That's like four questions in a single post. I thought you didn't like ask lots of questions?  To answer your huge number of questions in order...I don't know, no, not likely and no because spongebob is an animated cartoon character.

What is the evidence that it is (a health-crisis in Utah)? - Numerous scientific studies showing it to be addictive.
Is pornography our biggest threat? - All threats should be acknowledged and worked against.  Biggest vs smallest doesn't mean we ignore them.
Will it destroy humanity as we know it?  - It will hinder progression, repentance, sanctification, and offend God.
If pornography is like an infectious disease, does that mean that spongebob is like infected?  He's a cartoon.

I thing Skeptic has raised an issue here that should be of a concern to all of us.  And while pornography is not the sole means that Satan is using to destroy us, it is one of the main ones he is using at this time.  Satan is much to subtle to just use one.

And while Skeptics use of Sponge Bob has elicited comments about his be not only fictional, but animated as well, I think we can all put ourselves in the place of this fictional, animated character.  Anyone who has ever been exposed to pornography, in any way, is to some degree "infected."  It cannot be un-seen.  The effects of pornography in today's society are pervasive.  Music, television, film. All have been "infected" as Skeptic terms it.  The only cure for the disease if the gospel of Jesus Christ and his atonement.

Pornography addiction actually changes the physical and chemical makeup of the brain in a way similar to traumatic brain injury - Donald Hilton Jr. M.D. and neurosurgeon. 

Eric Nestler, Director of the Brain Institute and Chairman of Neuroscience at Mount Sinai School of Medicine published his findings that sexual addictions (pornography) affect the same neurochemial pathways in the same ways as drug addictions. 

Dr. Hilton shows studies of how pornography addiction actually causes more extensive brain atrophy (shrinkage) than drug addictions.  "Withdrawl symptoms can be headache, irritability, restlessness, sleeplessness, anxiety... These classic symptoms of withdrawal can be relentless and can lead to addicted persons to relapse, with the brain drug fix bringing reliable relief.  The despair and depression which follow, however, mean the relief is a temporary respite until the next episode.  With each episode, the neurochemistry of addiction is engrained even more deeply."

He goes on to state that because pornography is a much more powerful stimulant than natural sexuality in the sensitized brain, addicted husbands often prefer pornographic stimulation to marital sexuality.

People who have been addicted to both drugs and sexual addictions claim that the pornography is harder to overcome by far.

One thing to note is that we are only now seeing the first generation almost universally raised on mobile devices with high speed connections. When I was in High School downloading a one minute blocky preview for a movie or game could take hours. If you wanted porn you had to wait. Easier then the dirty magazines of earlier generations but still a pain. 

Now we are seeing people in essence consuming dozens of sex partners in minutes. Studies of porn use show the incredibly short attentions spans and the constant switching for new amusements. The addiction is of a different caliber now when it manifests and I still maintain it will be an actual secular health crisis very soon.

When a 6 yr old gets shown porn on the phone of another 6 year old at recess, that may indeed be a symptom of a pervasive problem.

(Happened to my friend's kid last September. )

Speaking of fatal,  when we lived in Provo, there was a man arrested after confessing to trying to poison his wife to death after she discovered his porn habit. She lived, though.

The church invented a disease and now it wants to sell you the cure.  For the record there is no such thing as a pornography addiction recognized by the APA - The American Psychology Association.

 

For the record I'm not a fan of the Porn industry nor their product they spew...for many reasons, it victimizes women, transports sex to unrealistic expectations and diminishes desire for authentic sexual relationships...but the church uses it to guilt and manipulate its members...which in my opinion is just as evil

No but they are studying whether or not to recognize it as such.

While not everyone who looks at porn is or ever will be an addict, there are plenty who are. The church did not invent the disease to the thousands of men across the world who are irreligious and are stepping up to admit that they are addicted.

Perhaps, but the Brethren have a sacred responsibility to cry repentance. That includes repenting of a porn addiction, problem, habit, etc.

So you would argue that the APA is infallible? For example that homosexuality stopped being a mental illness a few years back but definitely was before?

Doubt it. I do not seek out porn because apostles tell me not to in non-explicit terms. I would actually worry about what twisted fetishes would make such a person do that.

We had a similar argument before, people have more fun when they do something they know is not right. It is psychological. 

Question, do you know an Atheist that is addicted to porn? 

People like to misbehave, anti-porn words can make it more attractive.

Addiction is always a problem, I was not asking about addiction, it is obvious. 

However,  I wonder if anti-porn words make it more addictive and more attractive?
