My teenage old son has been chronically ill for about 18 months now, first with Mono, then with Celiac Disease, and recently with possibly something else (perhaps Crohn's Disease - we are still working with the doctors to sort this out). He has missed the last month or so of school, and it has become very difficult for him, and also for my wife, who watches over him every day as he struggles with significant discomfort and pain. I work two jobs, which means that I often leave home early and arrive home late. I have struggled with this situation in a different way, that being that I am absent from my family more than I would like.This morning, my wife felt discouraged. Even though she has and does believe that Heavenly Father is watching over us, this morning she prayed that He send her some signal that He is there. This afternoon, the missionaries knocked on our door and asked if there was anything they could do to help. My wife invited them in and asked that they give my son a blessing. They did so. According to my wife, the Spirit was strong and clear during their visit and after.We live in Provo, so this missionary companionship's assigned area covers, if I recall correctly, ten stakes. We have lived in our home for over seven years, and today was the first time the missionaries have ever knocked on our door.A simple prayer. A simple answer. I suppose this could be dismissed as a coincidence, or wishful thinking, or what have you. But for me and my house ...Thanks,-Smac 13

But for me and my house ...Thanks,-SmacWow Smac, you're lucky to have such a faithful wife, sounds like she got her answer. My husband got really ill with something similar to your son. The doctors finally just took his gallbladder but he still suffers with pain on occasion. They cant figure it out, my husbands brothers gave him a blessing. I often wonder if it's anxiety driven. But he is now using homeopathic methods, and taking enzymes, which is pretty important to take without a gallbladder. He does get Percocet now and again for pain. He said he'd rather die than live with the pain, so percocet is the better option. Thanks for sharing your story, I'm hoping all goes well with your son.

But for me and my house ...I guess that depends if you consider the missionaries showing up at your door an answer to prayers! I'm just kidding of course. I'm glad they were able to bless him. Our son recently suffered from a mystery illness that took him down for nearly two weeks. He has recovered but we still don't know what it was. There's nothing that grieves us more that to see our kids suffer. So, it is my simple prayer and hope that your boy finds recovery soon!

If you determine you are interested, I maintain a culture of kefir grains and as we live in proximity, I'm sure we can get some to you. It will not interfere with the medical choices you make, other than in many cases to make them unnecessary. Kefir from the store is not the same as self-cultured kefir from live grains. 1

He's so young to have this happen right when he's entering this most significant stage in life! I'm terrible with prayer, but will do my best to pray for him. 1

Questing Beast Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 (edited) Ask, and you shall receive health tips advice in a growing avalanche of offerings.My wife has been vegan for over two years now, spends a lot more money on "organic" foods, spends a lot more time in the kitchen both preparing and eating, and I see no signs of averting the aching muscles, ligaments and etc. that prompted this drastic lifestyle change. Our bodies are weird and mysterious.My prayer for everyone is that pain be banished to a livable level and quality of life restored to those lacking it and that we enter the paradisiacal world through our cooperative efforts to make this planet whole and cleansed, Amen....
