We do have proof of there not being such a room

No you don't.  So you think the church has security guards but they don't arm them? You are the one that just said they probably shoot guns. If President Nelson enters the temple, do his security guards stand outside the door of the temple?

CFR on “a room with long guns”.

Hahaha! I'm not a security guard. I'm honestly hoping no one can CFR on where the room is that temple security stores their weapons. Because if someone can, security should be fired by President Nelson.  That would seriously messed up!

You’re moving the goalposts because you don’t want to be caught in a lie. No one is asking you WHERE in the temple this room with guns is, you’ve been issued multiple CFRs to provide documentation that the room exists.

It’s part of the rules you agreed to when you joined this board.  You must respond to a CFR.

Security guards for President Nelson is a completely different topic than security guards for the temple.

You have no proof of rooms with "long guns".  You have no proof of rooms with just handguns.  You are making things up.  You can't answer the CFR because you have no knowledge.  It is purely an opinion.  Please explain how we have people break into temples and not get shot by any security guard in the temple?  Why is it that every time a person breaks in, the police are called to deal with the perpetrator.  If temple security actually had guns, wouldn't they use them?  To at least subdue the perpetrator?  Why have these "secret guns" if they won't even use them?

Hollywood and real guns.  Scary

Yeah, but if it was zero dark thirty or greenzone, the old guy at the temple recommend desk would get his white clothes dirty.

It's common sense. Trust me, security guards carry weapons at the temple. Maybe not all. But some do.

Have you seen them carrying guns?

What have I said that you want a CFR on?

We assume everyone here operates in good faith. You apparently do not operate in good faith. It is prudent not to take CFRs lightly. Flippant and disingenuous responses to repeated CFRs don’t bode well for the future, especially if responders have made good-faith efforts to include sources that contradict your claims. Just as a reminder, here are the CFRs. You already know what they are for.

BANNED BEHAVIORS include but are not limited to: Refusing to provide appropriate references to support your statements.

Quote

Calm: There are 30 years of church publications online with additional materials elsewhere [on food storage].  No doubt you will be able to find some hint of this ever present discussion somewhere in there.  This is a CFR btw.

Webbles: CFR that "our main reason for collecting ... is for the LATTER DAYS and all the destruction that's going to follow the 2nd coming".  Where is that taught?  A general conference message, manual, scripture, anything?

That doesn't answer a CFR.  Yes, "Latter-day Saints" is in the name of the church but that doesn't say that our "main reason for collecting <stuff>" is for the second coming.

That still isn't answering the CFR.  It seems like you don't actually have any documentation to back up the idea that "main reason for collecting <stuff>" is for the second coming.  Since the other posters actually posted talks, manuals, etc that contradict your statement, it appears that your are wrong.

No, the CFR is on "main reason for collecting <stuff>" is for the second coming.  You keep saying that is the main reason for collecting "stuff" and you've never given any references to it.  You still haven't.

Bernard Gui: Calm and I have provided sources that support our position. You have provided none. When you are given a CFR on this board you are required to provide them. I repeat Webbles’ call for your references.

Miserear Nobis: CFR that temples have a room with guns in it. A link, a document, a blueprint, or some such thing will suffice, but it has to be a reference, not just a statement or argument from you.

Raingirl:

You’re moving the goalposts because you don’t want to be caught in a lie. No one is asking you WHERE in the temple this room with guns is, you’ve been issued multiple CFRs to provide documentation that the room exists. It’s part of the rules you agreed to when you joined this board.  You must respond to a CFR.

Here are your statements for which five long-time participants have requested references. These all have to do with your repeated claims about the reason we are instructed to store food and other necessities and that there is room of long guns in the temples.

Pre-internet we used to worry how much food storage we could fit on a handcart before it became so heavy it wouldn't be able to be pushed/pulled on the long and treacherous trip to the promised land in Missouri.

Back in the day, I remember telling members who didn't prepare, that food storage wouldn't be distributed fairly amongst the members just because they were able to make it to the church. That they needed to have their own food storage for their family. Food storage, water, ammo and weapons were huge topics before the millennium.

That was funny! I agree that the food storage conversation as of late has gravitated toward needing it for illness or job loss, but everyone knows the brethren didn't encourage storing food incase a family member gets the sniffles. In the 80s and 90s we were storing food because we were preparing for a world that was going to be cleansed with fire. You can't deny that.

Everything we do INCLUDING FOOD STORAGE  is for the end of days as we know it.

I find it hysterical that you and Calm deny why we as Mormons actually store food, guns, ammo, money, alcohol, gold, silver, clothes, first aid, water and numerous other items.

You don't find it a little comical when you say we're storing all this stuff in case there's a day we lose our job, or get a boo boo? I do. Considering we're LATTER DAY SAINTS.

You two are still tiptoeing around the fact the reason we store food, water, alcohol, gold, silver, first aid, ammo, guns, money and much more, is actually in the name of our church. Are we not LATTER DAY SAINTS? Are we not the chosen generation? Were we not reserved for the last days because we were the most valiant spirits in heaven and God knew he could depend on us to protect the Gospel? Are you and Gui trying to tell me our church is now teaching us its of utmost importance to prepare for boo boos and sniffles?

I find it laughable that you are dismissive of the main reason we have food storage is for the LATTER DAYS. Of course we can use food storage when desperate times arise, but that doesn't negate the fact that our main reason for collecting food, water, gold, silver, alcohol, first aid, guns and ammo, is for the LATTER DAYS and all the destruction that's going to follow the 2nd coming.

Why are we here on Earth? Is it to usher in the second coming? If so, is it more likely will have to live off of our food storage, or  the Del taco drive thru when all the fires and earthquakes start?

While you are at it, add these claims to the CFR list:

Quote

1. Yes! 1000s upon 1000s of Mormons store alcohol as part of their storage program

2. There's a good chance your bishop has asked at least one member of the ward to carry a gun during service just in case, did you know that to be the case?

3. 5 hours ago, mfbukowski said:Mfbukowski: You don't convert people by killing them. I don’t think that is what work for the dead is
JA::You mean like Mountain Meadows Massacre?

4. A handful of Mormons on a discussion board are afraid of ar15s.

5.

And today, young men in the church walk down streets and parking lots dressed up like nephite warriors, while holding weapons of war.

Are you LDS?

I hear footsteps approaching…..

That's impossible! And I'm glad it is! If people knew were the guns in the temple are, that wouldn't be much of a defense, would it? This is common sense. We've already established the church has a security department,  they probably have firing ranges as the article says. So it's obvious beyond belief that the security guys at the temple have guns. This is just commonsense! Is as if you guys are upset because there's weapons in the house of the lord. If there's security guards, there's weapons.

This doesn’t answer a CFR. It has to be a reference, not “common sense.” Please provide a reference or admit you do not have one.

A. Someplace around here there is  a secret trsnsmitter that emits a signal that frightens away elephants.

B. But there are no elephants around here.

A. Aha! That’s proof that it works.

Jerry, I have no personal stake in this issue (I don’t care if you have a room with guns in your temples). I’m just annoyed how you are disregarding the rules that make this place a positive forum. You are also being very flippant towards longtime LDS Internet friends of mine (it’ll be 10 years next month that I’ve been on this board, crazy y’all!).

It's called training. Firing a weapon is serious business and I'm sure the armed security guards at the temple take their job seriously. They wouldn't fire until they absolutely had to.

I’ve spent considerable time in tiny temples in Louisville and Memphis. There is no place for security guards and long guns, unless, of course they are under that sealed trap door in the men’s loo.

Lets get back to the CFRs.

At this point you are stupid or trolling. Out of Catholic compassion, I’ll go with the former, otherwise I’d have to call the inquisition on you (calling Friar Gui!)

You either have serious reading comprehension issues, or you are being deliberately obtuse in an effort to avoid responding to a valid CFR. As I previously stated, no one is asking for the specific location of the “gun room” in the temple, we are asking for documentation that it actually exists. You are required by the rules of the board to provide the documentation or retract your claim. If you are telling the truth, you should have no trouble providing documentation.

Agree completely.

These are assertions that cannot be proven OR disproven and the one making these assertions knows that neither is a possibility.

I recall assertions about all the dead babies under the Vatican, and this is as ridiculous.

What have I done that's against the rules? Not supply a map to where a gun room in the temple is? Hones, how would anyone now that, you can't find that information. It's impossible, thankfully,  I'm glad it's  impossible. That means security is doing their job. How am I being  flippant?

For the record. Your friends have insinuated I abuse my children and that I'm a troll. And they keep taking little jabs at me all because of how I view mormonism.

Good gravy! This is really simple. If the church has shooting ranges,  if it has armed guards,  bullet proof cars to protect the prophet, then the guards need somewhere to store their weapons while in the temple. Why don't you prove to me there aren't armed security guards at the temple?

I used to be employed at one of the temples.  I've been around the security guards.  I've been around them at night after all the patrons and volunteer staff have left.

Does the pope have armed security. Is armed security allowed in your holy buildings?
