Cobalt-70 Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 At any rate, I just got off the phone with a close friend who is in a position to know a bit more about such things than the average joe. All I will say is that I encourage all to participate in general conference tomorrow. I am confident that you will be glad you did.Awesome! (Please, Heavenly Mother, don't let it be canonization of the Family Proclamation!) 3

swfarnsworth Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 Awesome! (Please, Heavenly Mother, don't let it be canonization of the Family Proclamation!)Why would that be an issue?

Deborah Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 They will be building the Independence Missouri Temple and gathering all the missionaries home.
Bill “Papa” Lee Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 They will be building the Independence Missouri Temple and gathering all the missionaries home.Mine will be upset he is done in 3 months.
Bart Burk Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 I haven't seen any speculation here which would cause a 19 year old to want to go on a mission ... 1
Duncan Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 (edited) I hope they build a Temple in Independence, one of my favourite mission companions is from there and he said I always have a bed, plus I haven't heard from him for years now. Edited October 6, 2012 by Duncan
Cobalt-70 Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 Why would that be an issue?Because I think it would be a mistake to codify 1950's-era American gender roles in a world-wide 21st century church.
Bill “Papa” Lee Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 Because I think it would be a mistake to codify 1950's-era American gender roles in a world-wide 21st century church.I disagree...or are they continue changing every few years? "Gender" is what it is, it will never change. The big change is that I "PA PA" will be taking over FAIR.
swfarnsworth Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 (edited) Because I think it would be a mistake to codify 1950's-era American gender roles in a world-wide 21st century church. If God wanted to do just that, and the spirit were to confirm to you that that might be what needs to be done, would you change your mind? Cobalt-70 Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 If God wanted to do just that, and the spirit were to confirm to you that that might be what needs to be done, would you change your mind?I would go to Heavenly Mother, and ask her what she thought.
