Pregnancy Photos

Absolutely no offense, but I've never seen one that did not look odd.

I can understand the desire for a personal reason, but I don't think its appropriate to get a nude picture done (regardless of what isn't showing, if you can tell the person's nude then you are seeing way to much) that you are going to display for others to see.

:pardon:

Wanted to get opinions on pregnancy photos. These would be where the mother is nude, but nothing is shown. I've had them done myself and have been asked to take some for a few friends who are expecting. What are your thoughts?

They'd need to be for your husband and your eyes only. Just my opinion.

If done right, they're absolutely stunning. Especially in black and white. We don't have them out in the open on display, but have shown them to family and friends. I do photography on the side and would be taking them either in my home or in the home of friends.

I think we should be mature to understand that nudity in art is not porn.  Maybe some folks aren't quite there yet.

exactly. There is nothing pornographic about these photos. Just an opportunity for mom and dad to capture this special moment and share with whom they feel comfortable.

My post had absolutely nothing to do with the idea that such would be porn.  I just don't think certain things are appropriate for the public.  Tricia asked for opinions so I offered mine.

Maybe some folks aren't quite to the point where they stop jumping to conclusions about why people hold the opinions they disagree with.  :D  ;)

Here's my opinion, do WHAT YOU WANT. This is no business but your own. The human body does not need to sexualized ya know? Pregnancy photos are absolutely beautiful in my opinions :)

I agree.

It's just that I can think of a lot of pictures that would involve the human body that would not be sexual in any way, but which I still wouldn't think would be appropriate to show or display.

I guess I just haven't seen any that have been done right.  I'm sure there are some beautiful ones out there.

Since you asked...the young set of women seem to think their immediate pre-birth shape is something to be displayed. Very tight stuff. I don't get it. I am glad it doesn't appeal to the lower nature. So it isn't immodest in a sexy way. But I would have to admit that it is a gross immodesty...cruddy looking. Why not just wear maternity clothes again? (I am going to get killed for answering the question with candor, heheho, oh well.)

So anyway...Whatever people like, but I am not in any way interested in "pregnancy photos" or birth photos either.

I didn't even quote you but you obviously feel defensive about your position. I'll have to go back now to re-read what you posted because I do not even remember.

Can a girl comment without being told 'you obviously feel defensive...'  Yeesh.

I assumed you were speaking about my post (and the others who said the same thing) because it was one of three which said that nude photos for show were inappropriate, and it was basically the only opinion that had been expressed besides the OP.

If you weren't comparing the opinion that it is inappropriate to believing it is porn, I have to admit that I have no idea what you were talking about since without that connection to the opinions expressed in the posts prior to yours, your comment wouldn't seem to be relevant to the thread.

I'm sorry if I misunderstood you.

And I'm sorry if you took my reply more seriously than it was intended.  Maybe I should have added more smileys....  :pardon:

Why do they have to be nude pregnancy photos?? Do you take nude birthday/Christmas/holiday photos to remember the occasion as well. Surely the pregnancy can be viewed with clothes on.

That's my opinion.

I don't get getting nude just because you're pregnant when you wouldn't ordinarily take nude photos.

This makes me just laugh. They don't even have maternity clothes here in Cheeseland. Just let it all hang out.  I am old enough to remember the pleated smocks with big bows.   In my mom's day you nearly stayed home the last couple of months.  Now we have come to this; bare bountiful bellies.  i have seen some very lovely photographic art. But I would not feel happy to have my family member private skin recorded for all time.   So I am divided. I guess private mementos are one thing, hang it on the wall is another.  I have a great photo of me running out to rejoice in the first snowfall about a week before my 11 and a quarter pound passenger finally joined us.  But I was fully dressed- did not have to be nakkid to see THAT belly!

I personally don't find them sexual or offensive, but I do end up thinking about awkwardfamilyphotos.com and some of the more interesting photos when I think about pregnancy shots  So I guess as long as it's between a couple what the hey!

I am also mature enough to know that there are other forms of art other then porn that should be avoided. Nude pregnant people is, IMHO, one of those forms. Not necessarily for moral reasons but for aesthetic ones.

If I saw my mother posing for new pregnancy photos...I would need a team of psychologists.

Well, you have the opinion of every son in America (minus a sick few) about their own mother's nudity.  Now, with that being said, if I saw a picture of 'your' mother in her prime, nude and pregnant, I may have a different opinion.

I don't understand the fuss here, all I see when looking at the photo with Demi Moore, is a belly. It's totally focussing on the baby bump. Maybe some aren't as discreet though.

Have you asked yourself, if the focus really is meant to be only the baby bump, then why is the woman naked?

After all, you can show (and highlight!) a bare baby bump without having to remove all your clothing, right?
