I think his clock stuff has been embarrassing and hasn't really been brought up to except to tease him every once in a while.

Well there you are, you see. I don't think it is embarrassing to Scott at all. I think it is embarrassing to those who confidently expect the Church to surrender to the Gay Jihad sometime soon.

Then it can be explained further.  But at least it's not inflammatory.  People like CB are seeking to foment ill will against us by using misleading rhetoric.  I am defending my faith by using more accurate rhetoric and context.

You're right; you are.

And what's the other side of your defence?

Why, the attack upon your faith that made your defence necessary in the first place.

CB is attacking it, of course. Well, to a certain extent, that's to be expected. He's feeling personally aggrieved about things; and after all, he doesn't think of himself as a Mormon any more.

But who else is attacking it? Well, I suggest that anyone who either (1) makes the same claims and accusations that CB makes, or (2) isn't quite up-front enough to make them, but who is prepared to play a "supporting role" in giving aid and comfort to CB and others of the Church's enemies.

So, who have we seen behaving in this way?

No it won't, no it isn't, and yes - we will see.

How is Scott's countdown clock going?

My iPod Touch crashed a couple of months ago. With the crash I lost considerable data, including all of my countdown clocks.

But rockpond had predicted a capitulation by the Church within 40 years time. That has been three or four years ago now. So the remaining time must be down to about 36 or 37 years by now. And the Church is no closer to capitulation now than it has ever been.

Even national news media are reporting that the Church has said it won’t change with regard to same-sex “marriage.” I just reviewed reports from a couple of outlets reporting Elder Oaks’s talk.

I agree that we should not be concerned with what the world thinks is correct.

My point was that to align those verses in 1 Corinthians with your beliefs you had to completely change the meaning of them.  So if the Bible is perfectly as God wants it, why can’t you accept that women need to stay silent in church?  That’s very clearly what the Bible says.

They don't speak at my church during services.

I never predicted a “capitulation”.

But I do think we have gotten closer to receiving a revelation that would allow for acceptance of gay marriage within the church.

Women never speak at your church?  If you are LDS, then you are playing games with words here.

How will they learn without a preacher?

How does your preacher learn?

You could do a search on your own name and the term "countdown" to pull up references if you cared enough. :)

Why would you think he is LDS?

If you think CB is an enemy of the church, I would submit that you aren’t playing close enough attention to what’s happening in Mormonism.

And if you are wanting to make a list of people who would like to give aid and comfort to CB, please, add me to it.

I tend to assume everyone here is LDS until I see them identify differently.  I didn’t know churches still exist in which women never speak.

IOW, capitulation.

Dressing it up in Mormon-friendly euphemisms doesn't change what you are really calling for.

I think I am. I'm just a little bit more choosy than you'd like me to be about what I regard as an authentic Mormon voice.

Using SBE, I'll say that Elder Oaks is, and Mister Dehlin isn't.

I'm not making any lists of those who are giving aid and comfort to the Church's enemies; but I'll accept your admission.

Not a bad idea.

I generally haven’t had much success searching for content on this message board, however. Seems to get harder with each new change or “upgrade.”

You are welcome to give it a go — if you care enough, that is. At this point, the only one I care about is the one for rockpond’s prognostication about the Church caving in on gay “marriage.”
