Is It Really True, That...

Just search the umpteen threads here on evolution. We do not need another.

...

I've never yet seen this topic addressed.

Mormons present our Adamic origins and the

physiology of celestial beings as fact -- not mere

religious symbolism.

Somewhere in our galaxy, or universe, Kolob is

a real place -- existing among the stars just as

our planet and sun exist. The angels and other

celestial beings are presented as facts, and not

as speculation nor poetic license.

If those "other" members of the human family share

the same percentage of their DNA with the great apes

as we do -- or, if they are hosts to the same symbiotic

micro organisms that we ourselves are -- then such

facts would be matters of Science, and not merely of

some obscure religion headquartered in an obscure

western portion of North America.

I suppose that contributors to this forum have pondered,

supported, rebutted or ridiculed less interesting and

remarkable topics. Surely they can abide with a few

transitory postings here on this thread.

My own conclusion is that there is no Eloheim and no

Jehovah (not to mention Moroni and kin) anywhere

whose body plays host to any of the tiny things

that inhabit ours -- and that our parasites and micro

organisms living in symbiotic harmony with ourselves

are products of natural selection, right here on earth,

and yet one more evidence of our development from

earlier, non-human ancestors.

But, I have been wrong in the past and will no doubt be

wrong again. Here's your chance (or anybody's chance)

to set my thinking straight and show me where the LDS

religion really can provide me with "more truth."

Either the Adam and Eve of about 8,000 years ago were our first ancestors, or else we are descended from other progenitors and, most likely, those supposed first parents never existed.

???

UD

We don't have any "first" ancestors. Some before others, yes, but never at any time has there been a very first of our kind. We are eternal.

Does that help you to see what is correct now?

And try to bear in mind that evolutionary believers are already admitting that one kind of being becoming another kind of being is impossible, such as a cat becoming a dog or a fish becoming an ape or a fish becoming a person, so that means our little mite buddies are always going to be mites whether we're talking about mortal mites or eternal resurrected mites.

I am sure there are others who will set you straight.

I don't have the time to look up for you what you can look up for yourself. If you want to learn more, it is up to you to do so, you do not need to be spoon fed

Uncle Dale and I understand each other. He is a brilliant guy and I value his comments. And no, I really don't have time, and no, he really doesn't need me

A common characteristic of men is that they insult each other to show how close they are. http://www.ted.com/conversations/5161/men_socialize_by_insulting_eac.html

Men and women are different. As a man I can only speak for myself. And if you are a woman I'm sure that it will be difficult for you to see things through my point of view as it is for me to try to see things from your point of view. And the best place to start is violence.

Men live in a world of violence, and potential violence. And I'm not talking just about policemen or men in the military. I am talking about all men. And whether we admit this or not, we all know it. There is only a very thin layer of civilization that keeps men from killing each other. And if you understand this tension, you understand men. At best I can say that men live in a world of truce. If you want to continue to live in a peaceful world, you honor that truce. You do not insult strangers. You do not provoke a man you don't know. That is, unless you are trying to engage in violence. Once you understand that, you will understand why male friends insult each other.

Male friends show friendship and deep intimacy by doing the one thing that they would never do to a stranger - provoke. Male friends call each other degrading names. Male friends hit each other. The message is crystal clear - we can only do this with each other because we are such good friends. With anyone else, there would be violence.

I hope that this helps. And if I am always polite to you, and just say nice things, it just means that we're not really close friends, or that you are a woman. For my male friends, I would say, "hey, ugly, get a job!"

The problem there is that now I can't apologize because an apology would actually be an insult because only friends insult each other.

But then the insult would show that it wasn't an insult and so then you would feel offended that I didn't insult you.

Or something like that.  :tribal:

Boor? -- perhaps.

Jerk? -- never

The last few comments ring so true.  I'm envious of some men's ability to just go out with their buddies and just play.  Women have to get ready, make sure there's a sitter, make sure they have the right purse, or outfit.  Worry over so many things just to go out and have fun.  Plus, they worry if they say the wrong thing, or hurt feelings etc.  I so wish women could be more like the men and play.  I'm sure there are women like that though but it's rare.

Just the other day I was talking to my husband and son's who are planning a golf getaway with a few non family male friends also.  All they care about is the golf and March Madness basketball.  And I'm sure the condo they stay in is going to be a mess, and very smelly during their stay!

I'm just a little jealous I guess, sometimes women worry over too many things.  Including not offending.  But the offending in these comments is meant to be endearing.  Totally think I should have been a man.

Sorry if I derail, maybe there needs to be a topic on this in Social?

Oh, there are.

And every now and then we come across one of them,

and have no clue whatsoever how to handle the situation.

Last time it happened to me the project manager said

to us -- "I'd like to introduce your new supervisor. Her

promotion isn't effective until Monday, so, until then,

just consider her one of the crew..."

Pretty scary stuff.

What? Nobody felt comfortable saying to her:

If we're supposed to treat women as equals to men we have to actually do that for it to happen!

Can't recall.

This was in Rock Springs, Wyoming, in 1978.

She was rather tough -- raised on a ranch -- was in the rodeo

a couple of times. She spent that Friday going over our personnel

files. On Monday she was in her hard hat, giving orders out in

the area where I worked. I think she was the one who fired my

assistant. I couldn't handle all the workload on my own, so I left.

Oh well...

I have used that as a blatant example of the way men and women are totally different and no one has ever disagreed.

Imagine two female friends who haven't seen each other in a while walking into a party and seeing each other.

One says to the other "Hey you ugly _____, how the ___ did they let YOU in here?" and then both of them crack up and hug each other.

There goes the theory that men and women are the same- right out the window.

Actually coal mine, power plant, and miles upon miles

of spaghetti piping. My job was to figure out how to fix

problems in those pipes, and come up with adjustment

blueprints that an illiterate pipefitter could comprehend.

The resulting diagrams were enough to send a Mahayana

monk straight to nirvana.

So, it was more a relaxation of the mind, than a chore,

to draw up a couple of hundred maps for that publishing

house located down south of Point of the Mountain.

Had the thought occurred to me, perhaps I could have stopped in and chatted with

the White Salamander guy, to break up the monotony of those drives down to the Y.
