I haven't read any of the posts that have occurred since I left. I will get to them in a moment.First this: After thinking about it as I drove to and from a somewhat distant errand, it occurred to me that this unique and distinctly Mormon species of urban folklore that acts upon our anticipation of "something big" is not altogether, if at all, a bad thing. It arises from an abiding faith that the oracles of God are among us. To the extent one has this faith, he or she is always in a state of patient waiting for the mind and will of God to be revealed. Without exception, I have found when participating in General Conference, it is. I'm quite confident, therefore, that indeed "something big" will occur tomorrow in the Saturday Session of the 182nd Semi-annual Session of the General Conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I bet it will even be more important than riding four-wheelers in the mountains. 3

This is a faith-promoting rumor.I think that is exactly what it is, in a way.Of course, some of those rumors are likely true. And the restored Church was built upon the premise that "something big" would be both along and at the end of its journey. People have different perspectives, I suppose, on what constitutes "something big." There is that saying about small things and whatnot. 1

Tacenda Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 Previous to the second-hand story of the indecisive would-be missionary, I was told that Elder Nelson, in a meeting of stake presidents, stated that President Monson has received revelation on a matter of great importance for the entire Church, and that this revelation would be announced in General Conference. I have no reason to believe it has anything specifically to do with missionary work. But I have now heard three separate reports that something extraordinary will be announced tomorrow.I posted an OP a short while back about this same thing and people definitely on the board did treat me like I was "up in the night". But someone of note like Will says it and it's not so funny after all. Thanks Will for posting:)

Missionaries will be given unlimited texting minutes and privileges.2. You can now choose where you will serve and for how long.3. Sister missionaries will be allowed an extra earring.4. Casual Friday will be in effect.5. CTR tattoos will be permitted.6. You will be allowed to pick your companion.7. P day will be twice a week and all major holidays.8. Missionaries on bicycles will now be issued Mopeds.9. Zone conferences will include catered meals.10. White shirts are optional. I know what it is: Facial hair!
