MustardSeed Posted January 3, 2020 Posted January 3, 2020 Lose weight, top goal. Ten pounds- been to gym 6 days in a row. Of course though, weight is lost in the kitchen. Also I plan to pay off my rental house, and fix my teeth by wearing my retainer.
Stargazer Posted January 4, 2020 Posted January 4, 2020 I didn't make any. I've actually never made any in my entire life. I am terrible at making myself keep at semi-long-term projects, so perhaps I'm trying to preserve my self-respect! Here's what amounts to my vague wishy-washy list of things to think about doing. Irresolutely. In no particular order: I have a kind of sort of idea that I want to learn how to speak Spanish conversationally; I've got a CD-based course that I delved briefly into year before last or so, and it seemed like it might be doable. I don't have a need to learn Spanish, however, so I don't know if I will have enough motivation. I chose Spanish because I am familiar with how it sounds, and I like how it sounds. I had a Spanish class back in middle school, so at least I have that much experience (i.e. practically none)! Given that France and Holland are much closer to where I live at this time, however, there's more of a possible chance of visiting to try speaking with natives. And since I can speak German, Dutch might not be so difficult to pick up as French. I am still thinking about this, but yeah, probably Spanish. I've thought I might like to lose 50 pounds. My wife just bought me a nice bicycle, and maybe that will be more fun than walking; my feet are not in the best of shape, so walking isn't very practical for getting into cardio. And I definitely need to increase my cardiovascular fitness. And eat less. Maybe go Keto, or Carnivore for a couple of months -- please no advice on this. I probably couldn't make myself do it anyway. Get back into making videos for my YouTube channel. I took a break after a 3 week visit to the US last October, and never got back into action afterwards. I have a science-fiction novel I'd like to finish writing. Probably couldn't finish it this year, but maybe get it 50% written. Read the entire Standard Works all the way through. So, there we are. My non-resolutions.

Rod, you know that I continue to cheer you on, and was just wondering the other day how you were doing with quitting... at least you're making progress... as a former heavy smoker myself, I can tell you Rod, that you will absolutely love being smoke-free. Tomorrow your name goes on the prayer roll in the Portland temple for added strength of prayers. Are you in a position to ask for a priesthood blessing for additional strength of resolve? I encourage you... GG 2

We've been working up in Cali and living down here working up in Cali and living down here so sometimes we're not here on Sunday. I don't speak Spanish very well either. I was hoping they had an English-speaking ward but I won't know unless I go. It's not listed on their website but a doesn't really mean anything around here. Edited January 7, 2020 by rodheadlee 2

I have cut in half my smoking. Good luck, and you will be in my prayers. It can be done, my wife thought it impossible decades ago, but did it. As her entire family is suffering for countless health problems, many already gone, and others fighting to stay alive, and only four remaining, including brothers, sisters and spouses, this started with 18, at one time. Of course my wife is not among them, she is alive and well, not health issues. I am thankful she put family and Faith ahead of what would have been easy, meaning to not even try and stop. She comes from a family with unbelievable longevity, among those who never smoked, or never started. Most who never smoked or drank, lived into their 90’s, those who did smoke or drink, none have gotten beyond early 60’s, others died very long before. 1
poptart Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 I'm working on being less angry and more apathetic and cold, also adding more cardio so I can tone my lower body. Oh and getting back into tennis. So far so good on the first two parts, mother nature isn't helping with the last part. Not joking actually, there's a legit reason why these are my goals, life is what it is at times.
