When you are asserting that something (Helen's sealing to Joseph) has a big impact on Horace and Helen's relationship, you should be able to come up with some evidence that it did in fact affect the relationship.(diary entries, etc).

 

If you don't, then you are engaged in mind reading.

I disagree in part. I'd like to see how long the BYU channel would survive broadcasting interviews with Richard Dawkins. I believe heads would roll........... 

Why would that be a problem? I think that if the channel had a good reason for interviewing him, he would be interviewed. But I do think that the BYU channel does have an agenda because it is a byu channel. But how people interpret church history and what they say about it in a positive way, is up to the director or programmer. We also need to remember that someone wrote the helin mar kimball part. Why did that person interpret it in the way that they did is the question and why did they leave out certain parts? I don't think that they received orders to leave this or that out. We need to remember that these people are also members and would also be affected by editing or censorship.

I am also sure that horace knew about hlelen's relationship with joseph. And it did not seem to matter to him.

But I still would like to know what believe you think I have that is in error.  if you can't specify it,  then you should not make such a comment.  If you can then I would love to discuss it.  If a case is sound I will always consider it,  and even adjust my own opinion at times.

 

There appears to be a sub debate on this thread where ideas are suggested against the culture. I believe there is work in that area that could be done that would result in a lot of good.  To me it looks like there is division,  and deep division on culture matters.  My guess is that you are very far on one side of that.

what do you think my pay grade is ?  is that even important ?  do you choose who to respect based on pay grade ? 

 

I don't know what opinion you have about this,  other then to inform me that my believes are wrong.  Tell what you think, your idea(s) are just as valid as mine or anyone else would be.  I may agree with you, or not,  I don't know.

 

I actually don't think its a good idea to squash ideas, but it happens.  I would hope everyone would be offended by that and not choose it.

 

I would actually love to hear your ideas on the matter.   But it is not ok to tell me anything that is not respectful about me,  lets see if you choose to do it again.

Why would anyone?  Honestly- church is there to help those who are new to the faith or not very doctrinally wise. 

 

I have never ever even heard this kind of stuff being discussed in church.  Wrong place, wrong time.

If the BYU channel was doing a documentary on biological evolution, or even a documentary on Atheistic thought in the 20th Century. It wouldn't bother me a bit.

Such limited attempts at appeasement would invariably fall short in the minds of people like Palerider. Even if KBYU covered the LDS critic talking points 24/7, he would still find ample cause for complaint. There is no satisfying unreasonable folks--particularly those suffering under the weighty burden of unsupported arrogance.

This is true. Some critics are in perpetual grip mode. I think that it needs to be this way because of their own lack of faith and their need to keep to the status quo of their now former mormon position, Even if the church would publish a thousand page book of church history written by a prominent critic, and studied in sunday school year after year, it would satisfy the crave for criticism.
