An Open Letter To Sister Kate Kelly

Dear Sister Kelly,

You recently, and reluctantly, asked your thousands of sycophants to give you money to buy an 11" MacBook Air. A much more affordable Windows laptop, or even a Chromebook simply would not do!  You are a high-flying human rights lawyer and you can only work with the best.

I should also point out that you recently referred to LDS Church leaders as "counterfeit Christians."

Anyway, I've got a few questions.

1.  Do you have a credit card?

2.  Who paid for your recent trip to Manhattan?

3.  Will you provide full financial disclosure of your MacBook purchase?  You have made yourself a public charity and so I think it is only fair to request a little transparecy

I wonder if you are a counterfeit Feminist who uses her fame not only to boost your ego, but also your pocketbook.

I'm very happy that you are now free to be your "authentic self."  There is now no question as to what your true colors really are.

Correction...she is a human rights lawyer And over in Kenya not because of her work, but because her husband is pursuing grad work....correction...she has a job there as well....and one that looks like it may be a good salary.

(source...my less than stellar memory)

Iirc she claimed she had enough money to replace a laptop that was losing it but had to spend it on an emergency flight home (father's health issue iirc).

Remove wrong speculation

The flight to New York looked like she was getting interviewed for a documentary, i would assume the documentary people paid for it. If Kate did because it was the only way they would put her in the docu, that would be major taking advantage of friends. She should have asked for enough to cover the laptop and done the interview long distance. Or ask some of her friends if they wereabout to upgrade and if she could have a handmedown. Then her friends could have contributed to getting some of Kate's neighbours clean food and water with that $1500 or so.

If she uses it for her human right work and not activism against the church, her donations will be much more likely to ave positive impact on others who need help.

Seriously, an open letter to Sister Kelly about her fundme campaign? I give a 0.01% chance that she responds. I would have said 0.0%, but now she has a laptop, so who knows.

Wow.  Hey, I don't agree with what Kate Kelly did here by asking for donations to buy a new computer, but at least she was honest about it.  I have to give her that.  She could have said it was for humanitarian aid, etc.  I think her asking for money is embarrassing, but she had every right to ask for help and those who donated had every right to support her and send $.

But it is odd.  Odd that she asked and even more odd that people donated and bought her a new computer.

this is just embarrassing. No one cares about Kate kelly or ordain women. You just sound like an angry zealot who spends their time protesting Harry Potter movies. Edited by SmileyMcGee

Maybe she was creating a thought experiment.  Comparing it to the church asking us to tithe for such things as ad campaigns, malls, condo and apartment buildings, hunting trips, radio and newspaper stations...........

You'd have to first show that our tithes go to such things before your accusation is comparable.

Then you'd have to show that being asked for money to buy a personal computer is similar to being asked for money to support the organization you personally are a part of and benefit from.
