Popular Post halconero Posted March 12, 2014 Popular Post Posted March 12, 2014 I'd just like to thank Calmoriah for her contribution to my "Excellent" reputation count. I'm pretty sure that 700 of those come solely from her. Whenever I see a green little "1" at the corner of a post I know that I can count on it coming from her. Thank you, Calmoriah, for boosting my ego. That is all. 5
Calm Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 You deserve it. I always look forward to your posts.
Kenngo1969 Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Cal?!!! I thought it was your mission in life to follow me around the Board and boost my ego by giving me rep points! I thought our relationship was sacred ... and now I hear you've been stepping out on me?!! 3

What can I say? ) P.S.: And while we're on the subject of Come, Thou Fount, I figure I might as well post a link to the most stirring rendition of that hymn in existence. (Hat-tip to BCSpace, who posted it in his sig line first.) P.P.S.: Sorry for the derail. Where were we? Oh, yes: All Hail Cal! Edited March 12, 2014 by Kenngo1969 3
BCSpace Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Alas! I have no following of sycophants and must work very hard to earn every rep point. 3
halconero Posted March 12, 2014 Author Posted March 12, 2014 I can be your sycophant, BCSpace!! Also, is there anywhere to cash in rep points for prizes? 2
Kenngo1969 Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Alas! I have no following of sycophants and must work very hard to earn every rep point. I've always wanted to be a sycophant! Can I? Please, please, please?!!! 2
Kenngo1969 Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 I can be your sycophant, BCSpace!! Also, is there anywhere to cash in rep points for prizes? That's a great idea! We need to start an MD&DB Rewards Program ! We can have rewards for the most highly-rated post of the day, the week, the month, and the year, respectively, and we can make rep points like rewards points! Halconero and I are on board (pun intended?)! Who's with us? Anybody want to volunteer to be our spokesperson and approach the Mods with the idea?
Calm Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 I can be your sycophant, BCSpace!! Also, is there anywhere to cash in rep points for prizes? That was the exact question my husband asked me last Saturday on our date...when was I going to redeem them all. He thinks there should be some sort of travel package. 2
strappinglad Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 There are several of us on this forum that appreciate cal and her support of our sometimes odd posts. I propose that the mods make it possible to donate our surplus rep points to cal so that she can collect the 10,000 needed to be translated to the higher realms. The title of Obi Juana awaits her ! 1

I thought our relationship was sacred ... and now I hear you've been stepping out on me?!! He gives me a lot of rep points too. Are they limited per person? I think I have only given maybe a dozen total. I treat mine like kisses. It means I really love the post. Am I doing it wrong? 1

Whenever I see a green little "1" at the corner of a post I know that I can count on it coming from her. Thank you, Calmoriah, for boosting my ego. That is all. It's interesting who gives rep points to whom. Whenever I see a green little 1 in one of my posts I can usually guess who it came from. And I too am grateful to those who have bestowed such a happy rating on my reputation. It is entertaining to watch when two sides of a debate on a thread become a "mutual admiration society" adding points agressively to those posts that agree with their POV. (Sadly, there are also those who you never receive a rep point from since your POV is too far from theirs). Maybe we should all promise to give at least 1 rep point to an opinion we disagree with if it was presented well... 1

BCSpace Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 I can be your sycophant, BCSpace!! Go to then, and find all my posts one by one and two by two, and give a rep point to each one that I may lay up in store and have meat in mine house.

Halconero and I are on board (pun intended?)! Who's with us? Anybody want to volunteer to be our spokesperson and approach the Mods with the idea? What about using rep points to offset mod discipline? Sort of a “Get out of jail free card.” I suggest 100 rep points to offset a thread banning, 500 to redeem you from “Limited status” and 1000 to overcome a complete banning.
Stargazer Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 (edited) Wait a minute! How can you tell who has given you rep points? I thought they were anonymous? Nevermind, I just figured it out. Click on the green number thingy. Learn something new every day. Edited March 15, 2014 by Stargazer
Calm Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 Your can also go into your profile and look at the reputation section and see who you've given points to and which posts have gotten you points.
Calm Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 (edited) Learn something new every day.Did you know that grey squirrels (as opposed to red who hoard and thus do not contribute to forest growth) not only use their nose to find their buried nuts, but remember locations? Not all that well (they apparently only recover about a quarter of the nuts they bury), but perhaps for Gray squirrels a bad memory is evolutionary advantageous in that less nuts found mean overall more food trees and more food sources and thus more nuts to gather, bury, find and eat.I wonder if anyone has done the math on the optimal percentage of nuts to forget.See morality thread if you are wondering where in the this post came from...
