Avatar4321 Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 When our Heavenly Father placed Adam and Eve on this earth, He did so with the purpose in mind of teaching them how to regain His presence. Our Father promised a Savior to redeem them from their fallen condition. He gave to them the plan of salvation and told them to teach their children faith in Jesus Christ and repentance. Further, Adam and his posterity were commanded by God to be baptized, to receive the Holy Ghost, and to enter into the order of the Son of God.To enter into the order of the Son of God is the equivalent today of entering into the fullness of the Melchizedek Priesthood, which is only received in the house of the Lord.I read that in the new priesthood manual. It made me wonder. Do we enter the stepchildren order when we are endowed or when we are sealed?
Stone holm Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 I read that in the new priesthood manual. It made me wonder. Do we enter the stepchildren order when we are endowed or when we are sealed?"Fullness" or is that the 2nd anointing?
VideoGameJunkie Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 The furthest I've gotten is being endowed so I have work to do.
ksfisher Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 The fullness of the priesthood is received when we enter into the new and everlasting covenant of marriage in the temple. Never heard of a step child order. 1
JLHPROF Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 (edited) The fullness of the priesthood is received when we enter into the new and everlasting covenant of marriage in the temple.Never heard of a step child order. The fullness of the priesthood is received when the higher blessings (2nd annointings) are performed. Not during the endowment. "“For any person to have the fullness of that priesthood,” Brigham Young explained, “he must be a king and priest. A person may have a portion of that priesthood, the same as governors or judges of England have power from the king to transact business; but that does not make them kings of England. A person may be anointed king and priest long before he receives his kingdom.” Edited March 1, 2015 by JLHPROF 1
HOLY CATHOLIC Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Hebrews 7 is clear that no one holds the Melchezedek Priesthood other than Jesus. That's why you can't find one person that held that position other than Jesus in the New Testament era Hebrews 7 teaches us that the Aaronic and Levitcal were passed on from Father to Son but Jesus lives for ever so no need to pass it on

Kevin Christensen Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 For those who are interested in going beyond common place proof texts and cliches: http://www.margaretbarker.com/Papers/OurGreatHighPriest.pdf But Melchizedek had been the royal high priest in the original temple, not the restored temple thatwas so diminished in its furnishings and its teachings. The actual temple in the time of Jesus wasthis diminished temple, and yet people still remembered what the temple had been and what it shouldbe. This means ‘what its teachings should be’. One of the most remarkable aspects of Christianorigins is that the early Church knew these teachings and developed them into what we now callChristianity. Jesus had fulfilled the prophecies, the true temple was being restored, and they calledhim Melchizedek.Scholars sometimes wonder how Christianity developed so quickly into such a sophisticatedtheological system, especially as the first disciples are often portrayed as uneducated fishermen fromGalilee. The answer to that question is very clear in the New Testament, if it is read it with eyesaccustomed to the world of the original temple. When St Peter wrote to the scattered Jewishcommunities in Asia Minor who had become Christians, he said: ‘Like living stones, be yourselvesbuilt into a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to Godthrough Jesus Christ’8 The Christian community was the temple of the Messiah, the original templerestored, and it was a living temple. 1
Tacenda Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 For those who are interested in going beyond common place proof texts and cliches:http://www.margaretbarker.com/Papers/OurGreatHighPriest.pdfI wonder what's holding Margaret back from becoming a member.
Kenngo1969 Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 (edited) Hebrews 7 is clear that no one holds the Melchezedek Priesthood other than Jesus. ...Wait, wait, wait! You're Catholic, and you believe the Melchizedek priesthood is valid? We're making progress! Stick around a while! I'd like to see how far this goes! Edited March 1, 2015 by Kenngo1969
Kenngo1969 Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 (edited) I wonder what's holding Margaret back from becoming a member. If that should happen, great. If not, she's fine where she is: we need advocates of every religious stripe. P.S.: And I say that because having a religously-pluralistic cadre of advocates for our faith saves us from the, "Oh, yeah? Well, no non-Mormon [fill-in-the-blank-with-specialty-here] believes that," argument. Edited March 1, 2015 by Kenngo1969
janderich Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 I read that in the new priesthood manual. It made me wonder. Do we enter the stepchildren [Melchizedek] order when we are endowed or when we are sealed? The endowment teaches us and prepares us to receive all the ordinances necessary to enter into the Holy Order. But the receipt of these blessings are only found after a man and his wife are sealed up unto eternal life. Note: by this I do not mean simply going through the forms of the ordinance but in actual fact. The temple ordinances are a means to an end, not an end in themselves."In the celestial glory there are three heavens or degrees; and in order to obtain the highest, a man must enter into this order of the priesthood [meaning the new and everlasting covenant of marriage];and if he does not, he cannot obtain it." D&C 131:1-3 2
HOLY CATHOLIC Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 I'm Holy Catholic not Roman Catholic, big difference. The Apostles Creed is both a Protestant and Catholic Creed

JLHPROF Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 I didn't say it was received in the endowment. You said "The fullness of the priesthood is received when we enter into the new and everlasting covenant of marriage in the temple."This is also incorrect.
Ham Clam Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Peter was of the Royal Priesthood of all believers not just White males but of all races and genders . Not exclusive with a single race or gender or age Do women act as priests in the Catholic Church? Children? I'm Holy Catholic not Roman Catholic, big difference. The Apostles Creed is both a Protestant and Catholic Creed Your user name makes more sense then.I'm not familiar with all the Christian denominations out there.Do you mean the Holy Catholic Anglican Rite (or around that area)? Or does "Holy Catholic" have some broader meaning? It states on it's website: "The apostolic ministry of Bishops, Priests, and Deacons was instituted by Christ and is male in character."In any case, I don't think I'd find women's ordination in these churches. How is there a "Royal Priesthood of all believers" in any of these groups?
ksfisher Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 You said "The fullness of the priesthood is received when we enter into the new and everlasting covenant of marriage in the temple."This is also incorrect. No mention is made here about the second anointing.1 In the celestial glory there are three heavens or degrees;2 And in order to obtain the highest, a man must enter into this order of the priesthood [meaning the new and everlasting covenant of marriage];3 And if he does not, he cannot obtain it.D&C 131:1-3http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/131?lang=eng

Joseph Smith when he restored the 2nd anointing literally called the ordinance "The Fulness of Priesthood". King & Priest is the highest office available to man on earth - without it how can you think you have the fullness? You are correct that entering the New & Everlasting Covenant of marriage is a key step in achieving the highest glory. But the fullness of priesthood specifically refers to being ordained a King and Priest. That's the very definition of fullness of priesthood.

Could one obtain this highest order and not have the fullness of the priesthood? That would imply that there was something even higher than the highest order.
Avatar4321 Posted March 1, 2015 Author Posted March 1, 2015 Peter was of the Royal Priesthood of all believers not just White males but of all races and genders . Not exclusive with a single race or gender or age so Paul neglected to mention a third priesthood in Hebrews?
