Thinking Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 In the spirit of Peter’s example, may I suggest that we can all be more consistently involved in missionary work by replacing our fear with real faith, inviting someone at least once a quarter—or four times every year—to be taught by the full-time missionaries. They are prepared to teach by the Spirit, with sincere and heartfelt inspiration from the Lord. Together we can follow up on our invitations, take others by the hand, lift them up, and walk with them on their spiritual journey. Link I can imagine some friendships being ruined over a frequent invitation to be taught by the missionaries.

Follow up means make sure it happens if they say yes. It does not mean repeatedly asking. It is akin to the, "Hey, we should hang out" and the other person agreeing and then no one doing anything. It is not asking the same question and getting told no and continually asking anyways. 3

I'll take as a many invites as you'd like It would be a little awkward for me if you were to say yes to an invitation to join the true church of Jesus Christ, with me as your helper. I'd have to ask where you live, exactly, and then I'd have to find out the name of the ward for that address, and then I'd need to find out the phone number for the mission leader assigned to that ward, and then I'd need to find out exactly what time would work for you to meet with the 2 elders assigned to that ward, and then I'd need to call them and see if that would be a good time for them to meet with you, and if it's not then I'd have to find out when would be another good time for you, and then check with them again, etc, until I got it all worked out. Or maybe I could do it another way and just get your phone number fron you and then give it to them and ask them to work out a time with you. But either way it sounds like a whole lot of work for me to do and I'm just not sure how well I could handle the pressure. Edited April 9, 2014 by Ahab

I don't remember what the numbers were, but I've heard a statistic in the past that each convert is invited an average of X number of times before finally succumbing to the invitations and joining the Church. Okay, but make sure you remember to say No each and every time I invite you, otherwise you may be putting me to more work than I am ready to handle.And the same goes for everyone else I may invite to join the church, too! Lord knows I already have plenty of things to keep me busy.So does anyone at all out there want me to help you join the true church of Christ?On a board like this I figure that's at least 50 individual invitations with each invite. Does not necessarily mean asking to meet with the missionaries, but participating in a service project, social event, basketball game, etc. "A bunch of us are going to help a church friend move. Wanna come along? I understand we are having pizza." "I'm going to be speaking at church next Sunday" etc Edited April 10, 2014 by cdowis
