Something "Big" Coming Down Tomorrow?

Recommended Posts

I've resisted saying anything up until now, lest I be labeled as a wanton "rumor-monger." But I've finally decided to say something in order to alert people to the importance of participating in the upcoming General Conference of the Church. I realize that many people skip the Saturday Sessions for one reason or another. You don't want to do that tomorrow. I do not know the reasons why. I simply have very good reason to believe that something "big" is coming down tomorrow, and that it will be sufficiently "big" to warrant staying home from your planned trip to the lake, or to go 4-wheeling on the mountain, or whatever else you might have planned tomorrow. Or, if you just can't stay home, then be sure to tune in via radio or internet.

I have heard several rumors and reports that have led me to conclude that something of extraordinary significance is to occur tomorrow, but I will only offer one second-hand anecdote as an illustration of the fact that something of great importance is coming down tomorrow:

A friend and his son attended the recent dedication of the Brigham City Temple. The son is 19-years-old and is struggling with the decision to go on a mission or not. Hoping that something encouraging might be said to the son, the father introduced him to a general authority in attendance at the dedication (I will not name the GA). The son informed the GA that he was struggling with his decision to serve a mission. The GA simply told the son to be sure to watch or attend conference Saturday, and then assured him that afterwards his reluctance and indecision would disappear.

So, take this for what it's worth. Even if I'm completely "up in the night" on this, you will surely profit from having participated in conference tomorrow.

All that means is that the General Authority is promising the son he would feel the Spirit and want to go on a mission.

No, that is not what it means.

It means something more.

Much more.

But again, since I don't know exactly what is happening, all I will do is encourage people to pay attention. Those of the household of faith will be very glad they did.

I am trying to imagine what sort of announcement (?) might induce an undecided 19 year old to go on a mission. Here are some possibilities.

1. Missionaries will be given unlimited texting minutes and privileges.

2. You can now choose where you will serve and for how long.

3. Sister missionaries will be allowed an extra earring.

4. Casual Friday will be in effect.

5. CTR tattoos will be permitted.

6. You will be allowed to pick your companion.

7. P day will be twice a week and all major holidays.

8. Missionaries on bicycles will now be issued Mopeds.

9. Zone conferences will include catered meals.

10. White shirts are optional.

:acute:

The one world bank will fund all LDS missions in exchange for distribution of pamphlets by the missionaries encouraging subcutaneous RF implants..

I have to go to work tomorrow and it will be very difficult to ask for it off on such late notice. But I'm sure I'll be able to listen in on my headphones or something, at least part of the time.

maybe they are overhauling the missionary service, as in new clothing instead of white shirts, ties etc. or reducing the time or something

Thanks for passing this along. I wonder if this has anything to do with Pres. Monson's hastily-scheduled, week-long tour of Germany planned for just after Conference.

I too sensed something big coming... I normally work Saturdays and have not watched Saturday sessions live for about 13 years. I felt an impression to ask for it off tomorrow about 3 weeks ago.... family has planned to make it a big deal for a few weeks now.

.......hmmmmmm we shall see!!!

How do explain that a statement to a particular individual about a personal difficulty is much more than a personal assurance to that specific person?.

Previous to the second-hand story of the indecisive would-be missionary, I was told that Elder Nelson, in a meeting of stake presidents, stated that President Monson has received revelation on a matter of great importance for the entire Church, and that this revelation would be announced in General Conference. I have no reason to believe it has anything specifically to do with missionary work. But I have now heard three separate reports that something extraordinary will be announced tomorrow.

So you don't won't to be a rumor monger , but you create post to monger a rumor.

It is only a rumor. But this is now three separate reports I have received. It is possible there is nothing to it. But I am now persuaded that something significant is afoot. I will shortly make a phone call to someone who I believe is in a position to confirm these rumors. If so, I will come back and add to what I have said already ...

Why not just wait till tomorrow for an official report?

Yes, it is a rumor/gossip. I recall the most immediate former Prophet speaking against gossip.

Or that they're calling all the missionaries home!!

That would dispell some indecision.

because I can't wait now! If I know something's coming down the pipe then it makes it easier to get through today

This isn't gossip. Gossip is a rumor that damages a person's reputation. This is a faith-promoting rumor.

Then just tell yourself there's nothing coming down the pipe. You can't be dissappointed then.

Please do! I have to help someone move in tonite and it's cold outside and ice rainy and wet so I will have the warmth of all of this to keep me going!

What? Coblat and myself agree on something., This is indeed huge. But wait. It is not Saturday today. Only Friday. Drat. This is not what Will was thinking I am sure. Bummer.

Give me a break! Gossip? You are finding fault where none is to be found.

At any rate, I just got off the phone with a close friend who is in a position to know a bit more about such things than the average joe. All I will say is that I encourage all to participate in general conference tomorrow. I am confident that you will be glad you did.
