MorningStar Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 In the scriptures, it says when Christ returns, there won't be any pain or sickness anymore. I've thought about all the work we have to do during the millennium and how wonderful it will be to have good health to help us do that, but I also wondered this: Will menopausal women be fertile again? Or what if you had a hysterectomy? Will your uterus regenerate? Will vasectomies be undone? Is the millennium going to involve people having babies left and right? Share your deep thoughts and let's see if we can somehow not make this thread about homosexuality. By some miracle. 3
The Nehor Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 I am going to be dead before it gets here so who cares? Life is pointless....
rpn Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 It isn't the resurrection (at least for those who remain living on earth) that transform mortal bodies into perfect bodies. So no, it isn't going to give back the wrinkles you lost in plastic surgery or whatever other parts were changed. Why would it change where you are in the stage of life? Though if time is different maybe the stages of life will be longer. 1

The laws and standards of a terrestrial world are different than a telestial world. Those trappings of a telestrial world will be gone; those who remember them will feel blessed, and those who read about them will also be blessed, if they obey the laws of that Millennial kingdom. I think there will be all kinds of healings depending on the needs of the new world and the Lord's will. I understand babies will be born and live to the age of a tree (and I'm sure there are a few propagational metaphors in there somewhere!). Edited June 20, 2017 by CV75 1

JLHPROF Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 Well, that OP didn't go the way I was anticipating. I agree with rpn. The Millennial period isn't the resurrection. We are promised some miraculous health changes during that time period, but people will still be being born, dying (or in some cases being "twinkled"), but as we are moved from a fallen Telestial condition into a Terrestrial condition, and eventually to a Celestial, the effects of the Fall will be reduced. We know that lifespans will be extended as they were in the early days of the Patriarchs. That requires a certain amount of health. But again, health is not the same as regeneration so I doubt menopause will be reversed or my hair will grow back.

You make some good points, but I was thinking if Jesus could heal a man's ear that was cut off, maybe people would get other body parts back? I should be cleaning my house, but I'm all deep in thought. I would have more babies if my body weren't in such bad shape and if I knew it wouldn't kill me/cost me thousands of dollars. Having babies in the millennium sounds like the way to go. Edited June 20, 2017 by MorningStar 1

Having babies in the millennium sounds like the way to go. Well, Sarah was well past menopause and God gave her a child. And certainly healings can be done (like the ear). But I think the Millennium will still follow the basic natural order of life, even if it will be a healthier and longer lived one.

If I am in heaven and have nothing more interesting to do then discuss the relative freeness of Israel I am going to complain that heaven was overhyped in scripture and go punch Paul in the nose for false advertising.

Yes, women will still have babies, but no, I don't think menopause or vasectomies will be reversed. People will continue to grow old and die. For at time the world will have much fewer people than it does now, so it is possible that people will have babies left and right. As to your forbidden topic, it will eventually be done away - at least for a time - for Satan will have no power over the hearts of men.

I am personally of the opinion that a lot of physical changes will be reversed in the resurrection. Vasectomies, mastectomies, hysterectomies, amputations, and yes, gender reassignments. They may not be during the Millennium, but the resurrection will restore a pure physical body.

Physical functions depend on blood. If after resurrection something else is what provides us with life, as some scriptures suggest, makes me wonder what physical functions will change as well as possibly physical structures. 1

Current Church teaching on this - https://www.lds.org/manual/teachings-brigham-young/chapter-37?lang=eng "The blood he spilled upon Mount Calvary he did not receive again into his veins. That was poured out, and when he was resurrected, another element took the place of the blood. It will be so with every person who receives a resurrection; the blood will not be resurrected with the body, being designed only to sustain the life of the present organization. When that is dissolved, and we again obtain our bodies by the power of the resurrection, that which we now call the life of the body, and which is formed from the food we eat and the water we drink will be supplanted by another element; for flesh and blood cannot inherit the Kingdom of God [see 1 Corinthians 15:50] (DBY, 374)." "When the angel who holds the keys of the resurrection shall sound his trumpet, then the peculiar fundamental particles that organized our bodies here, if we do honor to them, though they be deposited in the depths of the sea, and though one particle is in the north, another in the south, another in the east, and another in the west, will be brought together again in the twinkling of an eye, and our spirits will take possession of them. (DBY, 372)" Both of these are scriptural as far as I am concerned. Scripture tells us that blood is the life of flesh. It tells us that not a hair of our heads will be lost. Well, that's cheating now JLHPROF!! I think it pretty clear she is not speaking of those resurrected, but I guess I shouldn't presume. I find the question of procreation in the celestial kingdom an interesting one, since I don't know where these spirits would come from, but I confess I don't know all things - at least not yet. I find scripture totally quiet on the subject with the exception of sec 132 and sections on the celestial kingdom, so I doubt I will ever receive any inspiration about it.

It is important to remember that most things on earth are patterned on things in heaven. That includes family. Why would it not include the method by which families are created? Genesis tells us that God is male and female. The first command God gave them was to multiply and replenish. The fact that we are sealed as husbands/wives/parents/children. As far as I'm concerned everything in the gospel points towards heavenly families and earthly families operating on the same pattern, right down to our reproduction. 1

Something must be different in the reproduction, otherwise two perfected bodies of flesh and bone would not create a spirit body that was none of those things. 2

Why? Serious question - why? That is an assumption based on reproduction in a fallen state. Do not the perfected resurrected bodies contain spirits? Scripture says they do. What are the physical components of a resurrected body? According to the quote I provided Calm from the manual another element, a more refined spirit element will run through our veins. Could not a being with a spirit and refined spirit matter in their veins, and authority to command spirit matter (all with bodies have power over those without) cause a spirit being to be reproduced? What would be the alternative? Let's hypothesize for a second. Assuming resurrected beings have physical bodies that function, and there is no reason to doubt they do based on scripture, then sexual relations could in theory produce a child. Knowing what we know about resurrection what kind of child could such an act produce? Resurrected beings participating in sex can produce mortal children. We know this this is not the case. It requires a fall to become mortal and gain a physical body. Resurrected beings participating in sex can produce resurrected children. We know this is not the case. It requires gaining a mortal body, death, and then the resurrection ordinance. Resurrected beings participating in sex can produce spirit children. We know resurrected beings contain both spirits and refined spirit matter. If they CAN conceive sexually, this would be the only body type that makes any sense. I don't know why the idea of resurrected beings having spirit children is so frowned upon. All things are created spiritually first and things on earth are types of things in heaven. 1
