Bikini's

I don't know where this thread belongs but I usually post here so I put it here.

I just moved into a townhome that has a community swimming pool. I went the other day, and in walked one of the most attractive twenty somethings in my area wearing a bright green string bikini. She also happens to be in my ward. She then walked over to say hi. I'm at that point having a hard time remembering what she is saying, and trying to keep eye contact. She's says bye and I'm trying to look at my book and not watch her walk away (which I failed to do).

Now, I fought internally any recall of the event until now and refused to ruminate on any image that may want to resurface. It is a struggle to maintain chaste within my own mind within the course of a normal day, without some girl prancing around me 98% naked.

My question is does these young women bear any responsibility? Also, will this primal reaction ever go away for us men.(im assuming I'm not the only one).

It's almost as if an immodest woman can become pornography to the men who see them. :P

As far as the urges going away, you might contact Evergreen. They are experts in helping men to overcome their urges, not matter how primal.

Knock off the snarky comments, Cinepro. If you don't have something substantive and sincere to contribute, then stay out of this thread. =Mods.

Or, you can try thinking of your favorite hymn every time you see a beautiful woman in a bikini. That will either help you think less about bikini clad women, or bring them to mind everytime you sing that hymn.

of a good L.D.S song all the time in your mind.. such as one i like most the time,, ,,,

"I,ve got sunshine in my life today" it works all the time!

It seems as if a lot of people have read President Packers talk on masterbation and singing a hymn.

I have a hard time believing that age and wisdom (and not simply the decrease of testosterone) causes a man's head not to turn at the sight of a young women. Let alone a bikini clad hard body.

Of course young women have a responsibility to dress modestly. It might be better to think of something else that's interesting or distracting to you than to try to not think about the green bikini girl. I think that's the idea behind the hymn singing suggestion.

Edit: Overlooked your second question; Marshall Applewhite has the answer to that. (i.e. his incorrect interpretation of Matthew 19:12) :P

I wish President Hinckley along with the "earrings, one pair" would've added "No String Bikinis either!"

Sorry, this is not a topic I would give any time to but I was on the board and could not resist.

I think you have some maturing to do in your life if this is a real issue for you. Or you at least need to "get out of Provo" (just kidding!).

Both my wife and 18 year old daughter look fantastic in bikinis. They both work out and pride themselves on staying in shape. And, so you know, they go to the Lds church weekly. It has more to do with the maturity of those looking on when those wearing them are comfortable. This is not unusual in todays age and you really should have a better sense of control and awareness before this is a problem of someone else.

Sorry, but we are not living in the dark ages anymore.

Get a grip!

No its not testosterone alone, for me its knowing the reality of all things involved.

And that takes wisdom.

every thing looks worse in color.

This is a fair response. Maybe I am immature, and this is just a personal thing that I struggle with. You might have been a little less condescending but point taken.

However, I have to wonder how much of a man you are if you no longer appreciate the female form and the sight of an attractive women who is 98% naked has no physiological or mental affect on you? Maybe you've matured your way right out of manhood.

I definitely keep my actions within certain boundaries, and I am usually very good at keeping thoughts within the same boundaries, but it is very difficult under the described circumstances.

Sorry, like I said - get a grip! And this has nothing to do with temple worthiness. It does, however, have a lot to do with simply growing up and having a little more respect for women, and having a little more control of yourself.

If you are afraid of this situation, you should never plan on traveling!! Sheeeees

I'm beginning to suspect something abysmally inconceivable... that Lamanite was actually being serious. <_< Please tell me it's not true!

Laminite.

Its the "imagination" factor that gets you, look at all the realitys of the situation.

great post! the bible tells us that man kind is fallen, and Christ tells us that we commit sin by just thinking about it !! I Thank God every day for sendiing His Son to rid us of our sin.

IIRC, BYU and other church schools only allow one piece swimsuits to be worn in their pools.

In Europe people usually don't think of women going topless to swim or sunbathe as a sexual thing, so I'm sure that North American culture plays a part in LDS determinations of what's modest.

Ok...Please tell me how to get a grip, cuz I obviously don't know how. Second, I don't understand your ref to the temple. I'm not sure how I'm disrespecting women. And second I demonstrated complete control. So what's the problem? I'm taking issue with otheer things which are obviously beyond you're particular sensibilities.

So you were serious?

I'm being dead serious. Am I the only one that loves my wife of 10 years and am completely attracted to her and still has to exercise control over the reactionary thoughts that are a result of seeing another attractive female? I'm irritated at the sister for not having the decency to show up to the pool in a modest swimsuit!!@!

This is an issue that has bothered men for thousands of years. How can I remain chaste with all that tempting flesh on display? How can I dull my natural carnal instincts? How can I further indulge my religion's innate distaste for all things sexual? Well, look no more my friend. This Gordian Knot has been conquered. Behold: I give you, the Solution:

SUB_islamic_dress.jpg

And even though I don't fully approve, for those who wish to skirt the boundaries of good taste and modesty, here's a racy swimsuit:

muslim_dress_muslim_swimwears_muslim_swimsuits.jpg

(As you can see, the woman's face is showing, which could lead to inappropriate carnal thoughts. It is for this reason that I advise anyone to think long and hard before donning such unrighteous apparel.)

Perhaps a few questions first.

How old are you and where do you live?

But if you think that a women, wearing a bikini in front of you, is in any way causing you some, or any, type of immoral thought or action, IT IS YOUR PROBLEM, not hers.

If I guessed you lived in Utah or Idaho, would I be accurate? Or maybe Mesa Arizona?

Honest to God, this is ridiculous in todays day and age for those of us who are mature enough to step out in the world. Why should the comfort and confidence of a women be construed as anything less than what she wants it to be.

On another thread you mentioned that you were concerned about what your wife and daughter were being taught in the LDS church.

I think I understand now what concerns you.

Absolutely one of the most vicious and and un-Christian responses I have ever seen here.

What about all those mormon plig girls, they dress in full dresses and jeans, but they end up in a sexual relations at much younger ages than the gals in bikini's.
