EDIT TO ADD...   Well, it's not quite as bad as it sounded... I googled "Miracle on the Hudson" and the website came up that described the whole process, quoting the NTSB report of the investigation and findings.  You are quite correct that the movie overstated considerably the accusatory aspect... the rest of the report confirmed the general portrayal of the film...

 The website stated... "Sullenberger's memoir, 'Highest Duty: My Search for What Really Matters' was adapted into a feature film, 'Sully: Miracle on the Hudson' directed directed by Clint Eastwood.."  The investigation apparently was conducted close to how it was portrayed... except the NTSB rejected the notion that Sully could have avoided ditching by returning to LaGuardia or Teterboro.  The multiple simulations were conducted (only 7 of the 13 succeeded).  The NTSB report called the simulations unrealistic and cited a further simulation that reflected "real world considerations" including the 35-second pilot delay which crashed as shown in the film.  

So I can watch the film but keep in mind that the accusatory aspect was as you pointed out and not as serious as portrayed...

I was really enjoying it, too, but as is my habit, I was googling the actual story at the same time. The accusatory aspect made me just stop watching. It really spoiled it for me!

Loved The Greatest Showman and even my husband (who generally hates musicals and didn't know it was a musical when he agreed to go) loved it.  That is a miracle in itself.  (but don't google the real life story of P.T. Barnum because the movie is not accurate at all).

May have been listed, but...

"The Darkest Hour", which may have already won, I have not watched it yet. Well, have not heard yet. A movie about Winston Churchill, and how he turned the tide of the war and the world in no less than a few days, or weeks, this while others wanted to end the war through surrender. He mobilized the Navy, and even private boats that saved the English Army. The world would be a very different place, with a different history, had it not been for this great man, and our FDR,  and Truman. We might very well, be speaking German today, and not have our Church that looks as it does,, and be able to freely discuss it on this, or any website. Not to mention the countless generations that would not be living today, nor the, or a State of Israel, and very few Jews left anywhere in the world. Anyway this actor gave a stellar performance, and is deserving of an Oscar! This movie should also win best picture as well. At least in my humble opinion.

We watched The Chamber this weekend.  Not good.  First of all, it said it was PG-13 but probably had the F word like 25 times so obviously that was a mistake.  Second, to normally rent a movie on On Demand it cost $5.99 but this one was $7.99, which was super annoying considering we wanted to shut it off after the first 20 minutes.  Third, this review says it best "Goes nowhere slowly."

It's the story of a Norwegian guy on a research boat next to North Korean waters who ends up having to take a group of American military people down in a small submersible to search for something on the ocean floor.  Angst ensues among the four people in the sub, fights break out, bad decisions are made, and eventually the group is trapped on the ocean floor with only two rescue wetsuits between them.  The ending is incredibly depressing.

I love musicals and was able to see Come From Away on Broadway. It was amazing, uplifting and just fabulous! Loved it! (It has 2 F bombs and a few “s” words)

I also saw Dear Evan Hansen which is very popular. It was great too and I loved it. It is sad and emotional but also funny and hopeful. One character does swear whenever on stage. The language caught me by surprise and the content discusses a lot of “heavy” themes. This is not for younger teens but high school kids would be okay. It may hit too close to home for some.

I watched Krull the other night and had forgotten how much I loved this movie as a kid.  It came out in 1983 and is a Fantasy/Sci-fi show where an evil 'beast' steals a prince's bride and tries to take over a world (named Krull) and must be defeated.  There's magic and sorcery and monsters and cyclops and changelings.  It's just a lot of good fun.

Isn't that the one with a magical, over-sized throwing star? I'm pretty sure we watched that for a YM activity one night when I was a kid. I had almost forgotten about it.

Might be worth hunting down for another viewing.

"Darkest Hour" with Gary Oldman

As is often the case with movies based on real life events, there are historical innaccuracies, but worth while if one is not too familiar with the topic. It gives a decent foundational understanding of that period from which someone can continue doing reacher.

Money Ball- my favorite sports movie and my airplane go to movie. I’ve been thinking about a quote from it as it relates to my calling in my ward lately. Here’s the quote from the movie....

“The problem we're trying to solve is that there are rich teams, and there are poor teams. Then there's 50 feet of crap. And then there's us. It's an unfair game.”    

The quote that keeps running through my head, as it relates to my calling goes something like this......”there’s the PEC and there’s the Ward Council. Then there’s 50 feet of crap. And then there’s the Sunday School.”

Finally saw Black Panther. It did not quite live up to the hype. Love marvel movies and would rank this with Thor. My favorites are Iron Man, Winter Soldier, Guardians #1 and Avengers #1

"I Can Only Imagine", is a true story about the author and singer of this beautiful song! Loved this movie about a son and his father who while growing up was a monster, the son's word, and then became a different man after he accepted Jesus in his life and felt like he could be forgiven. 

Beautiful movie and I was so choked up and felt the spirit!!

Saw Ready Player One last night and was severely disappointed.  I loved the book-it's actually on my top ten list of favorites ever-and the movie mangled the story.  It's completely different than it is in the book, and they mangaged to lose all the heart and magic that existed in the book too and instead turned it into a forgettable teen movie (nothing wrong with teen movies, but though the book is about teenagers, it's not really a YA book.

I am not sure if this documentary with several episodes has been mentioned.  But it is very interesting...on Netflix..Wild Wild Country..I apologize if this has been brought up before...My kids were just tots when all this happened..so...it brings back many conversations with husband, friends and family.

I have to agree. I went to go see this last weekend as well. I haven't read the book, so I had no idea what to expect. I saw a preview though that showed a cool CGI car race set to Tom Sawyer and I thought, 'all right, this looks promising.'

Then I sit through the entire movie, chalked full of obscure (and not so obscure) references to the 80's and you know what I get? Zero - count them: zero - Rush songs on the entire soundtrack! Talk about your bait and switch. The closest you get is a starman poster on the game creator's wall at the end of the movie and a similar t-shirt being worn by one of the main characters in real life. Very disappointing indeed. 

The only reason to watch it more than once is to hunt for easter eggs, which I suppose is sort of a meta commentary on the film itself, but I wouldn't actually watch it for the story. The film, as a film, was just okay.

We saw A Quiet Place last night.  It's really well done, lot of suspense, with great acting.  It's sad in places, touching in others, frightening in others.  Even my husband liked it and he generally hates scary/alien/end of the world movies.
