Yeah, I think, especially (and unfortunately), what you say is true of the Wasatch Front. I'm going to arrogate myself to speak for all Utahns in saying that we would hate to lose you and yours. There are some bucolic, lovely burgs with friendly people in Utah outside the Wasatch Front, but I recognize, also, that people have to make a living, and that may not be so easy to do in other parts of the state, Alas! Tacenda Posted June 11, 2023 Posted June 11, 2023 (edited) I just returned from visiting for a couple of days my son and daughter-in-law in Boise, Idaho. I was depressed when we reached the Utah/Idaho state line, even the roads were night and day worse than Idaho's and it was so calm and quiet even in such a large city such as downtown Boise. Lots of people strolling downtown but something about the traffic or roads seem like they didn't have many stoplights, just stop signs. And the people seemed so chill. We did take a bike ride down the Greenbelt river and there were so many things going on with singers, restaurants and people enjoying the outdoors along the way. Edited June 11, 2023 by Tacenda

In less than 12 months we’ve had three people killed and one person shot in three separate road rage incidents. It doesn’t seems quite as easy peasy as it used to be. My husband, who despises California, would rather drive on the 405 through LA pulling a trailer than drive on I-15. The Californians have much better manners and won’t purposely go out of their way to screw you over. I’ve never driven anywhere where just passing someone is likely to get you flipped off, except Utah. But I’ve never driven in DC. Maybe they are jerks too. 1

My husband and I drove in DC and it wasn't a problem in the city, but there was a huge wreck on the freeway. California is nice, and all the years I was scared to drive it are out the window, thinking California drivers drive fast. But in reality they have slower speed limits than Utah now. Utahans are scary as all get out drivers, agreed!

You put your turn signal on and they would actually let you in! Here people will speed up to keep you from being able to get over, or speed up when you are trying to pass them so you can't. It's insane and really really odd. Who cares if someone passes you?? 1

I best stay away from Utah for a while. From my experience driving across Canada, and driving extensively in the US (mostly on interstates) plus 10s of thousands of miles (well, km ) in Mexico, nothing is quite as "fast & furious" as DC, NYC, and (perhaps worst of all) Quebec. 2

Massachusetts had really rude drivers, I thought. But I agree about CA vs Utah. Driving in the SLC valley is scary. 1

Though, Amazon polluting the skyline with acres upon acres of warehouses, the romney group holding secret meetings with county officials to ram-rod "ports" through, irresponsible housing development - a surf development being built in southern utah which will loose 136acres of water a year to evaporation, kennecot tailings pond full of heavy metals that get blown into the air by wind storms, ... I guess it is a matter of perspective.
