What makes Heavenly Mother a deity?

She isn't prayed to, she isn't worshiped, and she's not really talked about. What makes her a deity? Does she have the same powers and glory as Heavenly Father?

Men are grubby.  They do mechanical works, such as putting together fragments of dead planets to organize a new earth.  And warring with depraved sinners visiting death and destruction on the wicked, etc.

Women are elegant and nourishing.  They care for the intelligences that became spirit children of diety.  I am sure the ladies are performing high level duties of an unrevealed nature in the Celestial Realms.  That would be glorious to behold and cause our hearts to palpitate with love and gratitude.

That would be great to hear, but what do women have to look forward to in regards to exaltation?

Only in fantasy settings does worship make a god. In any case she and the Father are one so I expect all our prayers and worship is heard by both our parents and answered through their Son.

The answer to your question is found in Doctrine and Covenants 132. Take particular note that what is declared in the following two verses applies equally to both exalted men and women:

19 And again, verily I say unto you, if a man marry a wife by my word, which is my law, and by the new and everlasting covenant, and it is sealed unto them by the Holy Spirit of promise, by him who is anointed, unto whom I have appointed this power and the keys of this priesthood; and it shall be said unto THEM (both the man and the woman)—Ye shall come forth in the first resurrection; and if it be after the first resurrection, in the next resurrection; and shall inherit thrones, kingdoms, principalities, and powers, dominions, ALL HEIGHTS and DEPTHS—then shall it be written in the Lamb’s Book of Life, that he shall commit no murderwhereby to shed innocent blood, and if ye abide in my covenant, and commit no murder whereby to shed innocent blood, it shall be done unto them in all things whatsoever my servant hath put upon them, in time, and through all eternity; and shall be of full force when they are out of the world; and they shall pass by the angels, and the gods, which are set there, to their exaltation and glory in all things, as hath been sealed upon their heads, which glory shall be a fulness and a continuation of the seeds forever and ever.

 20 Then shall they be gods, because they have no end; therefore shall they be from everlasting to everlasting, because they continue; then shall they be ABOVE ALL, because ALL THINGS are subject unto them. Then shall they be gods, because they have ALL POWER, and the angels are subject unto them. (D&C 132)

You obviously have not seen me hike. I spent my Saturday afternoon rolling in the snow and sliding down snow banks to get a better picture. Not a mechanical person, but I personally always view earth as a glorious art piece. And I love to paint...often the paint is all over me as well. I figure my pre-earth self was painting the sky and the tiny flowers you have to look closely at to see their beauty

I'm so envious of people like you, I'm a wanna be in the arts or crafts arena!  My forte is cleaning bathrooms super duper well, or possibly painting walls in my house, or mowing a lawn or weeding the garden.  So I too get filthy, but would much rather do it by being on the creative side, lol.

Only art (mostly painting at this point)...there's not much craft in me. Unless you include gardening and cooking (but not baking). I'm not good with any craft stuff because I stink at following directions and rules ;).

I can't draw stick people..not crafty at all..but I love snow fun!!

I do all of the home maintenance repairs in my house and I am gifted the tools to do them. It's not dainty, pretty or elegant or artsy. I wouldn't use any of those adjectives to describe me or my work. Does that mean I'm out of the running for a female deity?

I understand the whole thing is less burdensome when you can command the elements and make things fix themselves.

Heavenly mother is a deity because she married the right guy . . . in the right place . . . at the right time.

Before my health got poor, my husband gave me power tools instead of flowers and candy at my request.

One of my majors at school was EE (though I got all As in the classes, it wasn't interesting enough for me, should have stuck in Physics but my dad pushed me to EE to ensure I would get a job...sigh).

Reminds me of last summer. My husband had placed the compost bin in a bad location and it had become a best for thousands of fly larvae. Literally, one day I went to dump food scraps and a banana peel appeared to be moving itself under the swirling tiny bodies. I got gloves, wheel narrow, and shovel and moved it all to way; waaaaaaaaay out back.

Actually, Heavenly Father is a deity because he has a posterity to preside over.  Something he wouldn't have if he hadn't married the right woman/women.
Even Christ would have no inheritance from the Father were it not for Heavenly Mother.  In this case you could say Christ inherits everything both the Father AND the Mother have - their posterity.

At least you caught them while they were maggots. On my mission we didn't catch it and they turned into flies. We came home to the sound of about 40-50 flies, mostly (strangely) on a window. I got the glorious task to spray them to kingdom come. It was like Lord of the Flies without the pig.

To the OP. She is deity, because we say She is, and that's enough for me :P. But more seriously. I believe she has the same powers and glory as the Father (maybe manifested in differing ways, but I'm guessing on that one)

She isn't prayed to, but I pray about Her and ask Father about Her plenty. I've told Him I need my Mother at times and a very strong spirit has often been the response I receive. I knew one woman who would thank Heavenly Father for Heavenly Mother in each prayer she made in church.

She's not worshiped as much. There's still a song or two in the hymns mentioning Her....and song is a  both a form of prayer and worship. Personally I worshiped her just recently through a painting and I worship Her through pondering her existence and reading whatever I can find about her... and in someways I feel my temple work is also part of that worship (if not in literal word then in the promises and spirit I often feel there). Holland testified of Her in conference and testifying of Her divinity IMO is a form of worship. There's evidence that She may have been more worshiped in previous eras and I hope that one day her worship and our knowledge of her will expand as well....after all, we're still in the era of restoration. 

She's not really talked about, but that talk is increasing. And I hope the more we do so, the more we'll find Her and the more we'll realize She is just as active and present and necessary in our daily mortal existence as HF is.
