I promise not to do that, if they give the unequivocal apology I suggest. They can use my exact words if they like and I won’t claim copyright infringement.

I think many others will not follow suit with you, I apologize if my wording suggested I was saying you specifically would not be satisfied. I just do not imagine it will satisfy most.

So am I, but thrilled too!  This is truly a historic moment.

Apparently this was fake. Someone sent it to me and I didn't look closely

From the Deseret News: https://www.deseretnews.com/article/900018840/lds-church-naacp-jointly-call-for-racial-harmony-end-to-prejudice.html

So is the previous link a fake?  Here it is:

https://www.mormon-newsroom.org/article/president-nelson-meets-with-NAACP-offers-apology-for-history-of-racism/

The dash between "mormon" and "newsroom" seems odd.  The link to the live stream is here:

https://www.mormonnewsroom.org/article/joint-statement-first-presidency-naacp-national-leadership

No dash in this one.

The live stream event does not include Pres. Nelson saying anything about the ban (that i noticed anyway.  I skipped a head a couple of times and might have missed a brief mention).

There was no mention of the ban, it was more of a we call on citizens everywhere to be nice to each other and we are all god's children

I listened to the conference.  It was short with no questions.  There wasn't anything said about the ban or an apology.  They did meet in person first and it is possible that something happened there.  I hope there is more than that.  The face that they even met is big, but not what it might have been.  Frankly, President Nelson has been so active and making changes, I would be surprised if there isn't more to the story or will happen the closer we get to the actual anniversary on June 8th.

That's what I got out of it as well.

Yeah, Tucows is a domain registrar and would have nothing else to do with whoever registered the domain.  And as one should, they have obfuscated their domain registration -- that's normal for anyone who likes to keep their email address from being spammed.  The clear copyright violation, however, could easily cause the veil of privacy here to be pierced,, legally.

If you click on the sentence at the very bottom of their page it takes you to a 'fair use' wiki article, specifically the part about parody.  :(

That's something everyone agrees on!

Apparently not, or we wouldn't keep being told to do it.

I think people agree with it in theory; it's in practice where things break down.

I am relieved that an apology or condemnation wasn't issued, and I hope it is a harbinger of the broadcast to come. I think it will be: be one, be unified, be nice to each other, etc.

Yes, just saw it.  It's nothing close to "fair use" or parody, though.

Thanks,

As far as hoaxes goes they put it together quite well. One little giveaway though was when they used "born" where they should have used "borne."

I do look forward to the day when people understand the priesthood issue better.

Also misspelling the name of the Church at the very bottom of the page:

Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints
Instead of
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

So this is actually from the Strangite church...

Yep, the little things matter. It looks like the hoax was perpetrated by someone who wants to speak for the Church but without even being able to spell its name correctly.

I was dusting off the old scripture case getting ready to head back as a sign of approval and solidarity.

Too bad it was a fake.  Ah well...we can hope, I suppose.
