And so is, "It Is Well With My Soul." :)

I hope some songs by David Hyrum Smith- (born after the martyrdom) will be included- he wrote some beautiful hymns.

Here is an example of one I truly love:

BABE WAKE UP! NEW HYMNS JUST DROPPED!!

You know what I don’t like?  That sacrament hymn “he died the great redeemer died.”  I don’t like the melody at all, and dislike how the bottom drops out on the second to last line while the women just sing alone. In addition, I gotta sing that whole song with the beautiful “Behold the Great Redeemer Die” staring at me on the opposite page and I’m thinking WHYYYYY did she have to choose this instead of that! 🤪

You'll never guess what our closing song for Sacrament meeting is...

The Go Tell Aunt Rhody tune? Lord Dismiss us With Thy Blessing? Another favorite. 🙄

I don't understand why men usually don't sing that line.  Most men are singing the melody so they should continue to sing the line.  It is only those that are singing base or tenor (which can include women) that would technically not sing it (though they can always switch to soprano or alto for that line).

When I was growing up I always thought there were times when the women were supposed to sing alone and then times when the men were (I didn't understanding that it was about the notes and people's voices and that's what was supposed to determine who sang and who was silent).

I wonder if there are still adults who view those sections that way.

So now that these are published in the Gospel Library, can they already be chosen for Sacrament meetings and/or other Church meetings?

I found the answer in this DN article:

These new hymns should be used immediately,” said President Susan H. Porter, general president of the Primary, the church’s children’s organization.”

It was announced over the pulpit in our sacrament meeting today that we would begin using them next week.  With only 13 available though, it won't take long to get through them all.

I was wrong..

It was the Ward before us that sang #1001. I got there before our numbers were put up. No new songs for us- though I don't believe I've ever sung our closing hymn before.

Music is not one of my gifts.

Yes. In fact, our ward's music committee is discussing starting to do that within the next couple of months.

The Ward before the one I attended sang "Come Thou Fount..." as their closing hymn yesterday.

Will they pass out sheet music?

There's an app for that. 😋

Some people leave their phones at home so they can focus more.

I know - it was a joke.

I'm one of those guys that brings my scriptures and uses the old hymnbook with the detached cover from the pew holder.

I figured it was a joke, but felt the need to mention those of us who don’t feel comfortable bringing tech to Church.

I'm not sure.  I think they are expecting people to use their phones to get the music.

I’ve stopped bringing my phone to church.  It’s been a great exercise!
