Meldrum Takes it Up a Notch - Revolutionizes Science Itself

Recommended Posts

You'll no doubt remember where you were and what you were doing when you first heard about this revolutionary publication and theory:

The Universal Model

Quote

The Universal Model answers questions regarding Nature which inquiring minds have often wondered. With powerful evidence and new scientific discoveries sure to spark an imminent Scientific Revolution, the UM changes the entire fabric of modern science, replacing its very foundation. Out of this pioneering work comes a New Millennial Science destined to take us through the current millennium to learn about Nature as never before imagined.

For many decades, incorrect theories and misleading philosophies formed the foundation of modern science. False ideas taught as fact clouded minds and stifled the uncovering of Nature’s secrets for generations of scientists. Now, newly discovered scientific truths in the UM have revealed long-hidden natural law. We invite all to explore and experience the adventure of learning truth in the Universal Model.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Universal Model includes the introduction of more natural law and scientific truth in these three volumes than in any other scientific work ever published. Its ultimate purpose is to lift humanity by fostering understanding and promoting the comprehension of Nature. The UM does so by restoring truth and order in science, and by establishing new natural law. We invite every reader to ponder these momentous questions about the Earth’s origins, and to ask why we are such an important part of all the beauty that surrounds us.

Of special interest is how the Universal Model puts Noah's global flood on solid scientific footing:

Quote

Then in Universal Flood Model, one of the UM’s capstone chapters, we explore one of the Earth’s seminal events, an episode that left its indelible mark in countless ways, of which we document thirteen distinctive Marks. This phenomenon affected the whole Earth, shaping and forming the vast majority of its surface. Hands-on experiments demonstrate how a great many of the Earth’s abundant minerals and crystals formed, not from a melt but in a newly discovered water-pressure-thermal environment.

Already endorsed by some of the best and brightest minds in the earth sciences, insurance and law, the Universal Model will no doubt take the scientific world by storm, and if it doesn't, it can only be because of the atheistic closed-mindedness of the cult of modern science.

Swing for the fences, Rodney.  Swing for the fences.

I did some research on this awhile back.  Have they actually put out any details yet or does one have to fork over a ton of cash still to find out what they are claiming not only overturns much of traditional science, but can be proven by experiments anyone can do?  I am wondering if it was all so simple, why wasn't it discovered before multiple times.

I see the one skeptical comment that was posted at that time on the site has disappeared.

add-on:  I was wrong, it is still there as it was on Facebook.

His review:

"I reviewed what I could and was unimpressed by numerous chapters of trying to justify not believing actual science. The UM seems to be nothing more than recycled creationist ideas in a new package."

They (Dean Sessions) appear to be copying ideas already being expressed in standard science discourse -- http://science.sciencemag.org/content/351/6278/1180 .  The latest book expressing UM is part of the Heartland Library, which seems to be part of the sort of quasi-science used by young Earth creationists among the evangelical community.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ke3dzUHWtUk .  I would be very surprised if any real science is involved in UM.

Tuttle who is publishing it last I looked also publishes another author (it is on his website, I am too lazy to look it up as I got this from another discussion I was having on it  few months back or so):

"On January 26th 2016, one of Digital Legends' authors and good friend, Robert "LaVoy" Finicum was shot by police and FBI during a roadside stop outside Burns Oregon. Many of you have seen the footage and have heard the "official" story. The truth is far different that what we have been told, but with the help of freedom loving patriots, we will get to the truth and carry LaVoy's message of freedom and liberty to the world. We were fortunate that LaVoy wrote a book which was published by Digital Legend, under of Legends Library imprint. We are dedicating a substantial portion of the proceeds from each book sold to the benefit of LaVoy's wife and family. The new book has become a best seller and is called: "Only by Blood and Suffering - Regaining Lost Freedom." You can find it on Amazon or our website."

Finicum's book was juvenile Middle School level writing. The characters are caricatures and the rhetoric and conflict simplistic. Think Twilight level wish fulfillment except instead of bad romance you get crazy gun nuts justifying why they should be allowed to kill everyone.

Does that mean this is similar quality material?

I find it interesting that individuals want to use science in their every day lives, but when it contradicts some so called ancient text they wig out. It took major scientific inovation just to create  the computer so this nonsense could be typed out. When you walk into a room and flip on the light that is science. So when people want to deny scientific evidence in geology they might as well say electricity does not exist.

Chauncey Riddle endorsed this nonsense?? He's dead now, I believe, but I always thought he was smarter than that.

I don't know his work, but what he wrote here is not even "philosophy".  Honestly it seems written by someone who never studied philosophy at all it is so bad. Alzheimers?

I'm not sure who you're referring to, but when I started at BYU in 1972 Riddle was a well-respected professor there, in what I can't remember. I suppose he might still be alive--he had a daughter in that same freshman class, and my parents are still above ground. I would think he is, or was, smart enough to not endorse any pseudoscientific claptrap, but I never knew him, so I don't know.

I think I get it now after a tiny bit of research

It seems he did the usual "Mormon thing" with philosophy and downplayed the "philosophies of men" and wrote primarily "words of wisdom for LDS" kinds of articles- which of course is fine and what he chose to do with his life.  He is a renowned teacher and it seems he taught classes on "thinking clearly".  He had a Phd from Columbia for Pete's sake which means he certainly DID know philosophy but to me it appears he never published anything in philosophical journals but a ton of stuff in the LDS context about spiritual matters.  His one article on "philosophy of language" that I could find- not published in a philosophy journal- did not seem to draw on traditional philosophical sources was about the "language of the spirit" for example.

He wrote quite a few articles for the "Encyclopedia of Mormonism" including this one on "philosophy"- http://eom.byu.edu/index.php/Philosophy which kind of tells the tale as far as I can see.  Pretty much the article eschews "the philosophies of men" while oddly denying its central direction in looking at the Bibliography section.  His sources are "real philosophy" but the article kinds of denies the need for LDS people to study it.

He was a well-loved teacher and really that is about the best one can say about anyone in my book.   His job was to impart wisdom to LDS kids and it seems everyone loved him. This one paragraph (from the article linked above) seems to sum up his attitude completely:

Quote

While LDS culture does not encourage philosophizing directly, every LDS person is encouraged to become a profound theologian. Becoming such necessitates a heavy commitment to active study "in theory, in principle, in doctrine" to search out the weighty matters of time and eternity (D&C 97:14), which include the basic questions of the philosophers. The imperative "study it out in your mind" (D&C 9:7-8) is a standard for all LDS persons, not just for academics. "Time, and experience and careful and ponderous and solemn thought" (TPJS, p. 37) are not inimical to but are the preface to and foundation for personal revelation.

So perhaps his endorsement of this odd approach to "science" is taken from his conscious decision to justify what he sees as LDS thought taking precedence over the "philosophies of men"

Of course I admit I do not know what I am talking about and have spent a total of about 15 minutes trying to absorb and summarize the long life of one who is loved and admired by virtually all his students.

So I would take my words with about about 14 million grains of salt.   Make it a few tons for that matter.  Who am I to criticize such a wonderful man??

Hello ______, As you might already know, prior to my work on DNA and the geography of the Book of Mormon, I worked for seven years in the capacity of senior scientific researcher alongside a dear friend, Dean W. Sessions and many other colleagues on what has now become a 2,000 page scientific textbook!

The project has been an incredible journey of over 27 years finding astounding new answers to thousands of previously unanswered questions in the scientific world. This was accomplished using the latest scientific discoveries, peer reviewed journals, years of never before conducted experiments and the expertise of many colleagues in numerous fields working together to bring these new scientific discoveries to light.

Put simply, the project looks back to the foundations and origins of the natural sciences to uncover truths that have remained unknown to mankind for centuries. From my experience this book is unprecedented in the realm of science; it establishes dozens of new scientific laws and hundreds of new discoveries based not on theoretical ideologies, but on empirical, experimental, repeatable and observable science.

Today I am thrilled to announce the wait is over!

The Universal Model (UM) - A New Millennial Science, Volume 1, available in electronic format now from UniversalModel.com, includes new scientific discoveries destined to forever change how we view and understand the Universe, the Earth, and all living things. Volume 1, The Earth System, addresses modern sciences’ theories about Earth-altering processes and introduces an entirely new paradigm about how rocks are made, actual forces that shaped the Earth, and the origin of many of the Earth’s minerals. Volume 2, The Living System, available in 2017, continues that journey by treating subjects such as the age of the Earth and the actual process of how fossils form. Volume 3, The Universe System, slated for release in late 2017, explores the nature of light, energy, and reveals new discoveries about the building blocks of science; mass, length, and time.

These discoveries provide further evidence that ultimately strengthens the Heartland Book of Mormon geography model. Although the book adheres strictly to scientific rigor so that it can be utilized in public and private education curriculum's and the secular scientific community at large, the findings are remarkably consistent with world history as recorded in such ancient texts as the Bible, Koran, Torah and others. It also includes numerous, profound scientific answers to many questions that have plagued and intrigued secular, religious and LDS thinkers alike for decades. For example, the UM demonstrates through a multitude of scientific discoveries that the Great Flood recorded in nearly every ancient text, recorded as Noah's flood in the Old Testament, actually occurred 4,361 years ago. This new evidence alone overturns completely many of today’s scientific theories.

“Reading this book is having one’s imagination stretched at every turn. Every serious reader who has an interest in knowing the truth will be delighted with the challenging ideas found here… I commend this work for all serious thinkers and lovers of truth.”
Chauncey C. Riddle, Professor Emeritus of Philosophy, Brigham Young University

A few fundamental questions answered in the UM:

Why are all planets and moons spheres? What is the structure of Earth's interior? Do all rocks come from magma deep in the earth? Do all craters come from impacts? How did dinosaur bones fossilize? How long does it take to petrify wood? What causes earthquakes? What is the origin of weather? What is the origin of Earth's magnetic field? Where is water found in the Universe? What is earthquake weather?

Questions many LDS members want to know:

Was Noah's flood a real, worldwide event? Where did the water of Noah's flood come from and where did it go? What scientific evidence is there for Noah's flood? How long ago did the dinosaurs live? How do dinosaurs fit with the creation account? What scientific evidence exists for evolution? How is the age of the Earth reconciled with science and scripture?

Do you know someone of your family, friends and neighbors that has had a loss of faith due to perceived inconsistencies between the scriptures and science? As LDS we know that truth is truth in every realm so how could the truths of science not be consistent with the truths of the restored gospel and scripture? Yet we often find them incompatible, and when we do, how do we decide which is wrong; how can we know the truth?

Wouldn't you like to finally have faithful answers to fundamental questions of science that are fully compatible with the scriptures, gospel and prophets?
As my friends and fellow truth seekers, I would like to personally invite you to learn more about this new scientific revolution by watching the introductory UM Video, reading about it on the UniversalModel.com website and especially, if possible, attending one of the introductory presentations coming to Las Vegas, Nevada, Orem and Salt Lake City, Utah areas in the next three weeks!

While we realize most recipients of this email can't come to the events listed below... EVERYONE can begin reading the electronic version of Volume 1 online right NOW - or join us live Dec. 7th and 10th online via Facebook. Printed copies of Vol. 1 will be available April of 2017 at the FIRM Foundation EXPO and those who have purchased the electronic version will be given a special discount on the hard copy."

Quality MLM presentations are quite good and convincing. I attended one I intended to debunk and found the emotion of the room and the presentation quite convincing to the point where I had to step back and remind myself that almost no one in the room would ever make money and that it was based on bad data. A good presentation does not make them right.
