When will YSA stakes lead to MSA stakes? (Middle-aged Single Adult)

Got siblings, in-laws, etc. who aged out of YSA.

Regular family wards w/ a MSA contingent/group, to me, don't seem facilitative of marriage.

So, what say you, friends?

Don’t take this the wrong way…but you’re proposing to get a bunch of people who aged out of the singles ward together in a ward all their own…

It gonna be cringe city 😬

I know of 2 MSA wards in the Washington DC area.

 Resisting the urge to imagine a church ward for undesirables.

But seriously, 40 is the new 30. I don't know why Singles Wards need to be "Young" Singles or marry within their own decade per se. My YSA and Institue had an older fellow, just hanging out with the guys and a big help with rides. I don't know whether they are discouraged from attending.

It is really hard to know who is single at a family ward, I heard my ward, at least once, hosted a ward event night for all singles.

You have to have numbers for that. I served in a MSA Ward in the LA years ago and IIRC it was for all of the LA area and the criteria was if you want to drive here every Sunday (it was in Glendale) then you are welcome but they didn't want ward hopping so if you are here than you are here and not elsewhere. It seemed viable at least then

The YSA ward bishops tend to have problems with the "older" members asking out the younger members of the ward. I know that is a generalization, but it was the case in my ward back in the day. The Bishop was pretty lenient about aging out, within reason, but if any members felt uncomfortable with someone who should have moved on, the Bishop was the catalyst.

This is more serious of an issue when their are significant numbers of new college grads in a ward, so 25 and younger. The older singles were integrated into a family ward in the same building as the YSA ward. Most of my friends that were still single and aged out opted to move on to the older ward because most of their social group was in the same boat.

I don’t think putting this age group together and expecting it will facilitate marriage to work. It sounds awful. Also church with only older singles just sounds incredibly depressing.

In my CA stake we have young single adult and then just Single Adult  that takes care of everyone else. Don't see a need for anything in between.
