on and watched a couple. I respect your opinion, so will probably look for more of his videos. You know, in the middle of the night when I do most of my YouTube watching. 🤷‍♀️

I don't need this.  YouTube keeps me up all night as it is.  There is always something happening.

How very cool.  I am reminded of Stendahl’s Three Rules of Religious Understanding:

This fellow is following Rule #1 well.  Glad to see it.

I helped my sister move out from there, all I got to see was the Salt Lake Temple square near Christmas time a night. I also beheld the black ice when going down the hilled roads out of town. I remember how incurably dry my lips were.

Holy crap that was a fascinating hour.  He interviewed members of a polygamist sect, not the FLDS.  They called themselves CoJCoLDS-Righteous Branch.  I guess they have a building in St. George and a temple in Nevada?

Most fascinating quote: "We're not fishers of men, we're more like hunters." - one of the women, talking about how they try to grow their membership.

These folks believe/teach the adam-God doctrine.  Benjamin the tour guide used to be a mainstream LDS temple worker.  They apparently have a version of a Jewish Yamaka.   Everyone tried hard to be respectful of 'the Brigamites', while offering a few pointed criticisms of the mainstream church.  Peter asked them if the SLC church was Bud Lite and they were original Bud, and they all laughed.  They offered another analogy - SLC church is decaf coffee and 'we're caffinated'.   So fascinating!
