(I doubt that she's speaking in chapels or is being invited by local leaders to speak anymore.) No idea. I haven't followed her very closely (I kind of stumbled on this one); maybe I should up my participation in the prepper-movement world. 1

The Northridge quake was tons of fun. Buildings and freeways falling. Hospitals destroyed. I slept in a tent a day or two. And that was not even a big one. Good luck. If you are not prepared, you are not prepared. I don't even know who this person is, but earthquake preparedness is no joke. Edited April 22, 2016 by mfbukowski 3

Earthquakes, Hurricanes, and Blizzards are three things I give exactly no thought to. 2 - I'm not suggesting "earthquake preparedness" is a joke. I'm suggesting Julie Rowe is a joke. Follow?

Maybe you should give some thought to earthquakes. SEE http://earthquaketrack.com/us-az-phoenix/recent 2. No disagreement there.

Calm Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 Iirc, a few of her venues were scheduled at churchs got canceled, one completely but others were able to find rental sites so I suspect she, like Meldrum, got told she was not allowed to use church buildings. She claims she doesn't get paid for speaking, but she could be making money off of references from her site plus her books (topsellers in LDS market, sigh) Her publisher is also heavy into the prepping stuff, runs the main lds related prepper site iirc. I think she is sincere, somewhat deluded and probably inflates her stuff and then maybe convinces herself the story she tells about it is the original one (she has public posts that say she never read others' accounts while previously mentioning other books, iirc, for example) but also really likes the positive attention while reacting badly to criticism and refuses to take responsibility by diminishing her influence on those who lost money, etc. on her past predictions.

ttribe Posted April 22, 2016 Author Posted April 22, 2016 And today she appeals to the words of Spencer W. Kimball to bolster her credibility - http://julieroweprepare.com/when-disaster-strikes-the-time-to-prepare-has-passed/ “Preparedness, when properly pursued, is a way of life, not a sudden, spectacular program.” “…[We must be] anxiously engaged in a positive program of preparation. It is not enough to hope for the best; we must prepare for it.” -Spencer W. Kimball 1

If she's active in her local Ward and Stake, I'm quite surprised we haven't heard about her leaders stepping in to put the brakes on this nonsense. ...so a church court is held for Jeremy but Julie gets a pass? She's not preaching against the church and she still sustains the prophet and apostles so, at least for now (not saying that will change but you never know) so that's probably why she hasn't been charged with apostasy. 1

I predict that it will rain soon in Washington State. Perhaps tonight, perhaps tomorrow, perhaps next week. Or all the above. Who knows? Nevertheless, it will rain. EVERY year the big one is warned about in Utah. Not that I am against it - I think there are good reasons. It's just that the big one is predicted to happen soon every year and has been for at least the last 3 decades. So she can feel somewhat safe with that prediction. Edited April 23, 2016 by Rain 1
