Um... I dind't pick my wife by what she wore. For me, the first thing that I notice of a woman, before we talk, or anything of that such, is does she have an attractive face, and is it natural (ie, little to no makeup). After that, she better be smart and can identify w/me on multiple levels. Bikini or whathaveyou, eh... Who a woman is cannot be bought.

True words. As a ripened man of 53 years I am astonished by the number of young girls wearing pants just a few inches from their butts. I feel like I should admonished them to pull them up. Naa... just saying that Christ fasted 40 days and 40 nights and still resisted temptation. Satan is still guilty of tempting, and Christ had the presence of mind not to drool.

Instead of thinking, dang I bet that would taste really good right now, he dismissed the temptation by dismissing the tempter. If we cannot dismiss the tempter we need to dismiss ourselves. The urge is natural the lingering and dwelling isn't.

Zoidberg, I agree with you in principle, but in real life it just doesn't work that way. Being human, we all have our weaknesses and limitations. To me, it doesn't seem like such a good idea to completely ignore other people's feelings and limits.

If someone were to come up to me and tell me, in real foul language and with an angry expression on his face, that I am a horrible, lousy, rotten person, even though my rational mind would know quite well that's not true, I have no doubt my feelings would be hurt. And just because I'm theoretically responsible for my own thoughts and should not let him hurt my feelings doesn't mean it's ok for that person to say such things to me. People are not islands, and we do affect each other.

I know; which is why I think it's important to know what the person's intention are. If someone attacked you in a way you described, I can't think of many good intentions that motivated the person to do that. Besides, they would be targeting you specifically. A woman in a mini-skirt walking by is not necessarily intending to cause you, DH, to have immoral thoughts.

Lamanite - I appreciate your honesty. I think it shows maturity to post this and take the heat - which I perceive you have done very well. Here's my honesty, OUCH! This hurts the ego of many women. I can understand the appreciation for the twenty-something, hard-bodied woman in a bikini. I've admired it also - proabably envied it as well. When I was thirty - I had the body but no courage to wear a bikini - now I'm 40 - I have the courage but not the body (5 kids later and twins) Stretch marks on the belly of woman who had twins - Yikes! So - I guess I'm the woman that you're now repulsed by... in that 10 years of using my body (supposedly) for what it was intended for (having babies) and now it seems to some, my presence at the pool is offensive instead of "look at that beautiful woman with her beautiful children".

If wearing bikinis is what you want, you should go for it. Just because the media advertises a certain "standard", it doesn't mean that's the only thing that's considered attractive by everyone. Forties is the new twenties. People who refuse to realize that other people who are past their twenties are still capable of being attractive, loving and being loved, and want to enjoy themselves as much as the younger crowd need to grow up, IMHO. Otherwise it's going to come back and bite them when they get older themselves.

Nothing wrong with a pretty woman in a bikini, she has covered her private areas, plus it's hot and at a pool what is she supposed to wear? As long as you don't let your thoughts run wild with lust it's no sin to appreciate beauty when it's standing right in front of you.

People need to lighten up a bit I think, a woman's body is an art form, dress modesty and not like a streetwalker but nothing wrong with looking sexy and attractive. God gave her those looks and "assets", it's no sin for her to appreciate them, or others for that matter.

Like anything else self-control and moderation is critical. If the sight of a woman in a bikini causes rampant lusting and loss of self control instead of "wow she's beautiful" and look away, then you may need therapy or really work on controlling your lust.
