Because I've learned since leaving the church, that there's absolutely nothing that can be said to convince a mormon or a mmber of any other cult that they're in a cult. The fear of possibly going to hell if totally letting go of the religion you grew up in is so strong, there's nothing that can actually be said to convince most people they're in a cult.

Out of curiosity when did you leave?

Everyone here knows you ain't shxx without Nemesis protecting you. A real man comes along and tells the truth about what Mormons really believe and you shrink in a corner like a dried up foreskin. No worries!! Hell be here soon to protect you!!

Fun fact: Anyone who describes himself as a real man is channeling the insecure little boy within.

It is okay little guy. One day you will find your confidence and won’t have to throw silly internet tantrums to get attention.

If you'll be honest for one second, please answer this, is there any part of Christianity that God entrusted with priesthood authority besides the Mormon church? If no, please explain why.

Christ gave his authority to the apostles. The apostles spread out around the world (well, the middle/near east) preaching and establishing churches with their authority. They were killed off and were unable to meet together and ordain new apostles. This left the Christian church without leaders and apostolic authority. Doctrines and ordinances were changed, sometimes by good meaning Christians, sometimes by nefarious Christians. Over time, there was no longer priesthood authority to administer the ordinances and declare true teachings.

God restored this priesthood authority to Joseph Smith and others around him. Apostolic authority was returned, so now ordinances were valid. Smith and others, on the basis of this authority and revelation from God, restored the true doctrines as well. Because of the apostasy and restoration, the only true priesthood authority resides in the LDS church. Ordinances performed by those without priesthood authority are not valid.

How's that from a non-LDS guy?

And what's so problematic about that?

The Catholic Church also teaches that she alone has full priesthood authority (the exception is those pesky Orthodox schismatics, ha). Do you have an issue with that, too? Are you going to pull out some quotes from 17th century popes about non-Catholics and tell everyone that is what I think of them?

I can't stand anti Mormons! Most anti Mormons have created some kind of anti mormon religion that is worst than what the brethren teach

But... you're acting like the "perfect" anti-mormon! You're being so anti-mormon that you're a caricature.

To quote Macbeth: It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

Says the guy that spends every day on a forum trying to act tuff. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 You're pathetic and why don't you tell the truth and come clean, no one believes you think mormonism is true.

Mocking you is not acting tough. It is not even really challenging. It is fun though.

Typical small brained and small penis mormon man, can't defend the facts so you start bullying.  No worries,  I'm your huckleberry!!

Weak playground insults delivered with not sense of artistry or style and festooning the whole thing with grammar and spelling errors. You will have to do better than this if you want to graduate from Trolling 101. D-, see me after class.

Well, if you're going to try and tell people how wrong they are using a written medium you might work on your writing skill so at least those you are attacking have an idea of what you are trying to say. Right now, I would say you are only qualified to stand on a corner holding a sign that says "Jesus Saves".

I don't have yo square ****! You're the Mormon,

Right, you're just here to troll, and not for truth or real understanding.  So you don't have to "square" anything.  Nothing really matters, right?

You're the Mormon, you have to tell everyone why Brigham and Joseph preached that Christianity is a perfect pack of nonsense and from the devil! You're deflecting because you can't defend what they preached.

Ah, but I can.  Just read the context.  Your out of context quotes are old school, from a day when people couldn't check the sources easily.  But now everything is online.

Take your Elder's Journal quote for example, the full context can be found here:   https://www.josephsmithpapers.org/paper-summary/elders-journal-august-1838/10#full-transcript

That Elder's Journal article is about Doctor Philastus Hurlbut and Eber D. Howe's anti-Mormon book, Mormonism Unvailed [sic].  The "priests" mentioned in the article have to do with those associated with Hurlburt and Howe.  Hurlbut was a Methodist preacher but was baptized as a Latter-day Saint, but was later excommunicated for adultery.  He became bitter against Joseph Smith (and even threatened to kill him), and he began travelling throughout the country giving lectures against Mormonism.  As Benjamin Winchester put it:

"I would here observe, that while he [Hurlbut] was in connexion with the church of Latter Day Saints, the preachers and priests of the different denominations heaped their calumny upon the Society for fellowshipping him; and made a stumbling block of him, and said there was no mark of a Christian about him. But no sooner had he made his appearance, as the champion of sectarianism, and the assailant of Mormonism, than churches, chapels and meeting houses were crowded to hear him."

There is a very important context to every one of those quotes.

I'm not anti mormon at all. I'm about the truth and I truly believe the truth will set mormonism free.

But you said, "I don't have yo square ****! "   That's not an attitude about truth.  You are contradicting yourself.

To any catholics or Christians reading this, this is what Mormons truly think about you. This is what I grew up believing and this is what the members of this board grew up believing.

And the church had 3 hours of church a few years ago. And the church put out that leaders were racist in the Priesthood and the blacks Gospel Topic Essays. Things change, even the temple changes are extremely different now. When you were a believing LDS on a mission or was that made up? While believing, how many changes have there been? Alot! So why bring up things in the past, that the church has moved away from? And since each new prophet is the current authority. And BTW, I stay in the church because I like my friends, tried it outside of the church, friends, and it's not the same because of my conditioning. I don't believe in hell or Satan though so put that smack away.

Do you realize being a mormon missionary is the ultimate trolling adventure one can embark on?? There's nothing serious about a mormon mission. It's all smoke and mirrors. If mormonism wants to survive the brethren need to figure out something really fast or it will just be a bunch of rich white guys living off the interest from the 300 billion dollars they don't share with the poor.

So you don't want to answer to what you said and my response.  I get it.

Going try you dumb fxxx! Keep lying! So now you're trying say mormonism of the 1800s is irrelevant? Of course you are. The quotes I supplied are from the men that built this church, were chosen to restore the gospel apparently,  but because Mormons are trying to become Christian, now the past of Mormonism is relevant? That's fuxxxxx bullxxxx and you know it!! Good try though.

You calling people names detracts a lot from your message.  If I was looking for someone under the influence of the Spirit to teach truth your posts would show me--solely by virtue of your anger and disrespect--that it's not you.  If you really want people to listen to your message, you could work on sounding less like the message is coming from bad influences.

Maybe the anger comes from a place of hurt, and if so I'm truly sorry and hope that you can heal.

Mormon missionaries are selling a belief system that's the ultimate in trolling the gullible.

This has been my experience with people infected by anti-Mormon literature from years ago:  They throw out out-of-context quotes, and when real truth answers are given to what was posted, they ignore the truth and the answers and go on to a different topic.  That's also the definition of a troll:

"In slang, a troll is a person who posts or makes inflammatory, insincere, digressive,[1] extraneous, or off-topic messages online (such as in social media, a newsgroup, a forum, a chat room, an online video game), or in real life, with the intent of provoking others into displaying emotional responses,[2] or manipulating others' perception, thus acting as a bully or a provocateur. The behavior is typically for the troll's amusement, or to achieve a specific result such as disrupting a rival's online activities or purposefully causing confusion or harm to other people.[3]"

Same! I feel like he's got a great 💜, just frustrated. He's got to understand that people go to church for a lot of reasons. But do agree, that a church is unhealthy if it does what Scientology or JW's do. The church may have had a period of time it did do things similar and some in the church do it still, but my main beef with Mike is that if Mario gets joy in the church, let him!! Did you see this @Truth Teller?

Look here you true blue mormon! Let me say it one more time! You are not special,  you are not chosen, you weren't reserved for the last days to be a warrior fir the Mormon gospel. You're just a regular person and know on this earth needs your fake priesthood to be saved,  no matter what your mommy taught you!

AtlanticMike, my heart goes out to you.  Please take a deep breath and look closely at what you're attitude is really communicating to others here.

I'm not angry, I'm an *******🤣🤣. Truthfully I liked talking to you in the past, you seem like you're a straight shooter. But mormonism, atleast the churchy part of Mormonism will ultimately die a slow death if the brethren don't start talking the truth. The Mormon empire will never die. They've collected and saved so much money the Mormon empire will always be around.

I think the "churchy" part will be around for a long while.   And it'll move on despite your anger about it.  The best way to become a truth teller for yourself is probably to disengage with the rage and find those spiritual truths elsewhere that give you peace.

You just aren't going to be able to convince anyone that a grown man hurling 7th grade level insults and language at people is more spiritually enlightened than they are.  It's not a rational expectation.

Your religion doesn't hurl 7th grade insults, it hurls lies to convince people they're following the temptings of Satan. No one discusses the bad parts of Mormonism and how it tears families apart when they convert a family member away from the religion the faml has enjoyed sometimes for hundreds of years. Why is that hurt and pain never discussed?

Probably for the same reason that no reasonable person goes up to a couple about to get married and tries to have a discussion with them about how marriage tears families apart and causes pain and hurt, even though some marriages do turn out that way.

It's not marriage that is causes the pain, but imperfect (and sometimes evil) people that cause it.

Did u go on a mission? If so, please take a deep breath and take a good look at what your actions might of dine to many happy families. No one talks about the destruction mormon missionaries cause when pulling people away from families and the family system they grew up in. I know dozens of Mormons that accept the church and at the same time lost their family.  Why I that never discussed?

I went on a mission, yes.  And we (my companion and I) baptized families (they are happy families), and a few individuals.  When pulling individuals away from families by them accepting the gospel, it sometimes causes division, but it's a division that Jesus said would come (as you should know if you read the New Testament - see Luke 12:40-53 from this week's Come Follow Me Lesson :) ).

Edit:  I feel I should quote the verse completely, given some of your latest comments:

49 ¶ I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled?
50 But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened till it be accomplished!
51 Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division:
52 For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three.
53 The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
(Luke 12:49–53)

What about mother and father that feel gutted because they feel like they list a family member to the teachings of a cult?

What about them?

Think of it this way, if a mother and father feel gutted because their child married a person of a difference race and the parents believe it's a sin, does that mean that the parents feelings are reasonable and that interracial marriage shouldn't be allowed?

No of course it doesn't mean that.  Someone's hurt at the choices of another does not automatically mean the choice is wrong.  Sometimes good choices still cause hurt in other people, usually because those people are misguided.

Mormonism seeks out poor people and especially vulnerable people to convert. It's taught in preach my gospel! Mormonism seeks them out so they'll start paying tithing. It's that simple!

Why would mormonism seek out poor people to get their money??  Think about that a little more clearly.

You broke up families because you grew up in a church that taught you you had to go on a mission,  you didn't have a choice. A mormon mission is one of the most selfish and narcissistic endeavors one can go on. You'll never understand while being a true blue mormon. And I u believe all the people u converted are happy and their family is happy then you're cookoo for coco puffs my friend!

But Jesus said his doctrine would break up families (I quoted the verses where he said that).  How do you square your accusations above with what Jesus said about the gospel?  (And I know you don't want to or need to "square" anything, you're just here to troll and stir things up).

And I did (and still do) have a choice.  I choose the gospel of Jesus Christ.

I gotta go! But if I remember correctly, you have a son, please for his sake, do some research about the church, for him, please! I ultimately decided leave for my kids so they didn't have to deal with mormonism. It's never to late!

I’ve been a member of this board since 2006 I think. There is no “research” that I haven’t been exposed to.  We talk about it all on here. It’s one of the reasons I like this board.
