The best plan is to put in a new password every week or two and make sure it is not identical in every building so that one person putting it online makes it easy to use. Automated emails shoot the password to everyone in the Ward Council and maybe a few others.

Quote Since the Father came forth from the heavens with His Son and spoke to the Prophet Joseph − then a boy only about fourteen years old, and told him that all the people of the earth had gone astray from His ordinances and had broken the everlasting covenant − I say since that time what wonderful progress has been made in developing the arts and sciences. Those were the days of the stage coach instead of the railroad. Then postal facilities were very slow. It required months for communications to go from this country to Europe and back again. Now it is done in an instant, steam and electricity enable people to transact business in one day or an hour, perhaps, that used to take months to accomplish. The Lord is in this way fulfilling His promise that He would hasten His work in its time. He has increased facilities during our day and generation for the accomplishing of work and bringing about His purposes which it would take many times as long to accomplish under the old regime − the slow−coach order of things. I find it hard to believe that so many temples just happened to fall apart in the last 5 years, especially given the standard to which temples are built in the first place. And the renovations are not just a coat of paint. In many cases, they seem to be almost a complete rebuild. By any rational measure, having to rebuild a number of Temples that are less than 20 years old is a disaster. It either shows a severe failure in planning or construction. We can only hope it was the fault of the contractors and that they were insured to cover their incompetence.

How can there be failures in planning and construction when such expenditure of the widows mite is done under divine scrutiny?

Calm Posted April 4, 2018 Posted April 4, 2018 There were a few FM members who assumed the joke was for real...wishful thinking and all, lol. So definite possibility. Bet they didn't read down to the typewriters and filmstrips part.

It was the converts' fault. They just weren't doing their part. 1

We had a priesthood leadership training meeting with Elder Bednar a bit more than three years ago. In it, he said the Lord was instructing changes and refinements that would take most of us out of our comfort zones and warned us to not be too locked into 'how things are done'. I suspect we have much more to come. ETA: This was the same meeting where he told us that only those Saints fully engaged in the work of salvation through personal ministering efforts would have the personal witness necessary to remain in the Church. If anything, receptivity has increased, in my experience. I also served my mission in the eastern United States in the 1990s. When I arrived, we were happy to see 20 people baptised in one month. The month that I left, we saw 98. The increase was steady during the course of my mission. And our converts were solid. I've kept in contact with as many as possible, and they're doing well. What changed in those two years? It certainly wasn't the non-members... 1

When I was a missionary in LA we ran into some members visiting the area. This lady told us that her friend had taken the lessons in LA but was travelling to Sweden for something and decided to join the Church there. So, this guy literally walked off the street into the Mission Office and requested baptism. This lady's brother was a missionary in Sweden at the time and he said that the Mission President was getting after the missionaries, "You can't tell me you can't find anybody to teach, why, we have people walking off the street wanting to join!" 5

We're surrounded by interested people. Our missionaries work ceaselessly. Our members, not so much, and many who are engaged (both members and missionaries) don't really know how to work in the current climate. This includes working with people over long periods of time and encouraging people to learn more online (from whatever source). I literally just finished updating one of our former Elders who finished his mission last year on what I'm currently doing to help progress an investigator he found when he was serving in our ward. This non-member has come to FHE at mine the past two weeks. He's far from ready to be baptised, but he's making progress. I refuse to stop working with anyone our missionaries have found. 1
Hamba Tuhan Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 And for what it's worth, the internet is our friend. Too many members have listened to the naysayers at the bottom of the wall on this topic. I took a woman to church for her first time last week. She's a cousin of one of my good mates. She told him she was thinking about checking out Christianity (they're both Muslim), so he recommended she have a look into 'Mormonism' since, based on our friendship, he thinks it's the 'best church'. She then spent a couple of weeks reading/watching everything she could find online. That led her to contact me and ask for a lift to church. She's coming again this weekend to watch General Conference. She loved last Sunday. 4

Can you share any wisdom on how to find? I am constantly trying to share the gospel with people, I've had one get baptized and she is shaky sometimes

My comment was in response to the thread starters comment that “the Lord is up to something” and I was trying to find out what that poster thought the Lord was up to. But your questions are interesting - why are people less receptive to the product that missionaries and members are selling? I’d be interested in your views on that.
