If not, may I suggest it for the next conference as a nod to ecumenical outreach. Also I can't wait to see Sis Knight lead the choir in a rousing rendition of " When the Saints..." . Paddy Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 I would like to hear what any European Saints- or really any Saints outside the US thought about the appearance of the choir in general.I had some strong opinions that rather surprised me, and I wonder if anyone else had the same ones. It was not specifically about the colors.I thought I was watching the Disney channel.

I disliked the Outfits for the afternoon session - especially with the guys in matching ties.The singing however was fine. Different shapes and sizes are the reason choir robes were invented. Hard to put your finger on it. Maybe try Hawaiian shirts and shorts next time if you want to go in that direction. I guess I was just being a grumpy old man. You would have to have pearls or velvet necklaces or something similar. The conference center says the metallic necklaces are too distracting with the lights.

Put the men in short-sleeved white shirts (tribal tattoos visible on arms and necks), leis and lavalavas, and nice sandals or barefeet. Dancing in place to the music and expressing the meaning with their hands. It could be done very respectfully, and no more manly presentation could be made. We need to fully recognized the cultures of the worldwide LDS Communion. 2

They sang in their native tongue. It was awesome. Very electrifying. Even the GAs turned around to stare at them.

I really liked that the men were wearing colorful ties too! I prefer the black skirt and colored shirt ensemble to the shapeless tunics the Motab tend to wear. Choir robes would be nice for the Motab. I can't say that I found it particularly "American", but maybe as a Brit, I'm too attuned to "Americanisms"!
