Women do have some responsiblity to help their fellow man not stumble. I have been in this position before. There have been times I though about wearing a small speedo but I did not want to put bad, lustful thoughts in the head of women. So I resorted to wearing jeans instead.

I think you're responsible for picking up your own eye balls and tongue (you know - so you don't stumble). As far as your speedo is concerned - thank you for not wearing it.

That happened to me not to long ago. Man, this gal had a killer body and she was maybe 20. She came over to me and we started talking. In the middle of the conversation I told her, "You know you are a beautifu girl and I'm having a difficult time following the conversation," Direct quote. She laughed and got her towel. It covered everything but face and legs. STill tough, but muddled through it.

I don't see the problem with recognizing the beauty of women. They are, after all, incredibly beautiful. What a wonderful gift we have been given to recognize such.

Guys don't realize that women dress more for themselves and other women than they do for men. I choose what I wear based on what I like. I don't wear skimpy clothes because I don't like them, not because of what some guy may or may not think. I may wear a skirt a couple of inches above my knees or a sleeveless shirt, (which is as skimpy as I wear) it's because I think I look nice and if there's some uptight person around who doesn't like it he/she can look away.

I'm sure this 'sister' didn't choose her swimsuit with you in mind. Stop flattering yourself. :P

I am really tired of all those men giving me all those impure thoughts. Don't they know women are easily aroused by emotional stimuli? Every time a man expresses an interest in something intelligent, as opposed to football and farting contests, I have to start singing my favorite hymn... And even then it doesn't help.

And when they flaunt their superficial flowers and chivalry in front of you... it usually means they are missing all the important characteristics one needs to look for in their eternal companion. And when they do something provocative, like volunteering at a children's hospital, they are only magnifying the problem by becoming pornography to some of the women who see them.

I can't believe the nerve of those guys who shamelessly treat their girlfriends to a romantic candlelit dinner they prepared themselves (and it's delicious!). Back in the day, when the f-word was naugthy and the s-word* was not and the world was not so concerned with all the PC stuff, nobody would have hesitated to call those guys what they really are!

I am surprised that the GAs are not addressing this terrible, terrible problem and don't put some of the responsibility for the temptation we face every day where it belongs - on the shoulders of the young men! I honestly don't know how I am able to control myself. All you men should be grateful I haven't raped anybody yet. But let me warn you - if you keep behaving in this abominable manner, I am not responsible for the consequences!

There is nothing wrong with modesty... one doesn't have to be hypocritical or obsessive... frankly, I'm surprised that the LDS mom and daughter are wearing bikinis... let alone an LDS woman in a string bikini...

battlefieldboy comments that she may be "showing off her body to attract a man who will take care of her needs"... now isn't that enlightened <_<

or that if she is someone's wife, she is making sure she is taking care of herself to continue to make her marriage lively... oh, I see... to make her marriage lively she parades around in a string bikini for all the men to ogle :P Are you serious??

Some of the fashions of today that women clamor after remind me of the Daughters of Zion... it is clear what the Lord thought about them... and their worldliness... We can apply that to the context of our day... it isn't much different...

Isaiah 3:16

"Moreover the Lord saith, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet:

Therefore the Lord will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the Lord will discover their secret parts.

In that day the Lord will take away the bravery of their tinkling ornaments about their feet, and their cauls, and their round tires like the moon,

The chains and the bracelets and the mufflers,

The bonnets, and the ornaments of the legs, and the headbands, and the tablets, and the earrings,

The rings, and nose jewels,

The changeable suits of apparel, and the mantles, and the wimpels and crisping pins,

The glasses and fine linen, and the hoods and the vails.

And it shall come to pass that instead of sweet smell there shall be stink, and instead of a girdle a rent; and instead of well set hair baldness; instead of a stomacher a girding of sackcloth, and burning instead of beauty.

These were the immodest, worldly women of their day... just as the string-bikini clad women are the immodest, worldly women of our day... think nose rings, multiple piercings, tattoos...

Such things were not pleasing to the Lord anciently... they are not pleasing to him in the context of our times.

A woman in a modest one-piece suit can be just as attractive as any woman who chooses to leave nothing to the imagination in her string bikini... some of you can be condescending all you want with your "Get a grip"... and get self control comments... A woman who chooses to exhibit herself for all men to see has little value for herself... or else she just doesn't get it... and neither do some men...

You go your way, and I'll go mine. I offered an observation based on my experience. If that qualifies as a baseless generalization in your world, so be it. Have a nice day.

Sorry, Ken, I was being crabby.

Thank you for bringing that up! Don't men realize how difficult it is to keep under control? I mean, a women's sex organ does have more nerve endings than a man's sex organ. However, I would stay clear of singing hymns to keep your thoughts in check - it doesn't take long and then when you're singing hymns in church - here comes the thought of an intelligent, emotionally aware man. It can almost be too much to bear. Holy Dinah! Should I mention which hymns are the worst?

And going to Church is the worst! Because that's where all the emotional, sensitive men congregate! I feel the need to repent immediately after taking the sacrament because one look at all those temple-worthy priesthood holders who show respect to women is enough to provoke graphic sexual imagery in my head. That's why I stopped going to Church. I couldn't take the temptation any longer.

Good point. Then there's F&T meeting - you haven't eaten for 24 hours - you're feeling a little shaky anyway - and then there goes your good friends' husband - sharing his feelings... talk about temptation. I wish he would just sit down and shut up!

Just for the record, I do my best to hide my interest in intellectual pursuits, sometimes forcing myself to discuss such mindless idiocy as football, American Idol, and ....sigh...farting contests.

I think we need a new edition of For the Strength of Youth. We ned to set clear guidelines for our young men. They need to prepare to become husbands and fathers, when their main function will be to preside over their families. They can't successfully prepare for this most sacred mission by crying at chick flicks with girls who will surely use their relaxed state to take advantage of them!

Dont worry about it. My blood is about as red as it gets, women will nearly always get my attention. And vice versa, especially when I get around in my mankini. (I get told that i am a 8/10, but the mankini pushes me up to 10/10)

If your a real man, its good genes which make you attracted to females, its a big + because it means you will be able to spread your dna around a bit one day (only if women find you attractive). I would be much more concerned with someone who says there have a disinterest in women dressed this way.

As for women making themselves look attractive, yes the should take responsibility for what they wear. No one in their right mind would go around in a string bikini for food shopping (except that other post from vegas) so from a birka to bikini where is the line to draw of what is and is not appropriate, its very grey. Some clothes are designed to keep the cold from killing you, others are to draw attention. If they dress like that they are doing it for a very good reason, to show males their potential breeding advantages and mens nature is to respond. If women dont want men to look at them then they will have to spend more time at home (or eat 5000 hot dogs) because this is nature at its most basic. I think the thing we all fear in any walk of life from dress codes to religion is extremists. There will always be a fringe element who will not align themselves with good taste and our ideals. Being attracted to chicks is not one of them.

now where did I put my black mankini, I have to be at a job interview in 20 minutes.

But, from one perspective, at least, perhaps that's part of the problem? :P

Itâ??s all making so much sense now and Iâ??m starting to see the wisdom in the Brethren. I mean, why males receive the priesthood and women donâ??t. Itâ??s obvious that by nature men are more worthy of holding the priesthood â?? they have more of an ability to act in a manner that does not unfairly tempt females.

Here is a good test for others' righteousness. Just walk around outside naked for awhile. If others object to your "immodesty" (don't they know you couldn't care less what they think and that you are only doing it because it is comfortable?!) then you will know for sure that they are self-righteous and judgmental, not to mention lacking self-control. You can be glad with the assurance that at least you are not as wicked as them.

By nature!? If anything men are stimulated via visual cues while, (please excuse my stereotyping) women are stimulated by emotional ones. A man simply sees things differently than women. A righteous man goes beyond his lusts and sees something greater in a woman. I remember a anecdote attributed to David O. Mackay when he and several members of the Quorum of the Twelve were in a car. They happened to notice a girl in a halter top and several of them mentioned how shameful she looked. President MacKay looked out the window and commented that she looked like a sweet spirit. I live in Calfornia near the beaches. After awhile you really just don't notice. And if I do my wife is always there to remind me with a gentle thump on the back of my head. :P
