Yesterday Utah's Governor Cox announced that we were in the midst of yet another drought. When he made the announcement I immediately thought of all of the success that we have experienced first hand with the other church wide fasts to end the pandemic and Australian bush fires and thought, yup, time for another fast. If the church acts quickly, probably at April conference, while it might be too late to salvage the ski season, at least summer boating could be saved and we could have this drought knocked out by the beginning of summer. I pale to wonder what might have happened had the church not stepped in and held our collective church wide fast, can you even imagine the number of deaths and loss of lives had we not? So who's with me? Time to fast. Those who fast and pray tend to find or be part of the solution to problems. 2

At rates like that, the fast may have been intended more to end the 1984-style lockdowns, in which case the fast would have been an organized request or begging of God to restore/install more logic and reason in the public sector. If God's answer was: Don't hold your breath or this won't end until mankind no longer exist on the earth or start a revolution, would we have responded accordingly? Doubt it. This may sound heartless but people died and die at a certain rate each day due to their health statuses (obesity, cancer, heart disease, etc.). I am not sure that rate has increased significantly due to covid. Hospitals received an increase in funding for each Medicare-covered patient they had who died "due to covid." Medicare being the forced health insurance coverage everyone above a certain age is required by law to use, and coincidentally this same older age group includes those who are only 95% likely to recover from covid. Trump's modern medical miracle of fast-tracking three vaccines in record time, notwithstanding the FDA's indifference, is quite an accomplishment. Some may see the vaccines as an answer to the Churchwide fast. I don't because I don't believe this was a real pandemic. If it was real/organic we wouldn't be seeing herd immunity after all of us probably already caught the virus, and we wouldn't see the virus attack certain blood types and groups and demographic populations the way it has. So much false in this statement I don't know where to begin. God permits diseases to ravage mankind. It is part of the process of strengthening the species. We are expected, however, to react with our learning and technology. Not conspiracy theories. 2

I hope we will be able or have the courage to review what went on this last year and rationally discuss everything, including looking at evidence that twitter, facebook, google, etc., deem unworthy. We have had panics before with Zika and other illness that didn't pan out. Perhaps we overreacted here? I think we certainly did. https://www.nytimes.com/2007/01/22/health/22whoop.html 1

How about rationally looking at all the evidence and not automatically discounting contrary evidence as conspiracy theory? Is it possible in your mind that the medical profession could be overly influenced by the pharmaceutical industry? There are $billions to be made when scientists and doctors support a particular drug. Maybe that has an effect on decisions and supposed research? The top percent in terms of wealth made out like bandits during the pandemic. Maybe that deserves to be studied? Is it possible that there was some coordination or is that one of those questions that cannot be asked because let's automatically assume it is crazy conspiracy theory? 1

They received for only procedures they performed, not a flat payment per patient. This increase makes sense due to the additional costs associated with safety procedures, etc. required with Covid. Quote I am not sure that rate has increased significantly due to covid. Ignore causes and simply compare the number of deaths in recent years to the number of deaths in the past year (correcting for increase in population and any other relevant factors) to start. When we get more details on causes, we can remove accidents, suicide and homicide, etc, and just look at medical deaths in the past compared to medical death during the pandemic. Unless you are aware of something else significant medically speaking last year, it would seem likely most of any change was related to Covid. https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/fullarticle/2771761 Quote Between March 1 and August 1, 2020, 1 336 561 deaths occurred in the US, a 20% increase over expected deaths (1 111 031 [95% CI, 1 110 364 to 1 111 697]). ... Of the 225 530 excess deaths, 150 541 (67%) were attributed to COVID-19. Joinpoint analyses revealed an increase in deaths attributed to causes other than COVID-19, with 2 reaching statistical significance. US mortality rates for heart disease increased between weeks ending March 21 and April 11 (APC, 5.1 [95% CI, 0.2-10.2]), driven by the spring surge in COVID-19 cases. Mortality rates for Alzheimer disease/dementia increased twice, between weeks ending March 21 and April 11 (APC, 7.3 [95% CI, 2.9-11.8]) and between weeks ending June 6 and July 25 (APC, 1.5 [95% CI, 0.8-2.3]), the latter coinciding with the summer surge in sunbelt states. Also... Life expectancy dropped a full year for the US, which is rather significant given the total population numbers. https://www.cidrap.umn.edu/news-perspective/2021/02/amid-covid-19-us-life-expectancy-sees-biggest-drop-wwii Quote Life expectancy among American adults dropped by 1 year—the biggest dip since World War II—in the first half of 2020, according to new data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The CDC used the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS), which collects and disseminates the nation's official vital statistics, to show life expectancy estimates based on provisional death counts for January through June, 2020. In the first half of 2020, life expectancy at birth for the total US population was 77.8 years, declining by 1.0 year from 78.8 in 2019. Life expectancy at birth for males was 75.1 years in the first half of 2020, representing a decline of 1.2 years from 76.3 years in 2019. For females, life expectancy declined to 80.5 years, decreasing 0.9 year from 81.4 years in 2019. Black and Hispanic Americans fared worse in these estimates. Life expectancy dropped by 2.7 years for non-Hispanic black people and 1.9 years for Hispanic individuals. "The Hispanic population experienced the second largest decline in life expectancy (79.9) reaching a level lower than what it was in 2006, the first year for which life expectancy estimates by Hispanic origin were produced (80.3)," the report said. And life expectancy could drop further, given that the first half of 2020 only contained about 4 months of the COVID-19 pandemic. Edited March 19, 2021 by Calm 2

Sure, raising questions is not evidence but a place to start and then find the evidence.
