Fever

I have not had a fever in over a decade. If I remember right I am supposed to drink fluids, eat compact carb-dense food and not throw too many blankets on myself even if I am shivering. I think there is also something to do with pelicans but that may be the fever.

Clear broth, fruit like pineapple, herbal tea, ibuprofen, maybe a cold wash cloth to the head, lots of liquid, yogurt, applesauce. Edited, looked online hehe, and what Sheilauk said, especially going to the doctor with those symptoms. Feel better soon!! Edited by Tacenda

If all else fails, just go with the flow and listen to this:

;)

Get well soon.

Take paracetamol or ibuprofen to bring the temperature down and help with aches/pains.  Drink plenty of fluids, especially water or warm drinks.  Keep your room and yourself at a comfortable temperature but don't overdo your clothing and blankets and get plenty of rest/sleep.  Eat lightly - chicken soup is good!

You should feel better in a couple of days.  If not, see your doctor.  If a rash develops or you get severe headache/back pain, go to your doctor's immediately.

I hope you feel better soon! :friends:  :air_kiss:

Hello Nehor...

I echo what Sheilauk said...

IIRC you're fairly young so that's good.  These types of things are more serious, or can become serious, when you're like me... older...

Listen to your body and don't hesitate to seek doc if you don't start improving in a day or so.

edit to add:  No fever in over a decade?  What were you doing now that would invite a fever... that's the question.

No idea. I had a hamburger last night and then started to work out but I was aching a bit. I thought I might have pushed myself too hard yesterday and then I remembered I did not work out on Wednesday. I went to take a shower and felt hot but was shivering and it felt a bit like food poisoning but in-n-out has never failed me before. I was also terrified it was a kidney stone as it matches one of the symptoms I get when I get one but there was none of the uniquely excruciating abdominal pain and I wasn't vomiting. I also went out with the missionaries last night so may have caught something from them or an investigator.

I emailed my boss at 2 saying if I was not there this was why. Then woke up just after noon and felt exhausted but much better. I came into work and other then a dehydration headache I am treating with copious amounts of water and some general tiredness I am good.

Tonight. I am going to work a few extra hours to save PTO time and then watch Netflix in my hammock until I pass out.

Last time I had a fever, in 2008, it landed me in the hospital for nine days. Of course, I also had no immune system, either. That may have had a bit to do with it.  8P

My immune system is pretty good. I get sick maybe twice a year and have. It been to the hospital since I had a kidney stone over 5 years ago. Turns out weightless helps with those.

Glad you are feeling better, but take it easy and don't rush back to fully working!

No problem, just have to stay awake for 50 more minutes and a meeting that should require me to do nothing but hold up the phone receiver and then I can go home.

It came back with a vengeance making it hard to swallow, lymph nodes swelling, and the fevers going nuts. I went to an urgent care center and it was strep like I expected once my throat went  bad. Good to know what it is and more importantly to start throwing down pills to make it better. They said the fevers would quit within a few hours of starting on antibiotics so the one I am enduring now should be the last one. Also I will be non-contagious by Sunday morning I can hang out with nieces and nephew for conference without causing issues.

Thanks everyone.

Strep...not good, here's hoping the antibiotics work well for you.

I like drinking hot beef broth with sore throats, very soothing to the throat and stomach and helped with liquid intake.

And here I thought you were invincible! ;)

I usually am.

I have not yet found a food or drink that works without pain. Water is the closest thing and I have been forcing a lot of that down. I am hoping the steroids will calm the inflammation by tomorrow. I have not been eating enough and I really need to get more food down. I haven't had a full meal since Tuesday. On the bright side between the fever consuming calories and the lack of food I have lost over 5 pounds.

Don't get shaky if you can help it. Cold friut smoothies might feel better than warm if there is a lot of inflammation. Add some protein powder if you got some. Last resort maybe Popsicles?

Swallowing is now a twinge instead of a wincing experience. Just got up and ate a rather large breakfast. Sadly I did not set my alarm and missed the morning session. I did get my first block of sleep longer then 4 hours in 4 days. I will read it when it come out in a few days.

I tell people that if it's strep, it's a good thing--it can be killed.

Steroids are very helpful for symptoms.  They help to shrink the swollen, inflamed tissue and will usually get you feeling better than just the antibiotic alone.

I can tell you I am taking the full dosage. Not because it prevents superstrains of bacteria from forming but because it deserves to die and if it has an immortal spirit it probably belongs in hell.

The other good thing about group-A beta hemolytic strep is that it's a pretty stupid bug.  It hasn't figured out how to become resistant to antibiotics.  Even plain-old penicillin murders it.

These days, penicillin is good for 3 things--strep, tooth infections, and syphilis.

Be glad you have #1.

I've had #1 and #2. I figure I can pick up #3 on my trip to Germany with my layover in France. It is the French disease right? :)

And I am healed.

A cool thing:

A minor temptation I have been plagued with for months has vanished. I like to think the fever burned it out of my brain.

An inconvenient thing:

Because I was sweating so much I had to do laundry while not all there mentally and washed my wallet and destroyed my temple recommend so I need to get a new one 6 months early.

A VERY bad thing:

My Freebirds reward card was destroyed too and I was one burrito away from getting a free one.

My reaction:
