The best part of the year is when Aunt AGONY goes home!!!! apparently the Queen of the Universe lives in Saskatoon and we are her servants....

In the long-distance absence of family, talking to many of them on the phone was a pleasure. And the company of friends this holiday season has been wonderful! Four Christmas get-togethers with fellow Church members (one of them still to come!), and one with some new, non-LDS friends. "Party until you drop" seems to be the name of the game this year!

Ray...I don't own any of those! I'm too young and haven't started a family...yet.

Then the best is yet to come for you.

Then the best is yet to come for you.

I look forward to it. Aside from education, namely a PhD, and being able to skydive on my own...family is right up there. Gotta find the right guy who's willing to shack up with me. I'm pretty stubborn.

One of my favorites was the jewelry box my 4-year-old daughter picked out for me. Before my husband took her shopping, she already knew that's what she wanted to get (I didn't ask for one), she did a good job keeping it a secret, and she was very excited to give it to me. Then my son bought me a necklace and matching earrings. :D

my bro in law won a flat screen TV so he gave his "old" one ! that's cool! I hope our coffee can and duct tape entertainment system can hold it up!

My new gun. Of course, I bought it several days before Christmas just for me. I have been waiting on a certain gun to come in for some time and my local dealer called saying he had a similar one that just came in. He followed up with the fact that with everyone is going nuts, it could be quite awhile for my 1st selection to arrive. He gave me a great price of which I could already sell it for a nice profit; but, I'll keep it hidden if Feinstein gets her way ;)

This was a pretty different kind of Christmas. I am the biggest baby ever. Ask my wife. I bump my shoulder against the corner of a wall and I let out yelps without waiting to see if I am hurt. Its really a pretty distasteful habit in a man and I'm working on it. So this year though I had something a little more respectable to yelp about. I will remember it always as my "Catheter Christmas". I don't mean to make it sound like I was all suffering and agony. I had pain meds and anxiety meds and slept a lot. I know many people and probably some here that maybe live that way all the time. But I'd never had one before and I must say to anonymous ones who don't complain about it---My hat's off to you. You are my heroes.

One great present was when seminary boy (pictured in avatar next to the old man) came home late Wednesday. Ol' Dad hobbles gingerly out to the porch carrying my tube and bag. I'd usually be there to help him carry his stuff. I knew his mother would have told him of my condition. So right when we get inside, he turns to me, loaded down on both shoulders and gives me a hug and as he turns, this 25 lb bag of books hits me right in the...catheter! Of course habit took precedence over actual pain, and I yelped. I quickly realized I was going to be okay. But not before my wife. "Are you sure it hurt that bad?", she asked. Don't dare think bad of my good and dearest wife. She knows what's good for me and she did things for me during this time that I will always love her for forever. That's another great present.

It was kidney stone complications. Some kind of spasm thing. I guess you can keep the same catheter for up to 30 days. Anyway, mine was only from Saturday night before Christmas until just yesterday when it came out. I still need surgery on Monday, three stones all on the same side, prayers appreciated. There is this scene in one of the Godfather movies I've always liked, now more than ever. Hyman Roth was one of the aging and richest of the first generation mobsters and was still very active trying to make deals with the post-war generation. He didn't give away money. But he gave a pretty good insight on our frail condition when he confessed, looking for a little sympathy to somebody, that he'd give $2 million (?) if he could just go number one without any pain. I've been the happiest guy all day because that's exactly what I've been doing. I wouldn't trade it for $2 million either. Great present number three.

I hesitate to press send because it almost seems like one of those tmi moments. Too Much Information. My apologies if it seems to anybody I've crossed a boundary. But I truly want to praise the good God of us all because of the way this little trial made me to some extent pray through doubts and anxiety with a little bit of faith recalling Jesus wanted me to cast my cares upon Him. What a wonderful grace to have remembered God's love at such a time. God help me to remember again next time. And now I'm okay today. Today. No guarantee for tomorrow. But this was a beautiful Christmas.

My husband has suffered 3 long years with stomach pain. He had his GB taken out but it hasn't helped. He is taking mega herbs that have helped. I'm afraid I seemed unsympathetic at times. It was really difficult to see my once healthy strong , never sits down, husband just lay there. It's like my mind couldn't accept that he was in pain. So I relate to your wife. I'm glad you're doing much better.

I tried to get into coffee as a non-Mormon. It turned my stomach into knots. I'm such a non-Mormon Mormon. Heaven help me...

Freshly brewed coffee smells so good! Good thing it tastes terrible. I could not understand my mom -- she loved her coffee black and at tongue-cooking temperature.

I think it was the taste and what it did to my stomach...no good.

1. Having a break...period. My brain went on major lockdown for days. It's only barely waking up from it's self-induced coma

2. A really nice camara from my parents

3. seeing my one bro after a year

4. seeing many of my other bro's. Especially the youngest who are like me and their main language of love is physical....which mean lots and lots of hugs. My one bro was so excited he kept asking if they could leave the football state championships early to see me (this is texas...that's practically blasphemy). And when they finally did come he gave me a 2 minute hug, non-stop, arms wrapped tightly around my waist. I love my bros

5. Having time to read silly YA fiction novels. They're one of my many guilty pleasures in life. I don't want adult fiction because the story is bogged down in details. I just want a good story to keep me entertained.

6. getting a few answers to my guy issues....not in full but enough to be satisfied for now.

7. hanging out with my best friend and her kids.

With luv,

BD

My son who is stationed many states away from us and who could not come home this year took over snow plowing duty and office duty for other soldiers who had wives and children so they could spend Christmas with them. He called and said he felt the Spirit of Christmas and the love of Jesus as he took over those unpleasant and boring duties voluntarily.

This was the greatest present I received this year.
