DT_ Posted August 31, 2022 Posted August 31, 2022 Ten years ago the story of a haunted video game went viral. The game Sonic.EXE was supposedly created by a cult. So, I have some questions. What does LDS doctrine teach about Satan? Is Satan a real being who has powers? Or is Satan a metaphor? Could there be some truth to the story of Sonic.EXE? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_creepypastas#Sonic.exe The other day I watched this video. The video is about an abandoned funeral home. According to the video, the owner left because she saw the dead coming back to life. Can things like that really happen? Happy Halloween Season! I'm taking a break from this board.

Pumpkin spice cupcakes with cream cheese frosting, maybe? Bowls of your favorite candies left out for you to have as much as you want? Fresh harvest feasts? Much of the associated stuff you mention doesn't really pertain to Halloween, as such, but pertains to harvest time, and end of summer festivities. As for the candies, that happens year-round with me. My favorite pie is pumpkin pie. It has nothing really to do with Halloween. Halloween originates with apostate Christianity and its pantheon of saints, as mixed in with pagan festivals such as Samhain, which was vaguely Christianized by Halloween (or so say some). I went out Trick-or-treating like every other child in the US, but didn't really like it then, either. As an adult I never set out Halloween treats and left my porch dark. I have no objection to anyone celebrating it, and I hope they have fun, but I would prefer not to participate. This is a long tradition with me, as I am now 70 years old. Not a curmudgeon, I just prefer not to participate. Perhaps saying "I hate it" was a bit exaggerated.

He said he's taking a break from the board, so I suspect this is just a topic he wanted to bring up as a point of discussion so he can see what was said when he gets back, probably after Halloween. Who knows.
Stargazer Posted August 31, 2022 Posted August 31, 2022 I should take a break from the board, too, actually. I haven't got a stitch done on my project today, all because I was tinkering with this darned place. 1

I recently took a three-month long break. Some posters took a break and never came back. Or got banned. But some of us stay here for really long times. If you look at the poster's avatar that appears to the left of their post, you will see a little speech balloon icon image below the avatar. The number next to it is the number of posts the person has posted. You, for example, have posted 5 times so far, as of this moment. The more posts, the longer the person has been here. Of course, some post more frequently than others. I've been posting here for 15 years. 11k posts. Edited August 31, 2022 by Stargazer

That is my kind of break, lol PS: do not look at my post count as an indicator of time people spend on the board. I am a definite outlier…like wayyyyy out. Edited September 1, 2022 by Calm

CA Steve Posted September 1, 2022 Posted September 1, 2022 I think that LDS doctrine requires Satan to be a literal being, though I do not find the Mormon story about the pre-existence very believable.

Calm Posted September 2, 2022 Posted September 2, 2022 (edited) Do you believe every video you see? If not, then why should we find that video the least bit credible? Edited September 2, 2022 by Calm

I once saw a YouTube video about a chupacabra that is part jackalope but with magical powers, so I ya, I totally believe that a demon Sonic exists who terrorized people to death who play a video game… But have you heard of the brain sucking eagle dog? Pictures prove they exist! Edited September 4, 2022 by pogi 1

LoudmouthMormon Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 (edited) I'll give an honest answer. Yes, satan is a real legitimate thing. But superstitious mysticism is sort of goofy. Satan doesn't need a magic board game or a haunted computer file. It's a matter of people letting in bad stuff. People chose who to follow, and how to follow them. There's also an awful lot to immature or ignorant kids and folk who can work themselves up into a fright by believing things are true. Edited September 7, 2022 by LoudmouthMormon
