Damien the Leper Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Saw "Jack the Giant Slayer". It was okay.
Damien the Leper Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Tonight I again watched "Not Without My Daughter" starring Sally Field... what a story... what a brave woman to risk so much to escape from Iran with her daughter. Reminded me of how fortunate we are here in the U.S. where women have rights and their voices are heard.GGI saw that movie my senior year in high school. It caused some problems with conservative parents since the movie was watched after 9-11. I remember that week very well. I got suspended for ten days for wearing a t-shirt with Karl Marx, Angela Davis, John Lennon and Patti Smith's faces on it. 1
Garden Girl Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 I saw that movie my senior year in high school. It caused some problems with conservative parents since the movie was watched after 9-11. I got suspended for ten days for wearing a t-shirt with Karl Marx, Angela Davis, John Lennon and Patti Smith's faces on it.Years ago when I was young, I worked numerous part-time jobs to earn spending money, mostly as a sales girl in shops, etc., This one time I worked as a counter girl in a dry cleaning shop. When the clothes would come in we had to go through the pockets for any objects, tissue, etc. Anything remotely of value we'd put in an envelope and attach it to the ticket to be returned to the customer. This one time I was checking things and I felt something on the back of the lapel of a men's suit coat. I turned it over and it was a little round lapel pin of Karl Marx... the side view of his head that was so famous... pinned to the backside of the lapel. So I thought to myself... hiding it huh? So when I readied the suit for pickup, I took the pin out of the envelope and pinned it to the front of the lapel, thinking, okay... if you are going to follow Marx why hide it? Ha! I wasn't there when he picked up his order... wonder what he thought...GG 2
Damien the Leper Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 I'm not ashamed to say I support Marxist ideals. I will admit that I'm hesitant to admit I'm a BYU Rugby fan. Shhh...don't tell.
Damien the Leper Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 If Heavenly Father, Heavenly Mother and Jesus play sports...it would definitely be rugby. Though I'm not sure I agree with Pres. Faust that God's language is Portuguese. 1
altersteve Posted March 14, 2013 Author Posted March 14, 2013 I've had pneumonia for a few days so yesterday I decided to have a Lord of the Rings movie marathon. Every time I watch these films I'm reminded of how great they are. I couldn't find my extended editions, though, so I decided to just watch the regular versions.
thesometimesaint Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 High Noon with Gary Cooper and Grace Kelly. An oldie but a goody. 1
bluebell Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 I just watched Babylon AD on T.V. Talk about dumb. Wow. I'm still in shock i sat through the whole thing...

Bill “Papa” Lee Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Went last night to see "OZ, The Great and Powerful", with all the grand babies and my kids. They are all grown now (kids that is) so it was cool for us all to go out together. Not an Oscar winning movie, but alright.
Calm Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 (edited) I got suspended for ten days for wearing a t-shirt with Karl Marx, Angela Davis, John Lennon and Patti Smith's faces on it.I am afraid to ask you where you grew up.Some school boards/teachers/principals have way too much time on their hands, imo....or are putting way too much time into the wrong thing. Calm Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 I've had pneumonia for a few days Hope you feel better. This year I've heard of way too many people coming down with this, including my mom. Before it would go for a couple of years between hearing someone having it. What is it with this year?

It is heavily influenced by conservatism and Evangelical churches. Especially by Assembly of God, Community Alliance Church, Southern Baptists, and Presbyterians.
Damien the Leper Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 You Rebel, You! What made the situation ridiculous was the fact that I had bought the shirt my sophomore year and had been wearing it to school for some time. I was accused of being "insensitive". I thought that interesting considering the shirt had nothing to do with terrorism. 1
Damien the Leper Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Also, I almost got arrested last month for holding up a sign that said "ARM THE HOMELESS". It was at a 2nd Amendment demonstration. I guess the uneducated rednecks didn't understand that I'm all for 2nd Amendment rights. I was told that I was disturbing a peaceful demonstration. I didn't say a single word to anyone. I just stood there with my sign. Americans are so sensitive... 2

Damien the Leper Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 And was the wrong ideology as well.Completely! Americans nationwide felt victimized, and rightly so. However, the need to lash out at anything perceived as "un-American" prevailed and continues to prevail to this day. I have a red shirt with a yellow hammer and sickle on it. It's no secret here on this board that I support Communism. But there is a poorly assumed false association with Russian, Cuban, N. Korean and Chinese political, economical and sociological ethics. 2
Tacenda Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 (edited) Ran out and bought Les Miserables today and finished just now with a huge lump in my throat. Hollywood still cranks out the good movies, thank heavens. This movie was so "real" in human emotion. The actors were magnificent. Edited March 24, 2013 by Tacenda
thesometimesaint Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Watched the first of The Hobbit trilogy. So far it has been well done.
Garden Girl Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 (edited) I've been so caught up in the March Madness tournament that I'm going to watch "Hoosiers" starring Gene Hackman and Barbara Hershey... inspiring fact-based story.Did anyone see the Florida Gulf Coast Univ games? Small school, only two years eligible for NCAA... seeded No. 15 and just pulled another upset on San Diego State Univ. This will be the first time that a 15 seed has gone to the Sweet Sixteen...GG Edited March 25, 2013 by Garden Girl
Damien the Leper Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 (edited) Saw Olympus Has Fallen. It was great but very violent. Edited March 25, 2013 by Valentinus
altersteve Posted March 25, 2013 Author Posted March 25, 2013 Olympus Has Fallen was AWESOME. It's insanely violent, and I loved every minute of it. If you're okay with lots of intense violence and some language, go see it. Just make sure you check your brain the door first and you'll have fun.

It was definitely interesting to see a terrorist cell that wasn't Middle Eastern or Russian.
