Mystery Meat Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 Simple question: How many dates will a Mormon girl (in general) go on with a guy if she is not interested (again, in general)? One? Two? Three? At what point does it become ludicrous for her to keep going out with a guy if she is not interested? Asking for a friend... 1
Storm Rider Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 If an individual does not enjoy dating someone she/he should stop immediately. Not every person you date is supposed to be a future spouse, but it those we date can be excellent experience for learning to be good companions/friends with one another. Honest communication should never stop; "Hey, I enjoy dating you and I would like to keep this relationship platonic." "If you are looking for something more than it would be best not to proceed." "What are your thoughts?"
ksfisher Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 How would anyone know the answer to that question? 2
Kenngo1969 Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Most of the (many! ) uninterested girls I've been out with have never been able to manage more than one!
bluebell Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 (edited) Me personally? One. Two or three if I was on the fence about him. I always believed it was just mean to continue to say yes to a guy I had no interest in. But women are not all the same. No one of us can speak for us all. If a girls is really bad at confrontation for example, then she might keep saying yes just because she doesn't want to hurt his feelings. If your friend is wondering, he should probably just ask her. If that seems to forward then he should tell her it's her turn to plan the date and see if she does. Edited March 18, 2015 by bluebell 2
Kenngo1969 Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 (edited) There was a reality show out a few years ago called Mom, I'm Dating a Mormon. At the time, I said that if the show had been made about my social life (Cough-cough!), it should be called Mom, There's No Way I'm Dating That Mormon. (Sorry; Couldn't resist! ) P.S.: To be fair, I've been out with more than a few girls simply because, like Ado Annie from Oklahoma!, they were just girls who "cain't say no." I prefer the current state of affairs, thankyouverymuch! Edited March 18, 2015 by Kenngo1969
rpn Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Tell your friend that it depends on how old she is. If she is under courting age, or just not courting, then it is okay to go out with people you want to be with for the joys of trying to figure out how to date and to make friends and have great experiences, even several times. It is never okay, however, to accept dates because you want to go to X or experience D and the date has the connections/money/transportation to take you--- using people is always wrong. But if she is courting, then she shouldn't accept a second date from anyone she isn't going to be open to taking a second look at for maybe leading to marriage. But people do change. If you go on one date, and it just doesn't seem like you click, it is not bad six months later to go on another date to see whether things are different. 1
Mola Ram Suda Ram Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 One date. After that it is fine to say no. I had not problem not asking girls out on a second date if I didn't like them after the date. What is the purpose of dating? Once we answer that I think you will see where I am coming from.

I've known too many people who didn't hit it off the first date or the date was even disastrous and are now married. I would have been willing to give it a second try if someone asked me.
